The study area which is part of the Nkporo Group lies within the Benin flank of the Anambra basin. This study aimed at reconstructing the palaeo-environment of the Nkporo shale outcropping in this part of the basin through field relationship and micropalaeontological studies. The field data shows that the shales are fissile, light to dark grey with intercalations of fine to medium grained sands. The fissility of the shale suggests that it was deposited in low energy environment, distal to proximal lagoon environment. The occurrences of these sandy intercalations within the shales are

(Uploaded by Plazi for the Bat Literature Project) The micromammal faunal list of the long-known locality Estrepouy (Aquitaine basin) is revised: the data from additional material are included and taxa determinations are updated. The fossil assemblage includes around thirty species (seven insectivores) and is a little older than Wintershof-West (Germany), representative locality for the MN3 level that includes more than forty species with twenty insectivores. Some differences in their micromammal faunas reveals different palaeoenvironmental conditions, certainly more dry in South-Western Franc

AbstractSkeletal remains ofHomo erectusfound in Pleistocene loess at two sites near Lantian in central China are of greatly different geologic age. The cranium found in the fossil-bearing strata at Gongwangling is about 1.15 myr old whereas the remains found at the Chenjiawo locality in middle Pleistocene loess are about 0.65 myr old. The dating is based on new paleomagnetic polarity determinations and on the lithostratigraphic position of the fossils in the loess-paleosol sequence. With stratified sequences few and far between, radiometric techniques of absolute dating still at the developmental stage, and little detailed information on palaeoenvironments, it was inevitable that the emphasis of all these studies was on the description and classification of the archaeological record, and its organisation into regional cultural sequences. Abstract On the eastern edge of the Aquitaine Basin, the Lias-Dogger transition and the events, which occurred during this time interval are studied in the Quercy sedimentary basin. Stratigraphic correlations are proposed using a biochronological calibration based on the determination of numerous ammonites and brachiopods. Facies analyses using statistical processing integrate the presence of faults and tectonic compartments and lead to reconstruction of palaeoenvironments in space and time. Abstract. Integrated analysis of foraminiferal and palynological data from the Duljan-1 well, Central Indus Basin, Pakistan, is used to identify critical surfaces (candidate sequence boundaries (SB) and maximum flooding surfaces (MFS)) and construct a biosequence stratigraphical framework. Within the Barremian through Bartonian–Priabonian? succession 15 depositional sequences have been recognized, each with a candidate MFS. These biosequences are shown to equate with the local lithostratigraphy and tentatively with the ‘global’ large-scale depositional cycles of Haq et al. (1987). Detailed dat

Early Miocene alluvial-fan to cyclic shallow-lacustrine sediments of the Aktoprak Basin consist of conglomerate, sandstone, mudstone, marl, limestone and palaeosol. Dental cementum analysis allows the accurate determination of the age and season at death of a prey.
