The aim of this work was the melissopalynologycal analysis of the honey samples collected both during the dry and rainy seasons of the three phyto-geographical zones of Benin. The analysis was performed by conventional methods on 60 honeys samples. The total of 138 taxa have been identified at family level (31), genus level (20) and to the level species (87). The number of pollens counted varies according to the phyto-geographical zones. Thus, 17091 pollens have been counted in the samples of the Sudanian zone; 13884 in those of the Sudano-Guinean zone and 7960 pollens in those of the Guinean

Recent findings reported that introduction of legumes as an intercrop or in rotation to minimize external inputs can reverse the declining of soil fertility in upland rice agrosystem and so improve the productive capacity of farms. The objectives of the study were to assess (1) the effects of rotation of upland rice with other crops, of fertiliser application and of rice varieties on rice yield and (2) the interaction effects of rotation, fertiliser application and variety on rice production. An experiment was carried out from 2011 to 2012 in 2 zones in Benin Republic, West Africa. Three rice

One of the strategies for developing novel pharmaceutical drugs is to use natural sources such as plants for therapeutic treatment. Plant extracts are a cocktail of compounds which act synergically and can improve treatment effectiveness, reduce therapeutic duration and resistance. The ethanolic extracts of leaves and seeds of Cucurbita pepo ovifera var ovifera from Sudano-Guinean and Sudano-Sahelian zones of Cameroon were evaluated on the cattle parasite nematode Onchocerca ochengi. This study investigates the relationships between Benin's climate and maize production to develop an association rule algorithm for accurate yield prediction. The datasets utilized extend 26 years (1995 to 2020) and include climate and maize yield data from five districts with synoptic weather stations in two agroclimatic zones (Sudanian and Sudano-Guinean). Climate variables were combined with yield using "year" and "districts" to find the association rules. AbstractPterocarpus erinaceus (Poir) is currently the most exploited and threatened spontaneous tree species in the Guinean-Sudanian and Sudano-Sahelian zones in West Africa. This work analyzed the density and color parameters of P. erinaceus wood in the phytogeographic zones (Sudanian, Guinean and Sahelian) in three countries in West Africa (Togo, Burkina Faso and Niger). The results obtained by studying 451 specimens taken from 95 trees showed significant differences in basic density and color parameter values (P < 0.001) based on phytogeographic zones. In the Sudano-Guinean and Sahelian zones of Mali, the decline in soil fertility is a key challenge for a sustainable enhancement of agricultural productivity. In addition, studies on the diversity of bacteria associated with Mungbeans are rare, with very few studies conducted on their identification and molecular characterization in the soils of the major agricultural production basins in the Sudano-Guinean and Sahelian Guinean zones of Mali. This study was therefore motivated not only by these different challenges of productivity and soil fertility, but also by the numerous nutritional and ag

The fall armyworm (FAW), Spodoptera frugiperda, a major pest in maize production, was assessed for its temporal and spatial distribution in maize fields during both the dry and rainy seasons of 2021 and 2022 in two agroecological regions in Benin (zone 6 and 8). Zone 6 (AEZ 6) “called zone of terre de barre” (Southern and Central Benin) consisted of ferralitic soils, a Sudano-Guinean climate (two rainy seasons alternating with two dry seasons) with a rainfall ranging between 800 and 1400 mm of rainfall per year; while zone 8 (AEZ 8) called “fisheries region” (Southern Benin” is characterized b
