Oscar Wilde overshadows the German reception of Salome (1891), yet his text is a problematic one. Wilde's one-act drama is a mosaic text, influenced by the abundance of literary and artistic treatments of the Salome figure during the fin de siècle. Moreover, Wilde did not write Salome in his native tongue, but rather in French, and allowed it to be edited by a number of French poets. Furthermore, the translation of the text proved problematic, resulting in a flawed English rendering dubiously ascribed to Lord Alfred Douglas.

However, there is a German mediator whose translation of Wilde's play is less problematic than the original. Hedwig Lachmann produced a translation of Salome in 1900 that found success despite having to compete with other German translations. Lachmann's translation alters, expands, and improves on Wilde's French original. In contrast to Wilde's underlexicalised original, Lachmann's translation displays an impressive lexical diversity.

In 1903 Insel Verlag published her translation accompanied by ten illustrations by Marcus Behmer. Behmer's illustrations have been dismissed as being derivative of the works of Aubrey Beardsley, but they speak to Lachmann's version of Salome rather than to Beardsley's or Wilde's. Indeed, the illustrations create their own vision of Salome, recasting the story of a femme fatale into a redemption narrative.

In Germany the play proved quite successful, and Lachmann's translation was staged at Max Reinhardt's Kleines Theater in Berlin. It was here that Richard Strauss saw Lachmann's version of the play performed and adapted it for use as a libretto for his music drama Salome. Despite being adapted from Lachmann's translation, Strauss' music drama is often cited as being based directly on Wilde's play, without mentioning the important role of Lachmann's mediation. Moreover, the libretto is often praised as an exact replica of the play put to music. Neither of these assertions is, indeed, the case. Strauss excised forty percent of the text, altered lines, and changed the gender of one of the characters.

I employ Gérard Genette's theory of transtextuality as it is delineated in Palimpsests (1982) to discuss the interrelatedness of texts and the substantial shift that can occur from subtle changes, or transpositions, of a text. Translation, shift in media, excision, the inclusion of extra-textual features including illustrations, and regendering of characters are all means by which a text can be transformed as Lachmann, Behmer, and Strauss transform Salome. Additionally, I will be using Lorraine Janzen Kooistra's term bitextuality, as described in The Artist as Critic: Bitextuality in Fin de Siècle Illustrated Books (1995) to reinforce Genette's notion that extra-textual elements are also significant to a text as a whole. Finally, I employ Jacques Lacan's theory of gaze as outlined in "Seminar on 'The Purloined Letter'" (1956) and "The Mirror Stage as Formative of the I Function as Revealed in Psychoanalytic Experience" (1949) to discuss the function of gaze within the three texts.

In this thesis, I will be addressing these three German intermedial re-envisionings of Salome and arguing for their uniqueness as three distinct representations of Salome. In this thesis, I will argue that Wilde's text is a problematic precursor and that Hedwig Lachmann's text not only alters, but also improves on the original. Additionally, I will argue that Marcus Behmer's images, while influenced by Beardsley, focus more closely on the text they are illustrating and thus provide a less problematic visual rendering of the play. Finally, I will argue that Strauss' libretto for Salome is mediated through Lachmann's translation and that it is further substantially altered.

In order to show the ways in which the texts differ from one another, I have chosen to focus predominantly on the motifs of the moon and gaze. By analysing the way in which each text represents these motifs it is possible to track changes in characterisation, motivation, and various other salient features of the text.

