This paper focuses on the fate of Jaroslav Klecan, a native from southern Bohemia, a pre-war member of the Communist Party who had left as a volunteer for the Spanish Civil War in late 1937. He fought in the battalion T. G. Masaryk of the 129th interbrigade. After the fall of the Spanish Republic, he was interned in the French camp in Gurs. When the Second World War begun he enrolled to the Czechoslovak Army, albeit he was probably never committed at the front. After the French capitulation, he stayed in the free zone and joined the French resistance movement in the FTP-MOI group led by Ladislav Holdoš. However, the Comintern soon ordered him and few other Czechoslovak Resistance fighters to return to the occupied homeland. Klecan arrived to the Protectorate in 1941 and affiliated the Communist resistance movement in Bohemia immediately. He was arrested by the Nazi secret police on 24 April 1942, together with Julius Fučík and others. After a series of interrogations, the German People’s Court sentenced him to death and he was executed in Berlin-Plötzensee on 8 September 1943. He is known as “Mirek” from Fučík’s Notes from the Gallows.

The present paper focuses on how the Czechoslovak society received and reacted to the live radio broadcasting of FIFA World Cup in 1934. The public listening to the running commentaries raised the interest in sports among new social strata and in new geographic areas of the then Czechoslovakia. Radio broadcastings undoubtedly provoked a higher sensibility of listeners, as the example examined in this paper of the spread of rumours concerning the death of several Czechoslovak players, proved. The last part of the present paper looks at how the broadcasting of FIFA World Cup became a Czechoslovakian site of memory.

Research entitled Implementation of Journalistic Ethics in Television Program Evaluative (Journalistic Evaluative Study On Impression Reporting Episode Investigation "Ayam Kampus") The problem formulation is how to depict the application of journalistic ethics in the program of Reportage Investigation in TRANS TV episode "Ayam kampus". used in this study is a qualitative method by using visual materials and interviews to analyze the data Analysis of data used by researchers based on journalistic ethics and in addition also through communication ethics Based on the results of research conducted it can be concluded that there are many parts based on journalistic ethics judging from the journalistic code of ethics on TRansTV Investigation Reports. Penelitian berjudul Penerapan Etika Jurnalistik Dalam Program Acara Televisi (Studi Evaluatif Jurnalistik Pada Tayangan Reportase Investigasi Episode “Ayam Kampus”). Rumusan masalahnya aadalah; Bagaimana gambaran penerapan etika jurnalistik dalam program acara Reportase Investigasi di TRANS TV episode “Ayam Kampus”. Metode yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah metode Kualitatif dengan menggunakan bahan visual dan wawancara untuk menganalisis data. Analisis data yang digunakan peneliti berpedoman pada etika jurnalistik dan sebagai tambahan juga melalui etika komunikasi. Berdasarkan hasil penelitian yang dilakukan dapat disimpulkan bahwa sudah banyak bagian yang berpedoman pada etika jurnalistik dilihat dari kode etik jurnalistik pada tayangan Reportase Investigasi TRansTV.

