Postpartum depression (PPD) is a well- recognized public health problem with a predictable onset beginning after childbirth and lasting from 3 to 14 months. Studies consistently report that cases of PPD are not identified and treated which results in serious personal, family, and social consequences (Webster et al., 2000). Therefore, it is of great importance that this disorder be diagnosed and treated early to prevent these deleterious consequences. The reported prevalence for PPD ranges from 3.5% to 33% depending upon assessment criteria used (Whifen as cited in Evins et al., 2000). T

Background: Postpartum depression is a common complication after birth and affects approximately 13-19% of women each year. Many women currently have antidepressant drugs prescribed and would therefore benefit from a treatment option without adverse side effects, in this case physical activity. Physical activity is considered to have an effect on mental health in general as exercise breaks down the destructive and negative thoughts you have by distracting. Aim: The aim of this study was to determine whether physical activity can affect the mental well-being of women with postpartum depression.

Men as well as women are affected by the life-changing events of pregnancy and childbirth. The nature of fatherhood and the role of the male in the birthing process have undergone significant changes in the past several decades. While this phenomenon has been well-documented regarding the changes a father experiences during a healthy pregnancy and birth, there is little research that addresses the implications for the man when his spouse or partner is diagnosed with postpartum depression. Approximately 10 to 20% of birth mothers are affected by some form of this disorder (Greenberg & Springen,

Background Alterations of mental status are characteristic of psychiatric disorders but may also result from a multitude of organic causes. Generally, physical examination and blood analysis are a part of basic psychiatric differential diagnostics, whereas more sophisticated procedures (for example, brain imaging) are applied only in cases with pathologic diagnostic findings. Our report challenges this approach by describing a case of glioblastoma multiforme presenting as postpartum depression without abnormalities in basic differential diagnostics.