Étant un personnage secondaire issu de l’épisode évangélique qui raconte le martyre de Jean-Baptiste, Salomé est devenue un des thèmes préférés dans la littérature et les arts de la seconde moitié du XIXe siècle. En faisant partie des « femmes fatales », elle correspond bien aux interprétations fin-de-siècle : la faiblesse de l’homme, le pouvoir de la femme, l’esthétique raffinée mais morbide, la décadence nonchalante mêlée à un effroi irrémédiable. Le célèbre drame d’Oscar Wilde fait d’elle le sujet d’une réflexion philosophique du désir et de la mort. La fin du XIXe siècle ne signifie pas la fin de l’évolution de la figure de Salomé. Au contraire, elle constitue un nouveau point de départ. Au XXe siècle son histoire a connu non seulement un enrichissement au niveau structurel, mais aussi une diversification formelle. Aujourd’hui, les textes qui abordent Salomé forment un système. La formation et la transformation de ce système demande une observation qui porte une attention particulière à la continuité et à la rupture, à l’héritage et au renversement. Lorsque la danseuse est mise à côté du martyr, l’histoire doit faire face au déchirement : l’homme et la femme, le vocable et le visuel, l’ascétisme et le désir…d’où l’incertitude et la diversité de l’interprétation qui permettent à l’histoire de Salomé de résister à l’écoulement du temps. L’existence d’une multitude de textes sur le même mythe crée un espace où l’étude intertextuelle est rendue possible
As a secondary character from the Gospel story that recounts the martyrdom of John the Baptist, Salome became one of the favorite themes in art and literature of the second half of the nineteenth century. As one of the “ femmes fatales ”, this figure corresponds to the Fin de Siècle imagination : the man’s weakness , the women’s power, the refined aesthetic but morbid, the decadence mixed with an irremediable terror. The famous play of Oscar Wilde made her the subject of a philosophical reflection of the desire and the death. The end of the nineteenth century doesn’t mean the end of the evolution of this mythic figure. On the contrary, it becomes a new starting point. In the twentieth century, Salome’s story has been enriched not only at the structural level, but also by a formal diversification. Today, the writings about Salome form a system. The formation and transformation of this system requires an observation that pays particular attention to the continuity and rupture, to the inheritance and reversal. When the dancer is compared to the martyr, the Salome’s story has to face a series of contrast : man and woman, word and vision, asceticism and desire ... The uncertainty and the diversity of interpretation allow the story of Salome to resist the passage of time. A multitude of texts on the same myth creates a space where the intertextual study is possible

Salome is the myth of the Oriental princess who dances for her stepfather, Herod the tetrark at his banquet. He becomes so enchanted by Salome's dance that he allows her to wish for what she wants. On the advice of Queen Herodias, Salome's mother, she asks the head of prophet John on a platter. Herod is horrified, but grants Salome's desire. This is the first in a series of Salome petitions as Mark and Matthew in the New Testament. Salome has since then never ceased to fascinate artists and writers through the ages. From the medieval petitions with the focus on Salome's dance of the Renaissance with the shift from dance to John the Baptist's head on a plate, the romanticism of Heine and the amazing climax in the late 1800s feverish petitions, symbolism, decadence and modernism's painterly hallucinations of Salome as the castrating woman par excellence, of Salome as the terrifying Femme Fatale and "La belle dame sans merci". Ann Jäderlund's Salome is the latest of Salome petitions of all time. An unbroken tradition of  a blood-red thread spinning throughout history, from Biblical days until our days, and postmodernism. Jäderlund's Salome is a fascinating creation, just as exciting and alarming as the  Salome character herself. The sliding movement between irony and sentimentality in the narration of the text is a complication, and one senses that the author's intentions are far more complex than what the current research today suggests. How can we understand the incomprehensible, the recurrent male-killing in the play? Literally and realistic in feminist psychoanalytic tradition, or figuratively and symbolically, in accordance with the mature and masculine tradition? Should we focus on the content of the text as the gender-oriented studies sought to assert, or should we instead focus attention on the text and dramaform as such? What happens if you problematised Jäderlund's drama based on Peter Szondi's and Mats Ödeen's genre determinations, is it possible at all to identify Salome as a modern drama then, or are moving in a new land, in such a postmodernist? And what characterizes in this case this as compared to the prior art tradition? These questions may form the basis for my thesis after prolonged inability to find a theoretical input to a text reminding much about the author's other works, a lyrical souterraine to get lost in, to immerse and musical dream of, and be attracted to as be attracted to a dark star or the surrealist black sun. The black sun of the soul with its dazzling, and at once obscure perversion.