I sustain in my book El reportaje como metodologia del periodismo: una polifonia de saberes (Reportage as the methodology of journalism: polyphony of knowledge), (Osorio, 2017), that journalism leads, guides, interprets, explains, teaches and above all deeply tries to understand the world and its running; thus its essence is freedom of thought, expression and social dialogue or conversation to set in place and to enhance consensus and democratic participation. In this process, journalism shows and enlightens ways (methods) through reportage, which has been very much so studied as a journalist genre around the world; countless books and articles have been published about it and several universities have granted PhD titles for theses written about it. The North American and European bibliography on it is abundant - which has been taken in consideration at this research - and widely known; but little is known of what has been done in our South American continent. Therefore, in this book I put in perspective two major examples: Brazil and Colombia. Nevertheless, I must emphasize that when this subject is addressed, it is done so through the lens of journalistic genres, but not under the dimension of the methodology of journalism, which has been away from the eyes of theoreticians, scholars and researchers. In this sense, my book is an epistemological turn, as it is innovative and pioneer for contributing with another vision, which studies, analyses and proposes reportage as the methodology of journalism, by presenting some findings and by opening new theoretical perspectives in literary journalism.No meu livro A reportagem como como metodologia do jornalismo. Uma polifonia de saberes (Osorio, 2017), sustento que o jornalismo orienta, guia, interpreta, explica, ensina e acima de tudo tenta compreender em profundidade o mundo e suas ações; por isso sua essência é a liberdade de pensamento, de expressão e de diálogo social ou conversação para pôr em comum e fortalecer o consenso e a participação democrática. Nesse processo, o jornalismo mostra e ilumina caminhos (métodos) através da reportagem, que em todo o mundo tem sido amplamente estudada como gênero jornalístico; e em torno dela tem-se publicado numerosos livros e artigos, e em diversas universidades foram concedidos títulos de doutorado por teses feitas sobre o tema. A bibliografia europeia e americana que tratam o assunto é abundante – e que tive em conta para esta pesquisa –, é de conhecimento geral; mas o que é produzido em nosso próprio continente é desconhecido. Por isso, nesse livro, concentrei-me em dois exemplos importantes: o que foi feito no Brasil e na Colômbia. No entanto, devo reiterar que, quando o tema proposto é abordado, se faz desde a ótica dos gêneros jornalísticos, mas não sob a dimensão da metodologia do jornalismo, que tem estado oculta as miradas dos estudiosos, teóricos e acadêmicos. Neste sentido, o meu livro constitui um giro epistemológico, pois é inovador e pioneiro ao contribuir com outra visão, que estuda, analisa e propõe a reportagem como metodologia do jornalismo, ao mostrar algumas descobertas e abrir novas perspectivas sobre as teorias do jornalismo literário.En mi libro El reportaje como metodología del periodismo. En ese proceso, el periodismo muestra e ilumina caminos (métodos) a través del reportaje, que en todo el mundo ha sido muy estudiado como género periodístico; en torno a él se han publicado numerosos libros y artículos, y en diversas universidades se han otorgado títulos de doctorado por tesis realizadas sobre el tema. La bibliografía europea y estadounidense al respecto, que es abundante – y que he tenido en cuenta para esta investigación –, es de conocimiento general; pero se desconoce lo producido en nuestro propio continente. Por eso en ese libro me centré en dos ejemplos importantes: lo hecho en Brasil y en Colombia. Sin embargo, debo reiterar que cuando se aborda el tema propuesto, se hace desde la óptica de los géneros periodísticos, pero no bajo la dimensión de la metodología del periodismo, que ha estado oculta a las miradas de estudiosos, teóricos y académicos. En este sentido, mi libro constituye un giro epistemológico, pues es novedoso y pionero al contribuir con otra visión, que estudia, analiza y propone el reportaje como metodología del periodismo, al mostrar algunos hallazgos y al abrir nuevas perspectivas sobre las teorías del periodismo literario.

As a journalistic genre, reportage is determined by the context in which it is produced. It transports the reader to a specific time and place, but, unlike the news, it does not depend on current events. Therefore, a reporter is not constrained by brevity and, like any other author, aims to develop their own style. This was the case of Ryszard Kapuściński, who was the Polish Press Agency’s only correspondent in Latin America from 1967 to 1972. After this experience, Kapuściński returned several times to the continent from 2001 to 2005 and gave lectures for the Fundacion Nuevo Periodismo Iberomericano, founded by Gabriel Garcia Marquez. His reportages about the continent are considered highly political (in fact Artur Domosławski describes him as a naive “true believer” in communism during his stay as a correspondent). This article, however, views the significance of his time on the new continent from a different perspective. Was the most important Latin American influence on Kapuściński actually the style and genre that he developed as he explored a new kind of reportage: ‘‘magical journalism”? Reportaż jako gatunek dziennikarski jest zdeterminowany przez kontekst, w którym powstaje. Przenosi czytelnika w określony czas i konkretne miejsce, ale w przeciwieństwie do newsów nie jest zależny od bieżących wydarzeń. Dlatego reporter nie jest skrępowany wymogiem zwięzłości i jak każdy inny autor dąży do wypracowania własnego stylu. Tak było w wypadku Ryszarda Kapuścińskiego, który w latach 1967–1972 był jedynym korespondentem Polskiej Agencji Prasowej w Ameryce Łacińskiej. Po tym doświadczeniu Kapuściński kilkakrotnie wracał na ten kontynent w latach 2001–2005 i prowadził wykłady dla Fundacion Nuevo Periodismo Iberomericano, założonej przez Gabriela Garcię Marqueza. Jego reportaże o Ameryce Łacińskiej są uważane za wysoce polityczne (Artur Domosławski opisuje Kapuścińskiego korespondenta w tamtym regionie jako naiwnego „prawdziwego wyznawcę” komunizmu). W niniejszym artykule spojrzymy jednak na znaczenie jego pobytu na nowym kontynencie z innej perspektywy. Czy własny styl, który rozwinął, zgłębiając nowy rodzaj reportażu: „dziennikarstwo magiczne”, nie okazał się najważniejszym owocem jego zagłębiania się w świat latynoamerykańskiej kultury?

