The aim of this study is to assess whether operculectomy in patients with retained second molars eases spontaneous tooth eruption in respect to untreated controls. Two hundred and twenty-two patients with delayed eruption of at least one second molar were selected from the archives of the Department of Orthodontics, Milan, Italy. Eighty-eight patients, 40 males and 48 females (mean age 14.8 ± 1.3 years), met the inclusion criteria. Records were then divided into case and control groups. Treatment of odontogenic cyst in pediatric patients should be considered to preserve adjacent anatomical structures, especially developing permanent teeth. Decompression can prevent damage to surrounding permanent teeth and induce spontaneous eruption of permanent teeth. Removable space maintainer with rubber tube for decompression is used to maintain the patency of the cyst and space for the eruption. These are four case reports of odontogenic cyst involving maxillary canine and mandibular premolars. Due to preserving permanent teeth, all cases were treated with decompression. This case report

Radicular cysts are one of the most common cysts of inflammatory origin involving the maxillofacial region that arise from the remnants of Herwig’s epithelial root sheath. These are often diagnosed as incidental findings on radiographs, which are seldom symptomatic and are slowly progressive. Decompression could be used as a conservative treatment approach for the management of large radicular cysts in children to have satisfactory healing and minimum damage to adjacent vital structures, simultaneously allowing the eruption of succedaneous tooth. ABSTRACT Aim This paper describes a case of an eruption hematoma in a 20-month-old boy and the impact of this hematoma on the quality of life (QoL) related to oral health of this infant and his family. Background Eruption hematoma is a soft benign cyst that contains blood and overlie a tooth that are about to erupt. Oral health conditions can affect the QoL and bring psychological impacts. Case report The proposed treatment was based on oral hygiene instruction, normal diet and massage on the lesion area. A weekly follow-up visits up to the spontaneous regression at the 6 weeks of the lesion w

Background: Acute generalized exanthematous pustulosis (AGEP) is a rare drug eruption presenting with an acute, extensive formation of nonfollicular sterile pustules on an erythematous and edematous base. Typically, the rash is accompanied by fever and leukocytosis, with spontaneous resolution in < 15 days. The incidence of AGEP is estimated at one to five cases per million people per year. Only 18% of these are from nonantibiotics. Hydroxychloroquine (HCQ) is an antimalarial agent that is also used to treat various dermatologic and rheumatologic conditions. Supernumerary teeth may also disturb the teeth eruption and cause several complications, such as ectopic eruption and midline diastema. A 13 year-old girl (VA), with mesiodens in the upper jaw was presented in this article. She has esthetics, diastema mediana and ectopic position of the left central incisor was present. Since 1977 cleft lip and palate (CLP) patients with maxillary deficiency have received an interceptive orthopedic treatment consisting of (a) transverse expansion, (b) protraction, and (c) fixed retention. Ideally the treatment should be completed early enough to permit spontaneous eruption of the maxillary permanent incisors into normal occlusion without orthodontic intervention. The early transverse expansion considerably increases space so that unerupted malpositioned incisors spread out spontaneously, creating optimal conditions for eruption and root formation. While arteriovenous malformations (AVMs) are a common congenital or post-traumatic abnormality, male genital AVMs are rare and have been described in the scrotum or penis in pediatric patients. We describe a 34-year-old male presenting with recurrent spontaneous penile urethral bleeding found to have an AVM of the penile urethra. While angiography has traditionally been helpful, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) can aid in the diagnosis and characterization of these lesions. A non-common case of unilateral fusion between the left upper central tooth and the supernumerary deciduous tooth, which also has an extra maxillary impacted tooth, was reported in the present study. The patient was a 9-year-old Iranian boy. The left lateral maxillary tooth was found during the oral examination. In the radiographic presentations, the fused teeth showed separate roots, pulpal chambers, and separate root canals. Delayed eruption of the first and second maxillary permanent incisors was experienced due to the presence of an extra impacted tooth. In the management of this condition

We present a performance in festival laughter that unfolds in three movements. Movement I traces the emergence and proliferation of Renaissance “faires” in America as spectacle, a Rabelaisian landscape of pleasure and excess that speaks to nostalgia and escape as cultural elixirs. In Movement II, we sketch the history of festival and wink to Ren Fest as contemporary expression of the carnivalesque, sanitized remnants of transgression and subversion that marked premodern carnivals and festivals. This catapults us to the third, and culminating, movement—an eruption in festival laughter that reve
