Numerical simulation of single point incremental forming process (SPIF) for Ni 201 sheet material was carried out using finite element analysis software and Taguchi experimental techniques. Reduction in thickness during SPIF process of the parabolic cups was estimated. Formability diagrams were drawn based on minor and major strains, and normalized major and minor stresses. The significant process parameters were identified using analysis of variance (ANOVA). Local thing along the walls of the parabolic cups were also estimated. The paper presents the microstructure and phase composition of the interface zone formed in the explosive welding process between technically pure aluminum and nickel. Low and high detonation velocities of 2000 and 2800 m/s were applied to expose the differences of the welded zone directly after the joining as well as subsequent long-term annealing. Experimental results on the fatigue damage of quasi defect-free materials in the VHCF range are presented. For nickel-based superalloys and pure nickel the likelihood of crack initiation at favorable grain morphologies is studied. Slip band and microcrack formation at the surface was observed even in run-out samples.