This thesis proposes that the illustrations produced by Aubrey Beardsley for the first English edition of Oscar Wilde's play Salome are primarily motivated by a strong satirical agenda. Whilst it has usually been acknowledged that this group of illustrations harbours some satirical elements, these have never before been regarded as anything other than isolated occurrences. The iconography of Beardsley's Salome illustrations has rarely been subjected to close visual analysis or lengthy explication. All early studies of Beardsley's work and the pioneering and monumental cataloguing work carried out in the 1960s inevitably contain a number of misconstructions and lacunae. Recent critical accounts of the Salomi illustrations, mostly theory-led and written from outside the discipline of art history, have on the one hand relied upon these interpretations, yet have on the other hand espoused various degrees of epistemological scepticism and historical relativism not calculated to provide new interpretations of these images in the light of their historical contexts. Countering this tendency, this thesis sets out to establish these contexts and to identify and explain the jokes which run throughout this sequence of illustrations. As a preliminary step to this analysis, my first chapter narrates a production history of the illustrations, and unravels the complex sequence of events relating to the commission. A second chapter surveys late nineteenth-century conventions of satire and literary and visual caricatures of Beardsley's principal target, Wilde. Following this, the body of the thesis is devoted to a detailed account of each image. These accounts explore the range of meanings at work within a broad context of contemporary visual culture, and offer a radical reinterpretation of the Salome illustrations.

A presente investigação tem por objetivo analisar a pedagogia do livro da Bíblia Hebraica conhecido por Provérbios de Salomão, que em hebraico é chamado de Mischlei. A investigação procura compreender o fenômeno da mediação educacional presente na obra valendo-se diversos autores e especialistas em literatura sapiencial bíblica, bem como de leituras diretas do texto hebraico. Para este fim, procurou-se analisar etimológica e semanticamente os termos sapienciais, bem como compreender a linguagem da sabedoria e o vocabulário utilizado pelos autores da obra. Houve uma preocupação em localizar Mischlei dentro da literatura sapiencial do Oriente Próximo e dentro da própria Bíblia Hebraica. Esta análise educacional foi feita a partir de uma reconstituição filosófica e teológica da visão de mundo de Mischlei que abrange: a dimensão religiosa, a cosmologia, a visão de ser humano, a ética e a epistemologia. Com as informações obtidas nesta reconstituição, foi possível levantar as características pedagógicas da obra como: aspectos que caracterizam sua pedagogia, sua intencionalidade formativa, objetivos educacionais e sua didática. E finalmente, foi considerada sua relevância educacional, seguida pelas considerações finais.
This investigation has the objective to analyze the pedagogy of the Hebrew Bible book called Proverbs of Salomon, whose name in Hebrew is Mischlei. The research seeks to understand the educational mediation phenomenon present in the work, drawing several authors and experts in Biblical Wisdom Literature, as direct readings of the original Hebrew text. To achieve this goal, seeks to analyze wisdom terms etymologically and semantically, as well, how to comprehend the wise language and vocabulary used by the authors of the book. There was a concern to locate Mischlei within the wisdom literature of the Near East and within the Hebrew Bible. This educational analysis was made from a reconstruction of the Mischlei philosophical and theological worldview covering: the religious dimension, the cosmology, the human being view, ethic and the epistemology. With the information obtained from this reconstruction, it was possible to raise the pedagogical features of the work as pedagogy, their formative intentionality, educational goals and its teaching art. And finally, it was considered their educational relevance, followed by concluding remarks.

