We first study the problem of growth non-renewable resources within a Schumpeterian endogenous growth model. We examine the optimum and equilibrium paths at the steady-state, and we also study the impact of an economic policy aimed at implementing the optimum. In particular, it turns out that a research subsidy has the same impact as a technical progress in exogenous growth models. We then analyze the impact of the pollution generated by the use of non-renewable resources on the standard results of the literature. In this context, we define a new condition depicting the extraction path, the modified Hotelling rule, and we show that an increase in the houselolds' psychological discount rate leads to a situation in which the social planner slows down the extraction. Finally, we present a simple endogenous growth model that allows us to analyse the effects of an environmental policy. In particular, we show that a decreasing tax on the resource use yields the optimum

The theory of exhaustible resources was born in the articles of L. C. Gray and H. Hotelling, in the beginning of the twentieth century. Since that trine, it has been growing sicher. But, the contributions have been ditching between the theory and the real markets. Nevertheless, the comparison of the theory and the organizing of the real markets can give lessons. The most important is that, finally, a monopoly appears to be the best in an effective management of these resources

What we mean by the joint production in opposition to the simple production is one of several goods simultaneously in a same process. In the theory of on renewable resources, the crude oil refining constitutes one of the most striking examples of the simple production. We may define the linked extracts as the resulting goods of the same method of production, indeed it is impossible to produce one without the other one; as a matter of fact they are produced in thin or variable proportions according to the quality of the extracted ore and the refining fittings. An introductory preliminary concerning the "refining stakes" is fundamental to apprehend the history and the evolution of the refining industry until the new orientation and the current integration strategy of the oil producing countries from upstream to downstream in the oil channel. The examination of a pattern dealing with the important points which influence this new orientation. The key constituents of this pattern are: - stocking processes ; - fluctuation in the demand ; - extracted ore quality. The pattern development according to the loosening of on hypothesis to another one gives substantial results together with exhaustion theory which is already known by the firm, in addition to the strict following of the hotteling rule concerning the development of the marginal profit at a race equal to the interest rates

The object of interest in this research is directed at understanding the role of the owner state in modern economies and the point of part will be the study of the emergence and evolution of state ownership (The ownership of liquid and gaseous hydrocarbons is excluded because they are governed by different and particular provisions on the subject), the conflicts which today generate its exploitation, in order to be confronted with The exercise of other rights affecting the sensitivity of communities and identify different criteria for resolution

This thesis challenges the relevance of exhaustible resource economics to understand the oil market on a theoretical and historical basis. It shows that, during the interwar, exhaustibility became a major phenomenon. Uncoincidentally, hotelling then published is seminal paper. However, exhaustibility, although being a structuring constraint, is not the main motive of choices, as shown by an accurate scrutiny of economic, technological and legal conditions of choice. To understand the behavior of the oil market, one must leave aside the idea of intertemporal allocation, and use the concept of rarefaction, taken as the dynamic resolution of contradicting choices, as the same time produced by non renewability and ignoring it

The basic hotelling's model, concerning the nonrenewable resource exploitation, implicitly supposes that: A- the set of eventuals substitute to the nenrenewable resource is both given and known. This hypothesis implies that further invention doesn't modify the optimal resource extraction policy. B- the use of the resource leads to this all destruction. Thus the set of durable nonrenewable resources are not included in hotelling's analysis. The main goal of our thesis is in fact to extend the latter by relaxing the hypothesis mentioned above

In that work, we try to reconsider the neo-hotellinian analysis through the prism of r&d and technological innovation. We want to assess how phenomenons as r&d efforts, incentives to innovate or innovation timing can improve the r-per-cent basic rule. Moreover, we research how theses elements can explain some stylized facts of observable exhaustible resource markets, specially the oil market. Methodologically, we are working into the "mining" paradigm of h. Hotelling and l. Gray, i. E. In an agents and markets neoclassical approach. This choice fits our attempt to carry on an analysis of the relations between natural resources sectors and technological innovation in a theoritical rather than a pragmatic way. Our research hinges on a cut-out based on the distinction between firm decision problems and market ones
