The notion of a plump subgroup was recently introduced by Amrutam. This is a relativized version of Powers' averaging property, and it is known that Powers' averaging property is equivalent to C∗-simplicity. With this in mind, we introduce a relativized notion of C∗-simplicity, and show that for normal subgroups it is equivalent to plumpness, along with several other characterizations.

AbstractVarious theories exist concerning the philosophical, biopsychosocial, and anatomic aspects of obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD). The heterogeneous symptomatology of OCD and the complex interaction between the brain as a physical structure and the mind demands a theory fo OCD that recognizes the disorder as a unified emergent property. A unified theory of OCD is proposed, which incorporates the neurochemical, neuroanatomic, and psychatric underpinnings of this disorder, explor the methods by which OCD pathologies impact the neuroanatomic circuits of the brain, and explains how, throug

Abstract The goal pf this research to examine Śadrâ’s view on the “soul-body relation” in order to solve the “explanatory gap and the hard problem of consciousness” which are the basic core of the mind-body problem in the philosophy of mind. The explanatory gap explains how physical property can give influence non-physical things conversely. Meanwhile, the hard problem mentions how physical system (material) can produce subjectivity in the mind (non-physics/ immaterial), especially when we have experience. In this context, there is a gap that appears between the immaterial mind and the materia

AbstractIt is here argued that 'culture' is a universal in the philosophical sense of the term: it expresses a general property. It is not a singular term naming an abstract entity, but rather a singular predicate the intension of which is 'cultureness.' Popper's view of the ontology of mathematics is used as an analogous example in the light of which the ontology of culture is analyzed. Cultures do not have an independent existence (realism), they are not mere names (Nominalism), and neither do they exist as fixed entities in the mind (conceptualism). AbstractThe emperor's new mind (hereafter Emperor) is an attempt to put forward a scientific alternative to the viewpoint of “strong AI,” according to which mental activity is merely the acting out of some algorithmic procedure. John Searle and other thinkers have likewise argued that mere calculation does not, of itself, evoke conscious mental attributes, such as understanding or intentionality, but they are still prepared to accept the action the brain, like that of any other physical object, could in principle be simulated by a computer. In Emperor I go further than this and suggest that th