Cílem práce je srovnání procesů výroby reportáže v celoplošně vysílajících televizích v České republice a IT podporou procesů. Je sestaven obecný procesní model. Srovnávána byla i část IS/IT, kterou redaktor využívá pro tvorbu reportáže. Cílem práce bylo zjistit odlišnosti v procesech a IS/IT a čím jsou odlišnosti způsobeny a jaký mají vliv na práci redaktora. V práci je řešen i vliv procesů na kvalitu reportáží a čím je kvalita určena. Výsledkem jsou návrhy na změny, které by měli vést k větší efektivitě práce. Součástí práce je přehled možností vzniku desinformace v procesu výroby reportáže.

This investigation of the origins and impact of the 'new reportage' in the '30s interrogates the 'dominant tradition' of documentary, i.e. an 'objective' recording of facts and historical events, by reconstructing an alternative 'broken' tradition of radical reporting which was both 'counterfactual' and criticised the status of documents (including photographs and film) as privileged forms of realistic representation. The implications of Russian Formalist 'defamiliarization' led to an avant-garde 'literature of fact' in the USSR and Weimar Germany, inspired by John Reed's Ten Days that Shook the World, with the potential not only to represent suppressed facts but to subvert 'automatized' concepts, thus challenging official paradigms defining historically significant data and putting the model of reality constructed by dominant ideology under strain, as the work of the LEF group and Egon Erwin Kisch shows. The new reportage was self- consciously mediating and 'bared its devices', often using montage to expose the construetedness of discourses. Hence the thesis maps the growth of a parallel alternative reportage in '30s Britain which did not simply resuscitate the realistic project of Naturalism but built on the Modernist legacy, examining in detail the work of Orwell, Sommerfield, Priestley, and Hanley among others. The thesis focuses on prose forms of reportage, from individual I-witnessing in articles and autobiographies, to 'participant observation', documentary novels, encyclopaedism, Mass-Observation and photojournalism, outlining the historical and cultural factors which gave reportage literary prominence at the time, as well as issues, such as unemployment, poverty and Appeasement, which it represented. Consequently, it explores the ways and means by which new reporters expressed their awareness of connections between political and cultural representation, in order to question authorized representations of fact and the sanctioned national self-image.

The aim of this thesis was to examine what stories the Swedish periodical Fokus write about in their main reportage, "Veckans reportage", and how they express their stories. Through the survey we wanted to examine which topics, areas and actors that occurred in the texts during the year of 2008. We studied Fokus in two parts. In the first part we read every "Veckans reportage" published in 2008, which is 43 reportages, and categorized them into groups based on topics, areas and actors. The result helped us to pick two representative texts to analyse further. The method we used in the second part of the survey was discourse analysis, with focus on actors, metaphors and representations.

The results of the first part showed that Fokus has a major Swedish perspective, either by topics about Swedish issues or by international topics and what influence they might have on Sweden. The most common topics during the year of 2008 were about politics and about social and welfare issues. The main actors in the texts were politicians and common people. The results showed that most of them were men.

The results of the second part showed that they write about the topics in a typical way for reportage, with detailed descriptions of places, surroundings and people. We also saw that the discourses that appeared in the two reportages corresponded to the given topics in the texts.

