The life cycle of Streptocara crassicauda (Creplin, 1829) was studied experimentally in the amphipod Hyalella azteca (Saussure). Of 2946 H. azteca that survived exposure, 699 were infected. The COVID-19 pandemic continues to affect the world. Wuhan, the epicenter of the outbreak, underwent a 76-day lockdown. Research has indicated that the lockdown negatively impacted the quality of life of older individuals, but little is known about their specific experiences during the confinement period. Qualitative interviews were conducted with 20 elderly residents of Wuhan, aged 65 to 85, who experienced mandatory isolation throughout the pandemic. Aims Two-stage exchange arthroplasty is the most common definitive treatment for prosthetic joint infection (PJI) in the USA. Complications that occur during treatment are often not considered. The purpose of this study was to analyze complications in patients undergoing two-stage exchange for infected total knee arthroplasty (TKA) and determine when they occur. Methods We analyzed all patients that underwent two-stage exchange arthroplasty for treatment of PJI of the knee from January 2010 to December 2018 at a single institution. Abstract Previous reports from our lab and others have shown differential vaccinia virus (VACV) binding to and infection of primary human leukocyte subsets, and that VACV preferentially binds and infects antigen-presenting cells (APCs). Although various groups have examined VACV infection in monocytes, macrophages, and dendritic cells, few studies have evaluated VACV binding and infection in primary B cells, a main type of APCs. In this study, we evaluated VACV binding to and infection of primary human B cells at various stages of differentiation. We observed plasmablasts were resistant to VAC
