Human oral cancer is the single largest group of malignancies in the Indian subcontinent and the sixth largest group of malignancies worldwide. Squamous cell carcinomas (SCC) are the most common epithelial malignancy of the oral cavity, constituting over 90% of oral cancers. About 90% of OSCCs arise from pre-existing, potentially malignant lesions. According to WHO, OSCC has a 5-year survival rate of 45–60%. Late diagnosis, recurrence, and regional or lymph nodal metastases could be the main causes of the high mortality rates. Biomarkers may help categorize and predict premalignant lesions as

Diseases of the oral mucosa are an important and complex problem of dentistry. Due to the fact that diseases and pathological conditions of the oral cavity mucosa are diverse in etiology, pathogenesis, clinical manifestations, possible atypical course, have similarity of morphological elements, overall they characterized diseases of various organs and different body systems. In this regard, different methodological approaches are used for creating an optimal classification. P.T. Maksimenko (2012) indicated that each subsequent classification is statistical and intends to take into account dise

Oral cancer is generally preceded by some benign lesions for a varying length of time. Many of them show high potential to become cancers, and therefore termed “precancerous”. Even though only small proportion of precancer actually progress to oral cancer, this development forms a source for over 70% of oral cancers in India Aims/Objectives: An epidemiological survey was conducted in the population of Bhopal city to estimate the prevalence of potentially malignant disorder of the oral cavity. Results: Our study comprised of total 2509 samples out of which males were 1354 (54%) and

The prevalent method of preventing cervical cancer in women with precancerous conditions like Squamous Intraepithelial Lesions (SILs) is surgical. This may have some consequences, including recurrences, in young women. This case exemplifies successful management of persistent Low-Grade SIL (LSIL), detected at 31 years of age, by noninvasive integrative treatment with oral antimicrobials and oral Haridra oil extract. At the age of 36, she was treated successfully with Apamarga Kshar for persistent cervical erosion. Finally, she underwent pan-hysterectomy for an ovarian cyst at the age of 42. Ab

Oral precancerous lesions (OPLs) serve as crucial indicators of the potential progression to oral cancer, marking a pivotal stage in the disease continuum. Despite advancements in diagnostic and therapeutic modalities, oral cancer remains a significant global health challenge, necessitating a deeper understanding of OPLs for effective prevention and treatment strategies. This review aims to provide a comprehensive analysis of OPLs, covering their epidemiology, etiology, histopathology, molecular alterations, risk assessment, clinical management approaches , and discussion of challenges and fut

According to various authors, the proportion of precancerous diseases ranges from 18.2 to 19.8% among diseases of the oral mucosa. Galvanosis, in the absence of proper treatment measures, leads to the development of many diseases of the oral mucosa, including precancerous ones. 150 patients with signs of galvanosis who applied to the department of therapeutic dentistry of the TGSI were examined. Dispersed luminous particles using the Abdullahodzhaeva-Krahmalev method were identified during galvanosis of theoral cavity.

Oral precancerous lesion is a morphologically altered tissue in which oral cancer is more likely to occur than is apparently normal counterpart. As dentists always do oral examination and dental treatment, with fundamental knowledge and attention of this lesion, it is relatively easy to find one. If followed by proper treatment and management, it is possible to minimize its oral cancer progression, or at least delay it. Even if it were to progress to oral cancer, very early detection is possible. However, no specific biomarkers are present at the moment that could reveal oral precnacerous lesi