Denna undersöknings främsta teoretiska utgångspunkt är att medier på ett eller annat sätt påverkar människors uppfattning av verkligheten. Medierna kan visa oss de dimensioner av verkligheten vi inte själva har möjligheten att uppleva och blir då ofta vår enda källa till information. Därför finns ett intresse att undersöka hur medier framställer sådana situationer och händelser. Undersökningen har begränsats till hur två av Sveriges största dagstidningar, Dagens Nyheter och Svenska Dagbladet, i sina reportage, framställt den ebolasituation som pågått i Västafrika under det senaste året. Detta har undersökts med hjälp av en kvalitativ analys av innehållet, där fokus lagts på att urskilja generella mönster och drag som karaktäriserar framställningen. Under den valda sökperioden har endast åtta reportage publicerats och samtliga av dem inom en tvåmånadersperiod. Värt att notera är det faktum att ebolasituationen enbart framställts utifrån ett av de drabbade länderna i Västafrika, Liberia. Analysen av materialet har påvisat flertalet relevanta mönster, bland annat att situationen framställts gå från allvarlig till kontrollerad trots att ebolaepidemin varit fortsatt pågående månader efter att det sista reportaget publicerats. Det har även konstaterats att majoriteten av personerna i reportagen har kopplingar till Läkare utan gränser, vilket dessutom är den organisation som spelar överlägset störst roll i den sammantagna bild som framställts i reportagen. Med hänsyn till undersökningens resultat har det sedan avslutningsvis getts förslag på eventuell fortsatt forskning, däribland att det skulle kunna vara av intresse att vidare studera hur ebolasituationen framställts i medieinnehåll som inte producerats inom samma kulturella ramar. Detta skulle kunna ge en bredare bild och öppna upp för kulturella jämförelser i framställningen av ebolasituationen.

I slutet av februari 2017 utnämns Kjell Jonevret till ny tränare för den sydafrikanska storklubben Orlando Pirates. Efter att tidigare endast ha varit verksam i Sverige och Norge väntar nu en helt ny utmaning för den svenske 54-åringen. I Orlando Pirates brottas han med utmaningar som en stor och svårhanterad spelartrupp, en luddig organisation samt höga krav och förväntningar. Vi åkte ner till Sydafrika för att på plats följa hans dagliga arbete i en av hela Afrikas största klubbar. Vi analyserar vår arbetsprocess utifrån journalistiska principer om bland annat nyhetsvärdering, undersökningsmetoder, källor och etik. Vi analyserar också svåra beslut som vi har tvingats ta under processen. Vi har kommit till slutsatsen att vi på ett bra sätt har följt god journalistisk sed samt vetenskapliga principer. I en del etiska dilemman vi har ställt inför har vi kanske inte alltid tagit rätt beslut, men vi är övertygade om att det har varit nödvändiga övertramp för att kunna genomföra arbetet och skriva vårt reportage.

This thesis is a practice-based inquiry into contemporary Reportage Drawing in the UK. The role of the practice in present day, its various forms and purposes and how digital media has influenced both the working process and reception of such work, is discussed through comparisons of visual work and theoretical engagement from practitioners. Verbal and visual contributions from current artists about their methods, means and motivations are included to present a clear picture of the varied forms of documentary drawing. This research is structured around questions and issues raised about the process of Reportage Drawing from original reportage drawings made observing everyday life in Kisumu, western Kenya. It begins with a brief historical overview of Reportage Drawing and develops with chapters visually engaging with the drawings from Kisumu and other artist's contirbutions. The main body of drawings is designed to be viewed as a visual display as specific groups of drawings create a dialogue about the various issues raised. At the heart of this research is the investigation into observational drawing, the presence of the reportage artist as a documenter of the every day and the question of the importance of this specific field of art. Attention is paid to the practical aspects of making work as this often influences artists' choice in engaging in this form of drawing while reasons behind the commissioning of reportage artists are also elaborated on. This all contributes to the objectives of this thesis, which is to create the start of a database of contemporary reportage artists, present a clear picture of the nature of reportage drawing in' present day, including its limitations, and reflect on my own work in the light of others' while championing this practice.

