AbstractThere are many therapeutic options for keloids and hypertrophic scars, including surgery, radiation, corticosteroids, 5-fluorouracil, cryotherapy, laser therapy, anti-allergy agents, anti-inflammatory agents, bleaching creams, and make-up therapies. In terms of laser therapy, we have used long-pulsed 1064 nm Nd:YAG laser to treat keloids and hypertrophic scars. This laser was developed for the treatment of vascular diseases, including inflammatory scars that exhibit neovascularization. The depth that is reached is determined by the spot size, the laser power, and the fluence: the larger the spot size, power, or fluence, the deeper the laser beam penetrates. The laser should generally be applied to the skin surface with the following standard treatment settings: a spot diameter of 5 mm, an energy density of 75 J/cm2, an exposure time per pulse of 25 ms, and a repetition rate of 2 Hz.

AbstractThe results of multi-interferometric processing applied to radar images acquired by the European Space Agency (ESA) Sentinel-1 constellation, obtained in the framework of the IPL (International Programme on Landslides) project n.221, are presented in this manuscript. The target area is the Hunza-Nagar River valley, a remote area in northern Pakistan. The Humarri slide, a massive landslide located along the left side of the valley, is the most active phenomenon in the area, and poses a very high risk to the Humarri village built in the lowest part of the landslide, and a threat of damming the Hispar River. The highest deformation rates (with peaks higher than 300 mm/yr) were recorded in the middle and low part of the landslide. Where the Humarri village is located, the velocity values are lower and range between −30 and −80 mm/yr. The analysis of displacement time series, spanning from February 2017 to January 2020, reveal different deformation behaviors and different onset of accelerating behaviors within the landslide body. The global coverage, the wide-area mapping capabilities, and the regular acquisitions planning ensured by the Sentinel-1 constellation, coupled with InSAR ability to deliver very precise and spatially dense information, make it possible to scan wide areas and spot unstable zones, especially where remoteness, vast areal extension, and climatic conditions make it difficult to undertake field activities.

AbstractA major cost driver in the production of carbon composite parts is the quality inspection, which to this day relies on manual investigation by a trained worker. Gaps and overlaps in the layups are to be detected because they are proven to be detrimental towards the mechanical properties of the final part. In recent works, laser line triangulation sensors have been applied to inspect layups of prepreg tapes and non-crimp fabric material. These sensors create a 3D point cloud of the specimens surface. This is then evaluated by conversion into a grey-scale image and a subsequent image processing algorithm. However, the most commonly used algorithms fail to differentiate between defects and small, acceptable irregularities, such as welding spots, slits and single fibres which stick out.The aim of this research is to develop a reliable evaluation method for scans of dry fibre tape layups. An overview over the different groups of algorithms is provided, image projection is selected and compared to algorithms which have been proven to work best on pre-pregs. While the common algorithms fail to classify a test set of dry fibre specimen, image projection can reach a true positive rate of 100% and a false positive rate of 19%. The proposed setup can be a centrepiece of a future in-line quality inspection system for dry fibre layups which has potential for a significant decrease of the manufacturing costs.

Significant challenges in the areas of energy and security persist for wireless sensor networks (WSNs). Avoiding denial-of-service assaults is a priority for safeguarding WSN networks. As open field encryption becomes the norm, conventional packet deep scan systems can no longer use open field review in layer security packets. To the existing literature evaluating the effect of deep learning algorithms on WSN lifespan, this study contributes the auto-encoder (AE) and then the bidirectional gated recurrent unit (BGRU). The learning rate of the BGRU is also chosen using the moth flame optimization technique. Learning is just one of the approaches that have emerged in response to the pressing need to distinguish between legitimate and criminal users. This chapter also demonstrated that for numerical statistical data, the sweet spot is reached when the number of records in the dataset is between three thousand and six thousand and when the percentage of overlap across categories is not less than fifty percent.

In this study, we present a new optical non-contact measurement method, which is based on general characteristics of a flying-spot scanner. The focus is on the mapping of lipid-based substances, especially the scanning of fingerprints. The assessing of human fingerprints is conducted by using two lasers emitting in different selected wavelengths. Images generated by using these wavelengths comprise absorption information of the examined sample. By using image-processing and conversion algorithms, the lipid-based substances in the detected image section could not only be captured, but also displayed three-dimensionally. The setup of the optical scanning method presented here utilizes the mid infrared region, especially the wavelength range between 3 μm up to 4 μm. It was optimized in order to scan an area up to 50 cm2, with a spatial resolution of 20 μm and a data rate of 300 kS/s. Our data shows that mapping of human fingerprints can be performed by using the described method. Furthermore, a processing of the data set results in topographical information.

Abstract If a signal on clock tree is slower than expected due to either a design error or a manufacturing defect, it may cause complicated fault behaviors during scan-based testing. It makes the diagnosis of such defect especially difficult if the defective clock signal is used for both shift and capture operations during the scan testing, because (1) the defect induces hold time faults on scan chains during shift cycles, and (2) hold-time faults may also be introduced during capture cycles in the functional logic paths. The goal of this paper is to present a correlation study between the dynamic resistance curve obtained from a Resistance Spot Welding (RSW) process versus inspections made through real-time ultrasonic measurements. In steel plate samples, with varying thickness, the ultrasonic images were collected during the welding process using a Tessonics ultrasonic system with single-element, 12 Mhz transducer in pulse-echo mode, installed inside a C-type welding gun, with cooling water as the coupling medium.
