The basaltic rocks occur in the Ngurore-Numan-Kola area of the Yola Basin, and are exposed as plugs along a belt stretching from Kwanar Kuka in the Northwest to Ngurore in the southeast, a distance of about 85km. The plugs were intruded into sedimentary deposits of Bima sandstone and clayey shale. Geochemically, these rocks display alkali basalt composition. They are relatively enriched in incompatible elements and exhibit narrow range of Zr (160-172ppm), Nb (21-30ppm) and Y (21-24ppm) concentrations among other elements. The concentrations of the HFSE and the REE are virtually constant. The c

The evaluation of the volcanic rocks at Ngurore quarry for use in pavements and other concretes was carried out in order to discover the source of the incessant structural and road failures where this important resource was used in the area. The sieve analysis carried out on the coarse aggregates all fall within the British standard limits. The average aggregate crushing value (ACV) and the aggregate impact value (AIV) obtained from the evaluations is 28.7% and 29.5% respectively and are within the acceptable standard limits. The study analyses the health risk assessment of the concentration of Iron, Lead, Copper, Chromium, and Cadmium heavy metals in vegetables grown near dumpsites of Jimeta and Ngurore areas of Adamawa State, Nigeria. Vegetables mainly Spinach (Spinacia oleracea) and lettuce (Lactuca sativa) were collected in triplicates and analyzed using Atomic Absorption Spectrophotometer Buck 210VGP (AAS). The result revealed that heavy metals detected in spinach at Jimeta dumpsite decreased in the following order: Fe (3.7 mg/kg) > Pb (0.18 mg/kg) > Cu (0.12 mg/kg) > Cr (0.07 mg/kg) > Cd (below li