This thesis looks at the economics of mass media from a variety of perspectives. The main aim is to analyse the key factors that influence media reporting behaviour, and in turn the impact of reportage on individual decision-making processes. The first chapter provides a brief summary of the contextual background of this thesis, by presenting the main points tackled in the subsequent chapters as well as a concise overview of the main contributions across various fields of study. The second chapter explores the relationship between advertisers and the media using a simple model of horizontal and vertical product differentiation in a duopolistic setting. In this framework, when a news story is published one firm will benefit in terms of higher consumer demand and profits, while the other will suffer. Firms can influence the media's decision to publish the news story or withhold it via advertising expenditure. The main result shows that in equilibrium when news signals conform to people's prior beliefs, extreme or strong stories will be withheld from publication by the media. This is because strong stories will result in a drastic decline in profits for one firm, thus providing it with an incentive to switch over and change its production process to mimic the other (beneficiary) firm, thereby eliminating vertical product differentiation. Therefore, the beneficiary firm would have an incentive to ensure that the news story is withheld to prevent this increase in competition and the subsequent erosion of its profit margins. The results provide an alternative rationale to explain recent evidence on under-reporting by the U.S. media in relation to various issues like climate change and the nutritional content of food. The third chapter looks at the responsiveness of individual private behaviour to media coverage of a particular news story. Survey data on charitable gift-giving in the U.S. are used in order to analyse the impact of newspaper coverage of the 2004 Indian Ocean tsunami on both the likelihood and magnitude of monetary disbursements towards the relief effort. The identification strategy employed in this paper exploits differences in county-level growth rates of violent crime in order to account for the variation in newspaper coverage of the tsunami, thus circumventing potential endogeneity problems. The results show that media coverage only had a modest effect on people's decision to donate or not, but conversely had a significant and non-trivial impact on the amount of money donated. Furthermore, this impact was larger for young adults within the 25-34 age bracket and individuals who had undertaken some form of voluntary work in the previous year. These results hold even after the implementation of various robustness tests, and serve to highlight the growing influence of the media on people's behaviour. The final chapter analyses the impact of media reports on electoral outcomes, and in particular the extent to which soft or sensationalist news reportage influences voting. Survey data on individual voting behaviour during the 2000 U.S. Presidential election is used, together with a novel dataset on the amount of coverage afforded to the Monica Lewinsky scandal over the period January 17, 1998 to August 31, 2000. We first show that Lewinsky coverage was not driven by the newspapers' political bias, but rather by other factors including tabloid journalism. This independence enables us to focus solely on the impact of media reports on voting, in contrast to the rest of the literature which deals with the electoral influence of politically-biased media outlets. We then look at how newspaper coverage of the Lewinsky scandal influenced voting patterns in the 2000 U.S. Presidential election. To account for potential endogeneity issues we use county-level variation in the number of deaths caused by extreme weather events as an instrument for Lewinsky articles. We find that media coverage of the scandal had a positive and statistically significant impact on the likelihood of voting for George W. Bush, and conversely a negative influence on the probability of voting for Al Gore: this pattern is visible among both Democrats and Republicans. The results are robust to various tests, and raise several questions regarding the media's role within the democratic process.

Objetivo: Identificar oportunamente la comorbilidad existente entre el abuso de múltiples sustancias y los trastornos mentales, ya que esta situación coloca al paciente psiquiátrico en una situación de vulnerabilidad. Describir la evolución psicopatológica y su correlación con el consumo de sustancias, que condiciona incremento en exacerbaciones clínicas, condicionando cronicidad y empeoramiento paulatino. Material y métodos: Se realizará un reporte de caso mediante el estudio retrospectivo de expediente clínico, el cual abarca 14 internamientos en Hospital Psiquiátrico Fray Bernardino Álvarez y consta de 5 tomos. Se analizará la correlación entre las exacerbaciones del trastorno psiquiátrico de base y el consumo de sustancias. Resultados y conclusiones: Se trata de paciente masculino de 38 años, el cual inicia con consumo de múltiples sustancias desde los 12 años, agregándose a los 18 años síntomas afectivos maníacos y psicóticos, ameritando desde entonces al menos 14 internamientos en Hospital Psiquiátrico Fray Bernardino Álvarez, secundario a errores de juicio y conducta graves, manía, agresividad física indiscriminada, entre otros, en cada una de las hospitalizaciones se establece correlación entre ambas patologías, identificándose plenamente como factor desencadenante de exacerbaciones del trastorno psiquiátrico de base el consumo de sustancias, lo cual aunado a nulo apego al tratamiento y pobre soporte familiar han contribuido a una evolución clínica tórpida. Tras última hospitalización, hace aproximadamente un año, actualmente se encuentra con adecuado apego a tratamiento y seguimiento médico debido a una parcial advertencia de enfermedad, aparentemente sin consumo de sustancias desde su egreso, manteniéndose asintomático, lo cual corrobora la importancia de brindar manejo multidisciplinario tanto al aspecto del consumo de sustancias, como al padecimiento psiquiátrico de base en espera de un mejor pronóstico en la vida del usuario.

