Over-the-counter products rarely cause unwanted reactions in the oral cavity. Oral reactions to these agents are not specific and might present with various clinical oral findings. Detailed medical history is a key to the proper diagnosis of these lesions and fortunately other diagnostic procedures are rarely needed. Several sensitive and specific diagnostic tests are now available that allow for the rapid and accurate identification of the offending organism. The widespread indiscriminate use of some antibiotics has resulted in the emergence of organisms that are resistant to those agents at an alarming rate. The prevention of a neurosurgical site infection is usually possible with the use of prophylactic antibiotics and through careful attention to surgical technique.

Problem-solving courts (PSC) are a problem-solving approach targeting the complex needs of individuals within the criminal or family justice systems. Over the last 20 years, PSC have been introduced into the UK to address the personal, social and structural factors underlying behavioural issues that often contribute to re-offending. In June 2023, the Ministry of Justice launched three courts with problem-solving components referred to as Intensive Supervision Courts (ISC). Focusing on rehabilitative outcomes, PSC combine intervention programmes with judicial oversight through regular reviews.