Cette thèse est basée sur des travaux ethnographiques sur le terrrain, pendant quatre mois, dans la capitale des Îles Salomon, Honiara, et pendant huit mois, dans la lagune Lau rural (province de Malaita). Elle examine comment l'Etat des Îles Salomon, marqué par une histoire récente de conflits civils et par une intervention militaire étrangère, devient visible dans la vie quotidienne des non-élites rurales et, à un moindre degré, urbaines. En outre, elle analyse de quelle manière cette visibilité influence les non-élites dans leur perception de l'Etat en tant qu'institution gouvernementale légitime et dominante. Pour comprendre comment et dansquelle mesure l'Etat des Îles Salomon est intégré dans des routines quotidiennes, il me paraît nécessaire de focaliser l'attention sur des contacts courants avec l'Etat, ses infrastructures, ses représentants ainsi que les alternatives possibles et de donner aussi la priorité à la perspe"ctive des non-élites plutôt qu'à la perspective de l'Etatdisciplinaire et des membres urbaines de la société civile orientés vers l'Etat. Mes conclusions soulignent que l'Etat des Îles Salomon est visible comme force pertubatrice. Les non-élites continuent à s'opposer à l'unification centrée sur l'Etat et cherchent à garder une autonomie relative par rapport à l'Etat en accentuant la domination et la légitimité d'une gouvernance centrée sur le village. Cependant, cette quête d'autonomie est de plus en plus entravée par le dépendance des aliments et des produits étrangers, donc par la dépendance de l'Etat en tant que médiateur principal de relations économiques reconnu au niveau global
This thesis is based on ethnographic fieldwork in Solomon Islands capital, Honiara (four months), and in the rural Lau Lagoon, Malaita Province (eight months). It examines how the Solomon Islands state, marked by a recent history of civil conflict and foreign military intervention, becomes visible in the everyday lives of rural and, to a lesser degree, urban non-elites; and how this visibility affects non-elite perceptions of the state as legitimate, dominant governing system. I propose that to understand to what extent and how the Solomon Islands state is integrated into everyday routines it is necessary to focus on mundane encounters with the state, its infrastructures and representatives as well as available alternatives; and to do so by prioritizing the perspective of the non-elites rather than the perspective of the disciplining state and state-focused members of (an urban) civil society. My findings highlight that the Solomon Islands state is visible as a disruptive force. As a result non-elites continue to defy state-based unification and instead seek relative autonomy from the state by emphasizing the dominance and legitimacy of village-centric governance. This quest for autonomy is, however, increasingly curtailed by dependency on foreign foods and goods, and therein by a dependency on the state as primary globally-recognized legitimate mediator of economic relations

El presente estudio será de utilidad tanto para el área clínica como educativa, ya que en ambas se debe trabajar en conjunto para ayudar al niño y contribuir a su mejora. A partir de las evidencias encontradas, se podrá brindar las herramientas necesarias para favorecer una adecuada integración en su medio. Ya que en ocasiones este tipo de casos necesitan de mayor flexibilidad y una estructura clara para desarrollar su potencial.

The Babatha and Salome Komaise archives contain the legal documents of two Jewish women and their families, dating mostly from c. 94 C.E. to 132 C.E. The community that they attest lived in a small village which was first part of the Nabataean Kingdom but was later incorporated into the province of Roman Arabia in 106 C.E. The documents consequently provide invaluable information about a community’s experience before and after the creation of the province. The laws and traditions in evidence in the two archives are remarkable for their diversity, exhibiting elements of Jewish, Nabataean, Roman and Hellenistic law. This thesis examines this complex legal situation and considers the ways in which people coped with the array of legal options available to them. A ‘ground-up’ approach is adopted, focusing on the people involved in the documents’ creation and use in order to detail how different parties affected the working of law in the area. An overview of the individual documents is provided in The Survey of the Documents. The rest of the thesis is then structured according to the various groups that influenced their formulation and use: The Scribes, Legal Advisors, The Parties, The Alternatives to the Assizes and The Roman Officials. These various contributions are then brought together in the Conclusion to model how law operated in this particular community. The primary contributions of this study are therefore to Roman provincial and legal history, as well as the history of the Jewish people in the inter-revolt period.

Partindo do pressuposto de que os anos sessenta coincidiram com a emergência da condição histórica pós-moderna, propusemos estudar a obra de Waly Dias Salomão, sob a ótica barroca/neobarroca a partir das teorias de Severo Sarduy e Omar Calabrese além de outros estudiosos como Cláudio Daniel e Afonso Ávila. Nossa intenção foi de oportunizar uma releitura dos debates sobre as Vanguardas poéticas contemporâneas que introduziram a pós-modernidade considerando-as como programas estéticos cujo foco era atenuar os limites entre as diversas formas de arte. Iniciamos por abordar os procedimentos e métodos utilizados pelo escritor e poeta aglutinador de muitos caminhos, cujos mecanismos próprios nos permitiram identificar em sua produção poética sugestivas ressonâncias de um barroco reciclado. Elementos como labirinto, ironia e paradoxo, procedimentos barroco por excelência, foram apontados nesta tese como sendo vetores da poesia walyana. De fato, ao estabelecer um diálogo constante de suas obras com a tradição literária e com a contemporaneidade Waly cria uma hibridização cuja afinidade com a poesia (neo) barroca é evidente