Introducción: La alfa-PVP o alfa-pirrolidinovalerofenona, también conocida como “Flakka”, es sustancia psicoactiva perteneciente al grupo de las catinonas sintéticas. En los últimos años, se ha reportado que esta molécula se está utilizando como nueva sustancia psicoactiva en diferentes regiones en el mundo. Aunque la literatura sobre los efectos en humanos sobre esta sustancia es limitada, de acuerdo a su acción como estimulante, algunos reportes de casos han descrito su capacidad para producir síntomas similares a otras sustancias estimulantes, como taquicardia, hipertensión, diaforesis, insomnio, convulsiones, síntomas psicóticos, agitación psicomotriz y cuadros confusionales. Presentación del caso: En el presente trabajo, describimos el caso de un varón mayor de edad, con antecedente de diagnóstico de VIH en tratamiento y sin antecedentes psiquiátricos conocidos, que acudió a los servicios de urgencias del Hospital La Fe por un episodio psicótico inducido por el uso de esta nueva sustancia. Conclusiones: Este caso ilustra los potenciales efectos perjudiciales a nivel psicopatológico derivados del consumo de esta sustancia en humanos. En el contexto de un incremento en el abuso de esta sustancia y la no disponibilidad de su determinación en los análisis rutinarios realizados en urgencias, supone un reto clínico el correcto diagnóstico de este perfil de pacientes.

