Archery is a sport that needs archers to shoot the arrows to the target by using a bow that requires muscular strength and endurance to form a proper technique to hit the target precisely. Therefore, the purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of 6-week different resistance training on shooting accuracy among archers. This study was carried out using an experimental research design. 12 men were recruited in this study and were divided into two groups; muscular strength training group (n = 6) and muscular endurance training group (n = 6). Both groups had undergone 6-week training pr

The Work Ability Index (WAI) is a validated and widely used tool in occupational research. However, normative values for physical therapists (PTs) by age and sex are lacking. Although the nature of PTs’ work is physically demanding, it is unknown whether muscular fitness is associated with their WAI. This study sought to provide reference WAI data for Spanish PTs and to evaluate the association between PTs’ muscular fitness and WAI. Data on WAI of 1005 PTs were collected using a questionnaire. The data came from 21 individual studies yielding 100 effect sizes (ESs). Large effects were demonstrated for muscular and cardiovascular endurance, moderate for muscular strength, and small for flexibility. No significant effects were found for body composition. Document source and program length influenced muscular and cardiovascular endurance outcomes, as published studies and longer programs produced larger ESs. In addition, program type infl

The objective of this study was to examine the effects of two different resistance training protocols, low-repetition (6–8) and high-repetition (13–15), on muscular fitness in preadolescents. The results indicated that both protocols were effective in improving the strength and endurance of the subjects, but the low repetition protocol resulted in greater improvements in the maximal strength (1 RM squat and overhead press) and the high repetition protocol led to the improvement of the muscular endurance (knee push up), explosive power (standing long jump and medicine ball throw).