Resumo: Considerando que a arte e a literatura produziram várias formas de conceber a imagem do feminino, vamos acompanhar como Gilka Machado apresenta a sua versão. Era comum, nesse fim de século XIX e primeiras décadas do século XX, que predominasse a visão masculina ditando especialmente um ideário delineador de uma beleza extraordinária na pele de suas perigosas heroínas. Assim, pode-se dizer que a personagem se fazia sobretudo no olho do homem que comandava a pena. Com Gilka, temos a atuação de uma autoria feminina dando seu toque pessoal à composição. Escolhemos acompanhar os desdobramentos do mito literário de Salomé, eleita como musa da poesia do amor, acreditando que as intervenções da autora correspondem ao propósito de assumir a busca pela construção de uma identidade sensual num momento em que não era dado à mulher tratar desses assuntos. Dotada de sensualidade, Salomé desata seus véus para revelar ou sugerir os mistérios da sexualidade feminina, de tal modo que pode ser tomada como uma personagem-chave para o desenvolvimento da poética do erotismo. Identificando-se com ela, a poeta não vai reproduzir os costumeiros opróbrios que os temerosos apaixonados lançaram sobre a bailarina, mesmo porque, parece pouco conveniente reforçar a execração, quando se espera tornar aceitável o comportamento mais liberal da mulher. Como ameniza o satanismo da musa, Gilka opera mudanças nos arquétipos literários fixados pelo decadentismo, de modo que sua poesia entra em conflito com as convenções literárias perfazendo um movimento de alianças e embates com a tradição. Levando em conta essas questões fundamentais, apresentamos uma leitura da poesia erótica de Gilka Machado em que se procura sentir os efeitos de uma especial sensibilidade feminina
Abstract: Taking into consideration that Art and Literature produced various ways of conceiving the image of the feminility, we will present how Gilka Machado develops her version. At the end of the nineteenth century and in the first decades of the twentieth century, the predominance of a masculine point of view was very common, ruling a limiting ideology of extraordinary beauty of dangerous heroines. So, we can say that the character was created with the view of the man who commanded the penci!. In Gilka, we have a feminine influence, which gives the text a personal touch. We will follow the development of the literary myth in Salomé, a muse of the poetry of love; believing that the author's interventions correspond to the purpose for the searching of a sensual identity, in a moment when women were not given the right to deal with such subjects. FuIl of sensuality, Salomé unveils herself to reveal or suggest the mystery of the feminine sexuality, in a way in which she becomes the key character for the development of the poetry of eroticism. Identifying herself with the character, Gilka would not reproduce the conventional idea of a dangerous seducer that dreadfullovers make of her, even because it seems rather convenient to strengthen the outrage, when it is expected that a more liberal behavior of the women would be well accepted. By smoothing over the satanism of the muse, Gilka makes changes in the literary archetypes established by the decadenceness, in a way that her poetry creates an antagonism with the literary conventions concluding to a movement of alliances and conflicts with the traditional modes. By considering these fundamental topics, we will present a reading of the erotic poetry in Gilka Machado, in a moment in which the effects of a special feminine sensibility come out