El sistema financiero colombiano no ha sufrido mayores traumatismos estructurales durante estos meses de profunda contracción económica, y ha continuado prestando con normalidad sus funciones básicas, facilitando la respuesta de la economía a condiciones extremas. Ello es el resultado de la solidez de las entidades financieras al inicio de la crisis, reflejada en elevados indicadores de liquidez y solvencia, y de la oportuna respuesta de distintas entidades. El Banco de la República redujo 250 puntos sus tasas de interés de política, hasta 1,75%, el menor nivel desde la creación del nuevo Banco independiente en 1991, y otorgó amplia liquidez transitoria y permanente, tanto en pesos como en moneda extranjera. Por su parte, la Superintendencia Financiera de Colombia adoptó medidas prudenciales para facilitar cambios en las condiciones de los créditos vigentes y reglas transitorias de calificación y constitución de provisiones. Finalmente, el Gobierno Nacional expandió las transferencias y los programas de créditos garantizados a la economía. El acervo de crédito real (i.e. descontando la inflación) en la economía supera hoy en 4% el de hace 12 meses, con crecimientos especialmente marcados en la cartera de vivienda (5,6%) y comercial (4,7%) (2,3% en consumo y -0,1% en microcrédito), pero ha habido cambios importantes en el tiempo. En los meses iniciales de la cuarentena las firmas elevaron fuertemente sus demandas por liquidez, y los consumidores las redujeron, mientras que en los meses recientes la dinámica del crédito a las firmas ha tendido a desacelerarse, y la del crédito a los consumidores y a la vivienda ha crecido. El sistema financiero ha respondido satisfactoriamente a la evolución de la demanda relativa de cada grupo o sector, y el crédito posiblemente crecerá a tasas altas en 2021 si el PIB crece a tasas cercanas a 4,6% como lo espera el equipo técnico del Banco, pero los pronósticos son altamente inciertos. Luego de la fuerte cuarentena implementada por las autoridades en Colombia, las turbulencias observadas en marzo y comienzos de abril, evidentes en el enrojecimiento repentino de variables macroeconómicas en el mapa de riesgos del Gráfico A , y la caída en los precios del petróleo y el carbón (nótese las altas volatilidades registradas en la región de riesgo de mercado del Gráfico A), los mercados financieros locales se estabilizaron con relativa rapidez. En esta estabilización tuvo un papel determinante la respuesta de política creíble y sostenida del Banco de la República en lo referente a la provisión de liquidez, con una fuerte expansión de operaciones repo (y variaciones en montos, plazos, contrapartes e instrumentos admisibles), la compra definitiva de deuda pública y privada, y la reducción del encaje de los bancos. En este sentido, hoy se observa abundante liquidez agregada y mejoras importantes en la posición de liquidez de los fondos de inversión colectiva. En este contexto, el principal factor de incertidumbre para la estabilidad financiera en el corto plazo continúa siendo el alto grado de incertidumbre que rodea a la calidad de la cartera. En primer lugar, es incierta la trayectoria futura del número de contagiados y fallecidos como consecuencia del virus y la eventual necesidad de medidas sanitarias adicionales. Por tal razón, también existe incertidumbre sobre la senda de recuperación de la economía en el corto y mediano plazo. En segundo lugar, es incierto el grado en que el choque actual se reflejará en la calidad de la cartera una vez se materialice el riesgo en los estados financieros. De momento, el mapa de riesgos (Gráfico B) indica que la cartera vencida y la cartera riesgosa no han mostrado mayores deterioros, pero la experiencia histórica indica que períodos de fuerte desaceleración económica tienden a coincidir eventualmente con aumentos de la cartera vencida: los cálculos incluidos en este reporte sugieren que el impacto de la recesión sobre la calidad del crédito en el corto plazo podría ser significativo. Ello es particularmente preocupante teniendo en cuenta que la rentabilidad de los establecimientos de crédito ha venido reduciéndose en meses recientes, lo cual podría afectar su capacidad para otorgar crédito al sector real de la economía. Con el fin de adoptar un enfoque prospectivo de cara a las vulnerabilidades identificadas, este reporte presenta varios ejercicios de sensibilidad (stress tests) que evalúan la resiliencia de la liquidez y la solvencia de los establecimientos de crédito y de los fondos de inversión colectiva ante escenarios hipotéticos que buscan aproximarse a una versión extrema de las condiciones económicas actuales. Los resultados sugieren que, en tales escenarios, se observarían fuertes impactos sobre el volumen de crédito y la rentabilidad de los establecimientos de crédito, aunque los indicadores agregados de solvencia total y básica permanecerían en niveles superiores a los límites regulatorios durante el horizonte de los ejercicios. Al tiempo, los ejercicios resaltan la alta capacidad que tiene la liquidez del sistema para enfrentar escenarios adversos. El Banco de la República, con el Reporte de Sistemas de Pago, entrega un panorama completo de la infraestructura financiera local, siendo este un producto importante de la labor de seguimiento a dicha infraestructura. Las cifras contenidas en este reporte corresponden al año 2020, período de pandemia durante el cual las medidas de confinamiento para aliviar la tensión sobre el sistema de salud generaron para Colombia, al igual que en la mayoría de los países, una fuerte reducción de la actividad económica y el consumo. Desde el comienzo de la pandemia, la Junta Directiva del Banco de la República adoptó las decisiones necesarias para otorgar al mercado amplia liquidez en pesos y dólares, garantizar la estabilidad de los mercados, proteger el sistema de pagos y preservar la oferta de crédito. El pronunciado crecimiento de los agregados monetarios reflejó la mayor preferencia por liquidez, la cual fue atendida oportunamente por el Banco de la República. Las decisiones adoptadas se realizaron mediante diferentes operaciones, las cuales fueron compensadas y liquidadas en la infraestructura financiera. Después de la introducción, la segunda sección del presente reporte de pagos analiza la evolución y el desempeño de las diferentes infraestructuras financieras. Se