The encephalic microenvironment, including the extracellular matrix, is an important key factor of this lesion, already described in multiple sclerosis but not proved in canine distemper. Thereby, the aim of this work is to characterize the extracellular matrix in the encephalon of dogs with canine distemper. Samples of cortex and cerebellum of 14 naturally infected dogs with canine distemper virus were collected after being sent for necropsy in the Animal Pathology Laboratory of the Veterinary Hos

The aim of the current study is to determine the histological and histochemical characteristics of the thyroid glands in local male squirrels. So, thyroid gland tissue was freshly collected from an adult healthy local male squirrel for histological preparation and examination. All histological sections were prepared and stained with routine stains H & E, in addition to specific stains including Masson Trichrome and PAS stains. The histological results showed that thyroid glands consisted of glandular parenchyma enclosed by a capsule which mainly consisted of collagen fibers and sent septa

In the current study, Histochemistry of Pancreas showed that the use of Masson trichrome staining in Owl’s pancreas shows presence of collagen fibers in the septa between lobes and also within the capsule surrounded the organ. while this stain shows positive reaction only in capsule in Moorhen and Budgie bird pancreas. BACKGROUND The Alcian blue (AB) and periodic acid Schiff (PAS) stains are representative mucus markers in gastric signet ring cell carcinoma (SRCC). They are low-cost special staining methods used to detect acidic mucus and neutral mucus, respectively. However, the clinical importance of the special combined AB and PAS stain is unclear. AIM To investigate AB expression, PAS expression and the AB-to-PAS (A/P) ratio in gastric SRCC patients and to assess patient prognosis. METHODS Paraffin-embedded sections from 83 patients with gastric SRCC were stained with AB and PAS, and signet ring cell pos

Biopsies of skin lesions usually show massive deposits of homogeneous, acidic, hyaline-like material at the epidermal junctions and superficial dermis that stains positive for periodic acid-Schiff stain (PAS-D). AbstractThe reproductive organs of both male and female European lobsters (Homarus gammarus) are H-shaped gonads that lie dorsal to the gut on the large hepatopancreas. The ovary consists of a pair of tubular, parallel lobules with a connecting bridge. The germarium of the ovary containing oogonia is concentrated in the center of the ovarian lobe. As oogonesis proceeds, the oocytes move to the peripheral regions of the ovary. The follicle cells begin to surround the oocytes in the previtellogenic stage, and the mature oocytes are completely surrounded by the follicle cells. Carbohydrates exist

Angiogenesis is an essential process in the progression of malignant tumors. However, little is known of the angioarchitecture in primary oral malignant melanoma. We sought to determine this by the use of periodic acid-Schiff (PAS) stain, endothelial markers (CD34, CD105) and laminin, and by transmission electron microscopy in two cases. The results demonstrated that endothelium-lined vessels dominated the tumor microvasculature and these stained positively for PAS, laminin, and endothelial markers. Hydatid Cysts of Echinococcosis (CE) is a highly endemic parasitic zoonotic disease in Iraq that has a significant effect on the animals production (sheep, cattle, and goats) and human general health. It can affect any organ in the body, particularly the liver and lungs of the intermediate host. Carnivorous animals, notably dogs, operate as the definitive host for Echinococcus granulosus, whereas herbivorous animals, mostly sheep, are considered the intermediate host. Twenty liver samples afflicted with hydatid disease were acquired for this investigation, which employed a range of specialized