Atteindre les différents Objectifs du Millénaire pour le Développement que sont la réduction de la pauvreté, la se��curité alimentaire, et la conservation de la biodiversité, constitue un défi pour les îles coralliennes. Dans cette perspective, les petites pêcheries côtières jouent un rôle crucial et plus particulièrement dans la région subtropicale du Pacifique Sud-Ouest. Cette thèse, par la prise en compte de déterminants économiques et écologiques a pour objectif d’identifier des stratégies de gestion permettant d’assurer à la fois la viabilité et la résilience des pêcheries ainsi que de la biodiversité marine dont elle dépend. Elle s’appuie sur le cas d’étude des Iles Salomon. Pour ce faire, plusieurs modèles bio-économiques dynamiques sont développés en intégrant l'aspect multi-flottilles de la petite pêche côtière ainsi que la mutitude d'espèces pêchées; les poissons coralliens, les holothuries et la bonite, une ressource pélagique plus facilement capturée près des côtes en utilisant des « Fishing Aggregative Devices » (FADs). Les paramètres des modèles sont calibrés en utilisant à la fois des données locales propres aux Iles Salomon, et des données issue de la littérature sur les écosystèmes coralliens. Le choix de l’effort de pêche comme variable de contrôle du système nous permet de prendre en compte la flexibilité des systèmes traditionnels locaux de gestion des pêches, fréquemment rencontrés dans la région Pacifique. Les scénarios et les projections dérivés du modèle sont comparés en utilisant des critères de viabilité. La co-viabilité du système est atteinte en équilibrant les contraintes écologiques et économiques, définies à partir des besoins de conservation de la biodiversité, de sécurité alimentaire et de niveaux monétaires minimaux. Nous proposons en outre de mesurer la résilience du système en mobilisant le concept de temps de crise. Cette recherche présente une série de résultats importants : en premier lieu, l’analyse des scénarios met en évidence la nécessité d’ajuster l’effort de pêche en direction de la ressource en bonite, pour pouvoir assurer la co-viabilité du système à l’horizon 2050. En deuxième lieu, l’utilisation des simulations basées sur la théorie des jeux montre que la coopération entre pêcheurs pour la redistribution des captures de pêche peut favoriser la viabilité et la résilience de tout le système. En dernier lieu, en tenant compte des incertitudes écologiques et économiques dans les dynamiques du modèle, celui-ci montre que les FADs peuvent jouer un rôle majeur dans la viabilité et la résilience des petites pêcheries côtières. D’une manière générale ces différents résultats mettent en évidence l’importance de l'approche écosystémique pour la gestion, et la nécessité de planifier judicieusement le développement de la petite pêche côtière de la bonite
The achievement of the Millennium Development Goals including poverty alleviation, food security together with biodiversity conservation is seriously challenged in coral reef regions. In this context, the role played by small-scale fisheries is critical, especially in the sub-tropical South West Pacific region. Using the Solomon Islands as a case-study, the present thesis aims to identify management strategies that ensure the sustainability and resilience of both fisheries and the underlying marine biodiversity, accounting for macro and micro-level ecological and economic drivers. To do so, we develop several bio-economic dynamic models that account for multi-fleets and multiple coral reef species, holothurians as well as skipjack tuna, a pelagic resource that can be caught inshore using Fishing Aggregative Devices (FADs). Parameters of the models are calibrated using both local data from the Solomon Islands and relevant literature on reef ecosystems. The choice of the fishing effort as control variable in the system allows us to account for the flexibility of the local customary marine tenure systems frequently found in the Pacific. Scenarios and projections derived from the model are compared using viability criteria. The co-viability of the system is satisfied by balancing ecological and economic constraints that are defined by biodiversity conservation, food security and minimum cash requirements. In addition we propose to measure the resilience of the system through the concept of time-of-crisis. The research points out to a series of important results: first, scenarios analysis highlights the need to adjust fishing effort in favour of the tuna resource in order to secure co-viability at the 2050 horizon. Second, simulations and game theory are used to show how cooperation amongst fishers with a particular fish catch allocation can foster the viability and resilience of the whole system. Third, while accounting for ecological and economic uncertainties in the dynamics and state of the model, the model shows on how FADs can play a major role for the viability and resilience of the small-scale fishery. Overall these different results emphasize the importance of ecosystem-based management approach, and the need for the carefully planned development of small-scale tuna fisheries