destaca que el sistema de pagos de alto valor CUD registró en 2020 un mayor dinamismo que el año anterior, principalmente por el aumento de los depósitos remunerados que en promedio diario realizó la Dirección General de Crédito Público y del Tesoro Nacional (DGCPTN) con el Banco de República, así como una mayor actividad del mercado de simultáneas de deuda pública. Consecuentemente con el crecimiento de la actividad en el CUD, el Depósito Central de Valores (DCV) registró una mayor actividad por el aumento del mercado monetario de deuda pública y por las colocaciones por parte del Gobierno Nacional en el mercado primario. El valor de las operaciones compensadas y liquidadas por intermedio de la Cámara de Riesgo Central de Contraparte (CRCC) continúa creciendo, jalonado principalmente por los contratos non delivery forward (NDF) peso/dólar. Con respecto a la CRCC, es oportuno mencionar que a partir de finales del año pasado esta cámara se encarga de administrar los riesgos y de compensar y liquidar las operaciones del mercado de contado peso/dólar, debido a la fusión con la Cámara de Compensación de Divisas de Colombia (CCDC). Así mismo, a partir del último trimestre del año 2020 la CRCC se encarga de compensar y liquidar el mercado de renta variable, labor que venía desempeñando la Bolsa de Valores de Colombia (BVC). En la sección tres se entrega una visión integral de los pagos en el mercado de bienes y servicios, es decir, de las transacciones efectuadas en el circuito de personas naturales y empresas no financieras. Durante la pandemia las transferencias electrónicas inter e intrabancarias, que en su mayoría son originadas por empresas, registraron un incremento tanto en número como en valor de operaciones frente a 2019. Por su parte, los pagos con tarjetas débito y crédito originados principalmente por personas naturales mostraron un comportamiento decreciente con respecto a 2019. Los pagos realizados con cheques siguen disminuyendo, presentando una tendencia a la baja muy pronunciada en el último año. Como complemento a la información sobre transferencias electrónicas, el reporte incluye en esta sección un sombreado sobre la caracterización de la población con cuenta de ahorro y corriente, empleando los datos de la encuesta del Banco de la República sobre percepción de uso de los instrumentos de pago en 2019. Se incluye también un recuadro sobre la evolución transaccional de una billetera móvil provista por una sociedad especializada en depósitos y pagos electrónicos (Sedpe), mostrando que desde su creación a finales del año 2017 ha incremento en el número de usuarios y el valor de las transacciones, con especial velocidad durante la pandemia. Adicionalmente, se presenta un diagnóstico sobre los efectos de la pandemia en los patrones de pago de la población, fundamentado en datos sobre el uso del efectivo en circulación, sobre los pagos con instrumentos electrónicos, y sobre el consumo y la confianza del consumidor. Se concluye que el desplome en el índice de confianza del consumidor y la caída en el consumo privado dieron lugar a cambios en los patrones de pago de las personas. Las compras con tarjetas de crédito y débito disminuyeron, mientras que los pagos por bienes y servicios mediante transferencia electrónica aumentaron. Estos resultados, junto con el considerable aumento del efectivo en circulación, podrían proveer indicios a favor de un posible atesoramiento del papel moneda con motivo precaución por parte de las personas y de un mayor uso del efectivo como instrumento de pago. Se incluye, además, un recuadro que presenta los principales cambios que se introdujeron en la regulación del sistema de pagos de bajo valor en el país mediante la expedición del Decreto 1692 de diciembre de 2020. La cuarta sección se refiere a las importantes innovaciones y cambios tecnológicos que se han observado en el sistema de pagos al por menor. Se destacan cuatro temas en esta línea. El primero se constituye en un punto clave para la construcción de la infraestructura financiera de pagos inmediatos. Consiste en el diseño e implementación de los llamados esquemas superpuestos, los cuales son un desarrollo tecnológico que permite una comunicación abierta entre los diferentes agentes de la cadena de pagos, logrando una alta interoperabilidad entre diferentes proveedores de servicios de pago. El segundo tema explora los avances en el debate internacional sobre la emisión de moneda digital por parte de los bancos centrales (CBDC por su sigla en inglés), con el fin de entender su posible impacto en el sistema de pagos de bajo valor y en el uso del efectivo. El tercer tema está relacionado con nuevas formas de iniciación de pagos, tales como los códigos QR, la biometría o la tecnología de comunicación de campos cercanos (NCF por su sigla en inglés). Estos cambios, aparentemente pequeños, pueden tener efectos importantes en la experiencia del usuario con el sistema de pagos de bajo valor. El cuarto tema, finalmente, es el crecimiento de los pagos vinculados con la telefonía móvil y el internet. El reporte finaliza en la sección cinco con una reseña de dos trabajos de investigación aplicada realizados en el Banco de la República en el año 2020. El primero analiza el nivel patrimonial de la CRCC, reconociendo el rol relevante que esta infraestructura ha adquirido en la compensación y liquidación de varios mercados financieros en el país. Se exploran los requerimientos de capital para las entidades de contrapartida central establecidos en algunas jurisdicciones, se identifican los riesgos que se busca cubrir desde la perspectiva del servicio que este tipo de entidades ofrece al mercado y aquellos asociados a su actividad corporativa. Se analizan los niveles patrimoniales de la CRCC a partir de lo observado en la regulación de la Unión Europea y se concluye que la CRCC cuenta con un esquema de anillos de seguridad muy similar al observado en la experiencia internacional y que su nivel patrimonial es superior al exigido por la regulación colombiana, siendo suficiente para cubrir otros riesgos. El segundo trabajo de investigación identifica y cuantifica las fuentes que utilizan las entidades participantes en el CUD para cumplir con sus obligaciones diarias contraídas en el mercado financiero local, y con su uso como herramienta de monitoreo de la liquidez intradía en condiciones normales.
