Daun keji beling (Strobilanthes crispus) merupakan salah satu jenis tanaman yang secara empiris banyak digunakan oleh masyarakat sebagai pengobatan. Beberapa literatur menyebutkan nama latin daun keji beling sebagai Sericocalyx crispus L. Laporan hasil Riset Kesehatan Dasar (Riskesdas) 2013, menunjukkan bahwa rata – rata prevalensi Diabetes Mellitus di masing – masing provinsi di Indonesia berdasarkan diagnosis dokter dari penduduk umur lebih dari 15 tahun pada tahun 2013 mencapai 1,5%, dan meningkat pada tahun 2018 mencapai 2%.