L’histoire biblique de Salomé est un vaste sujet qui passionne artistes et écrivains depuis longtemps. En musique, il semble toutefois plus présent au début du XXe siècle. L’œuvre testamentaire sur le sujet demeure encore aujourd’hui l’opéra de Richard Strauss, créé à Dresde en 1905. Pourtant, maints compositeurs vont également traiter la légende qui met en cause Salomé à la même époque, dont notamment Florent Schmitt, avec son ballet La Tragédie de Salomé et Antoine Mariotte qui s’inspirera, tout comme Strauss, de la pièce théâtrale éponyme d’Oscar Wilde pour écrire son opéra.Considérant la date de création de l’œuvre de Mariotte (1908) et l’existence du ballet de Schmitt composé en 1907, notre objectif est de comprendre pourquoi ces deux compositeurs se sont intéressés quasi simultanément en France à ce même sujet. Pour cela, nous nous concentrerons sur les rapports d’ordres historique, social, esthétique et musical qui uniront Salomé au symbolisme, avant d’orienter notre travail vers d’autres tendances de cette époque, comme l’orientalisme voire l’aspect psychanalytique du sujet, ainsi que vers l’étude des créations et des grandes représentations de l’œuvre.À travers cette approche comparative de La Tragédie de Salomé de Florent Schmitt et de la Salomé d’Antoine Mariotte, suivant leur conception, leur organisation et leur réception, nous pourrons conclure, outre la fascination, à la puissante représentativité de ce sujet dans la France musicale du début du XXe siècle
The biblical story of Salome is a vast subject that has inspired artists and writers alike for years. In music however, the story was evoked the most at the beginning of the twentieth century. To this day, the work of reference on the subject remains Richard Strauss’s opera composed in Dresden in 1905. And yet, numerous composers of the same era were to use the legend of Salome, namely Florent Schmitt with his ballet ‘The Tragedy of Salome’ and Antoine Mariotte. The latter, like Richard Strauss, sought inspiration for his opera from the play of the same name by Oscar Wilde.Bearing in mind the date of conception of Mariotte’s work (1908) and the existence of Schmitt’s ballet composed in 1907, our aim is to understand why these two composers, both in France, became interested in the same subject at practically the same time. To this end, we will concentrate on historical, social, artistic and musical accounts that link Salome to symbolism. Our work will then explore other trends of the time, such as orientalism and even the psychoanalytical nature of the subject. The final part of our study will deal with the premières and major performances of the work. Through this comparative study of the conception, organisation and reception of ‘The Tragedy of Salome’ by Florent Schmitt and of ‘Salome’ by Antoine Mariotte, we can not only conclude that the subject was a source of great fascination, but also that it had a strong influence on music in France at the beginning of the twentieth century

Ce mémoire porte sur les sculptures et les sculpteurs contemporains de l'îlot de Aorigi (Santa Catalina),à l'est des îles Salomon. Fondé sur 16 mois de terrain, il s'attache à décrire la production matérielle des objets, à replacer ceux-ci dans les divers contextes de leurs utilisations (rituels anciens et contemporains, marché), à rendre compte du statut changeant des sculpteurs et à décrire et expliquer le système symbolique qui sous-tend les cérémonies en vue desquelles une partie des objets étaient et sont encore fabriqués. Cette approche monographique est complétée par une analyse de l'histoire orale et des archives coloniales qui reprend les mêmes thèmes en les ancrant dans le passé: formes anciennes du commerce inter-îles; évolution des rôles politiques et religieux liés à la sculpture; redéfinition des objets et des qualités esthétiques qui leur sont reconnues localement, à la suite de l'exportation de certains d'entre eux vers l'Europe et de l'usage d'outils d'acier.

The usage of welding in the process of manufacturing has become very widespread, mainly due to its low cost, versatility and the possibility of its automation. With its expansion comes higher demand for the possibilities of weld evaluation during the phase of design. Nowadays its possible to use tools based on finite element method for such evaluation. But the most commonly used tools are often very expensive. Therefore, the possibility of using Open-Source tool such as Salome-Meca to simulate the welding process as an alternative to commercial software was investigated. The first part of the work deals with the welding process and a description of the formation of residual stresses and deformations. It also deals with the description of the Salome-Meca software environment and the Code-Aster solver. In the next part the capabilities of the software in relation to problem of welding simulation are discussed. Furthermore, the goemetry of solved weldment, welding conditions, material properties and boundary conditions of the calculation are described. And finally, the individual solutions, their results and disadvantages of used approaches.

La presente propuesta plantea la incorporación de un nuevo canal de ventas para la marca de productos dermocosméticos de L’Oréal Perú, La Roche-Posay, en un contexto actual en donde la penetración de la categoría es aún muy baja, 15% en el segmento A, y la participación de mercado de esta marca es de 17%, constituyéndose, así como el segundo jugador del mercado detrás del líder Eucerin. Además, la situación actual de la marca arroja resultados de rentabilidad negativa dada la alta inversión y dependencia del canal de cadenas de farmacias, del cual depende el 80% de su venta. El objetivo principal del presente trabajo de investigación es validar la viabilidad de un modelo de negocio adicional para la marca La Roche-Posay en el Perú, a través de su comercialización en el canal de salones de belleza.
