Cutting out an infinite tube around r=0 formally removes the Schwarzschild singularity, but without a physical mechanism, this procedure seems ad hoc and artificial. Abstract I review the results of the decay of a non-SUSY AdS vacuum mediated by a spherical 3-brane leading to a universe that does not grow from the initial Big Bang singularity. I indicate critical values for the energy density, temperature, and scale factor for the existence of the 3-brane universe in a general scenario. Then, I embed this scenario in UV complete theory of gravity and compute the critical quantities of the 3-brane universe in terms of parameters of stringy vacua.

The existence and asymptotic behaviour of such a solution near the boundary are investigated, and we show how the nonlinear gradient term affects the results.
