While uncommon in orthodontics, the extraction of central incisors may be indicated when such teeth are of poor prognosis. This report details orthodontic treatment of a 13-year and 5-month-old Chinese female, who presented with Class II/1 malocclusion on a Class II skeletal jaw base relationship. Her maxillary central incisors were ankylosed and had undergone severe external root resorption following a previous traumatic episode. Orthodontic treatment involved removal of the maxillary central incisors and the mandibular first premolars. Pre-adjusted edgewise appliances with MBT prescription w

Implants obtained popularity in Orthodontics by to make easy the maximum anchorage with the minimal patient׳s compliance. In this context, osseointegrated implants has been frequently used as auxiliaries of orthodontic treatments, substituting in some cases inter maxillaries elastics and extra oral appliances. These implants show as advantage a independence in opposite the patient׳s compliance, the anchorage possibility in periodontal loss cases, over there an esthetic improvement and the comfort propitiated, showing more expected results. A case report of a 13-year old male presented in his mixed dentition stage with a Class II division 2 incisor relationship on a mild Class II skeletal base, complicated by an increased overbite, retroclined upper and lower incisors (bimaxillary retroclination) and moderate crowding in the upper and lower labial segments. Treatment was undertaken without extraction employing an upper removable appliance with a flat anterior bite plane to correct the overbite, and an anterior screw to proclined the upper incisors while waiting for the eruption of the permanent teeth. This paper describes the orthodontic treatment of two cases that were successful in winning the British Orthodontic Society (BOS) Membership in Orthodontics (MOrth) Cases Prize in 2019. The first case describes the management of a 12-year-old girl with a Class II division 2 malocclusion complicated by moderate upper and lower arch crowding, multiple unerupted teeth, restored lower first permanent molars, pseudo-transposition of the lower left lateral incisor and canine, and diminutive upper lateral incisors. Treatment involved a combination of an upper removable appliance followed by upper and

Introduction: Optimal space closure is a pivotal aspect of orthodontic treatment, particularly challenging in patients with bimaxillary protrusions and Angle’s class II division 1 malocclusion. Two primary methods, friction, and frictionless mechanisms, are employed for anterior teeth retraction. However, concerns over prolonged treatment duration and increased anchorage demands have prompted exploration into non-frictional approaches. Biomechanical properties significantly influence the efficacy of retraction loops, with ideal loops exhibiting high Moment-to-Force (M/F) ratios and low Force-t
