Abstract Changes in oxygen evolution or uptake in illuminated plastids were studied during the early stages of greening in etiolated leaves. An oxygen uptake was observed in etioplasts, which persisted even after the appearance of oxygen evolution. This oxygen uptake was most pronounced in etioplasts or in plastids prepared after redarkening the plants. Incubation of pre-illuminated etioplasts in the presence of NADPH resulted in an inhibition of the uptake in a subsequent illumination. This work compared the effectiveness of several Methylene Blue (MB)-based protocols for photo-eradication of biofilms formed on the surface of the glass and stainless steel discs by S. aureus MRSA isolates using a diode laser (λ = 665 nm; output power 40 mW; energy fluence was 189 J cm−2). The photolytic decomposition of the Trikhlorbifenil mixture, 2,4,5- and 2,4,6-trichlorobiphenyls under an influence of ultraviolet radiation in presence of tungsten oxide as a catalyst in a methanol medium was studied. A higher rate of photolysis of individual congeners of polychlorbiphenyls was established compared to the congeners of the Trikhlorbifenil mixture. The influence of structural features of polychlorarenes on a depth of photodecomposition and a routes of formation of photodestruction products was considered.

Abstract The uptake of protoporphyrin IX by Propionibacterium acnes in suspension has been studied by fluorescence spectroscopy. Protoporphyrin, after it was injected into a cell suspension, was firstly bound to receptors on the cell surface and in this state protoporphyrin was non-fluorescent.
