SUMMARYHaemorrhoids have affected people since ancient time. First documented treatment for haemorrhoids reported from the Egyptian papyrus. Indeed, Ebers’ papyrus dated at 1550 BC, described the use of topical astringents to ease haemorrhoidal pain.
