Abstract In many industries of the national economy, the problem of material optimization layout will be encountered. In this paper, the layout problem of two-dimensional guillotine-cutting stock is studied, and the related concepts of the same-shape block and the same-shape section are proposed. To improve the efficiency of layout, the standard dimension of same-shape block and the standard dimension of same-shape section are proposed. By applying the standard dimension, the calculation speed and the efficiency of the algorithm will be improved effectively.

An analytical method for studying flow in wavy channels is presented. The flow is considered laminar and steady, and the fluid viscoelastic. A shape factor is inserted in expressions for the stream function, thus allowing to model many different cross-section shapes that are the outcome of the chosen shape factor. This work aims at investigating kinematic aspects of the flow that may enhance heat transfer between the channel walls and the fluid.
