Free fatty acids possess antimicrobial properties in the natural defense system of many eukaryotes. In this study, we synthesized nanoformulations of myristic acid for antimicrobial activity. The myristic acid nanoformulations (MN) were unstable due to crystallization. This problem was overcome by the addition of the liquid fatty acids and by using two surfactants of hydrophilic and lipophilic nature. MN exhibited a small size (100 nm), and their physical form was affected by the amount of the liquid fatty acid. MN with myristic acid and liquid fatty acid in 1:1 formed solid NLC and 2:3 formed

The myristic acid/silicon dioxide composite materials were prepared by sol-gel methods. The myristic acid was used as the phase change material for thermal energy storage, with the SiO2 acting as the supporting material. The structural analysis of these form-stable myristic acid /SiO2 composite phase change materials was carried out using Fourier transformation infrared spectroscope (FT-IR).The microstructure of the form-stable composite phase change materials was observed by a scanning electronic microscope (SEM). The thermal properties was investigated by a differential scanning calorimeter

As a result of an experimental study on broiler chickens, the enteroprotective effect of myristic acid amide in mycotoxicosis in chickens was established. An experiment was conducted to study the effectiveness of the use of new cationic surfactants in the form of aqueous solutions of fatty acid amides in case of mycotoxicosis on young poultry. During the study, the content of mycotoxins in the feed was established, the effect of deoxynivalenol and citrinin mycotoxins on the broiler chickens was determined, the enteroprotective effect of a 0.01% aqueous solution of myristic acid amide was studi

Surfactants based on myristic acid, epichlorohydrin, and propylene oxide were obtained in two ways. First, the ester of myristic acid and epichlorohydrin was synthesised, and then with propylene oxide. Second, myristic acid was first reacted with propylene oxide, and then with epichlorohydrin. In both cases, the reactions were carried out at 150–160°C using triethylamine as a catalyst. The obtained chloropropoxy-propoxy and propoxy-chloropropoxy esters of myristic acid are non-ionic surfactants. These products were transformed into cationic surfactants by interaction with several ethanolamines

The location of cell proteins with covalently attached lipid was examined in two human squamous-carcinoma cell lines. Cells were labelled with either palmitic acid or myristic acid and disrupted by sonication, followed by differential centrifugation of the cell lysates. SDS/polyacrylamide-gel electrophoresis of the resulting cell fractions indicated that most of the palmitate-labelled proteins were found in cell membranes, whereas most of the myristate-labelled proteins were found in the cytosol, although some were located in cell membranes. Monomer acid was the byproduct of preparing dimer acid from oleic acid in industry. Study its components and properties will contribute to the exploitation and application of it. First, we researched the physicochemical properties of monomer acid, such as iodine value, acid value, saponification value, and so on. The conclusion showed that the sample was a mixed fatty acid which contained longer chain of carbon and had high quality. Then, the chemical constituents of fatty acid in monomer acid were determined by GC/MS. After the sample was etherified via methanol, the chemical components and t

The number of people diagnosed with diabetes mellitus (DM) has risen considerably in recent decades. Diabetes type 1 and 2 are the most frequent types. Type 2 diabetes accounts for 90% of all DM cases globally, making it a 21st-century epidemic. Meanwhile, the side effects and resistance development of routinely used synthetic oral hypoglycemic medications have side effects. It's a need for a safe and less costly substitute. This chapter looks at the anti-diabetic properties of several bioactive compounds derived from plants, such as boldine, bergenin, abietic acid, and myristic acid. This cha

Abstract The main goal of this research is to electrochemically determine the influence of temperature elevation (30 °C - 80 °C) on the wetting state and corrosion behavior of mild steel during intermittent oil/water wetting. The results obtained in separate experiments demonstrated that the corrosion mitigation effect of an oil phase (LVT-200 model oil) containing myristic acid (surface-active compound representing naturally occurring oxygen-containing compounds in crude oils) on CO2 corrosion decreased with temperature after intermittent wetting. The influence of the same temperature range o
