A central question in quantum information theory is to determine how well lost information can be reconstructed. Crucially, the corresponding recovery operation should perform well without knowing the information to be reconstructed. In this work, we show that the quantum conditional mutual information measures the performance of such recovery operations. More precisely, we prove that the conditional mutual information I ( A : C | B ) of a tripartite quantum state ρ ABC can be bounded from below by its distance to the closest recovered state R B → B C ( ρ A B ) , where the C -part is reconstru

One mechanism for the reappearance of G protein-coupled receptors after agonist activation is microtubule-based transport. In pressure-overload cardiac hypertrophy, there is downregulation of G protein-coupled receptors and the appearance of a densified microtubule network extensively decorated by a microtubule-associated protein, MAP 4. Our hypothesis is that overdecoration of a dense microtubule network with this structural protein, as in hypertrophied myocardium, would impede receptor recovery. In coastal areas and islands, farmlands often lack of nutrients. This research assessed the precipitation of phosphorus presenting in urine in the form of struvite of magnesium ammonium phosphate (MAP) by adding of supplement of Mg2+ ion from MgCl2 solution contained in seawater (Cat Ba island area). The urine and seawater have been mixed at different ratios. The results have shown [Mg]:[PO4] ratios ranging from 0.75 to 5.26 allowed the precipitation of more than 90% of the phosphorus in the urine. Seawater – to – urine ratios of 0.67/1, 1.3/1, 3.2/1, 5/1, 7/1 and 9/1 in volume would give phos

Sympathetic influences have been implicated in arrhythmias associated with both congenital and acquired long Q-T intervals. We recorded epicardial electrograms, a left ventricular endocardial monophasic action potential (MAP), and a bipolar electrocardiogram in 23 isolated rabbit hearts. Spontaneous focal arrhythmias appeared within 8–18 min following 92 μM d-sotalol in 15 of 23 hearts. The epicardial activation-recovery interval was shorter at baseline and increased to a significantly greater degree after d-sotalol administration in the hearts that developed focal activity. An attractive way of recovering essential phosphorus from digested sludge of a WWTP is the precipitation in the sludge directly, as part of the continuous treatment process. For optimizing the precipitation, 1 litre-batch tests were performed in a model system to examine the MAP-crystallization kinetics. Different parameters such as e.g. the aeration flow rate were investigated. The aim was to find an optimized setting for a pilot reactor for the continuous production of MAP. This reactor performed as an airlift reactor for an improved mixing and stripping the dissolved CO2 and separating the

Esophageal cancer, although considered uncommon in the United States, continues to exhibit increased incidence. Esophageal cancer now ranks seventh among cancers in mortality for men in the United States. Even as treatment continues to advance, the mortality rate remains high, with a 5-year survival rate less than 35%. Esophageal cancer typically is discovered in advanced stages, which reduces the treatment options. When disease is locally advanced, esophagectomy remains the standard for treatment. Surgery remains challenging and complicated. Multiple surgical approaches are available, with th

Muscle metaboreflex activation (MMA) during submaximal dynamic exercise in normal individuals increases mean arterial pressure (MAP) via increases in cardiac output (CO) with little peripheral vasoconstriction. The rise in CO occurs primarily via increases in heart rate (HR) with maintained or slightly increased stroke volume. When the reflex is sustained during recovery (postexercise muscle ischemia, PEMI), HR declines yet MAP remains elevated. The role of CO in mediating the pressor response during PEMI is controversial. In seven chronically instrumented canines, steady-state values with MMA

Fertilizer-drawn forward osmosis (FDFO) is a potential alternative to recover and reuse water and nutrients from agricultural wastewater, such as palm oil mill effluent that consists of 95% water and is rich in nutrients. This study investigated the potential of commercial fertilizers as draw solution (DS) in FDFO to treat anaerobic palm oil mill effluent (An-POME). The process parameters affecting FO were studied and optimized, which were then applied to fertilizer selection based on FO performance and fouling propensity. Six commonly used fertilizers were screened and assessed in terms of pu

A rigorous derivation of the K = Cpi − Cp diffuser recovery and loss equation is presented and the critical assumptions to yield this simplified relationship are critiqued. Qualified confirmation of the equation is achieved using precise laboratory data. A new diffuser loss-map is presented which facilitates engineering diffuser design work, even when a recovery map is unavailable. Numerous application examples for turbomachinery analysis are given including the application to a turbomachinery cascade with strong turning.

Most haze removal methods are based on the classical haze imaging model, which can effectively describe the image from the haze, where one of the key factors is the atmospheric light. Existing methods either depend on the user input or keep to the color constancy. In this paper, we present a new and effective method for computing the atmospheric light based on the salient region of the input haze image. The method computes the salient map and the darkness channel map of the input image and adaptively selects the region of the atmospheric light according to the assumption that the atmospheric l
