The present work analyzes the energy production of three 50kWp photovoltaic (PV) power plants which are placed in three climate zones. The Sudano-Sahelian and Sudanian climates have lower average temperatures than the Sahelian environment. The Sudanian climate, next the Sudano-Sahelian zone, and finally the Sahelian region, have the best performance for PV power plants. The performance of silicon PV cells may suffer due to temperature. The Sahelian climatic zone experiences its highest levels of PV output between April and October due to longer sunshine hours and a reduction in sand dust. In t

Background: Malaria remains a climate-driven public health issue in Burkina Faso, yet the interactions between climatic factors and malaria interventions across different zones are not well understood. This study estimates time delays in the effects of climatic factors on malaria incidence, develops forecasting models, and assesses their short-term forecasting performance across three distinct climatic zones: the Sahelian zone (hot/arid), the Sudano-Sahelian zone (moderate temperatures/rainfall); and the Sudanian zone (cooler/wet). Methods: Monthly confirmed malaria cases of children under fiv

Declining agricultural fertility represent a major challenge to food security in the Sudano-Sahelian areas. In this context, it is essential to cultivate resilient cereals, such as sorghum, whose productivity depends heavily on the physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil. This study aims to assess soil chemical fertility in order to improve soil management and optimize sorghum production. The spatial distribution of soils was determined using a Digital Elevation Model (DEM) from the ALOS PALSAR radar, with a spatial resolution of 12.5 meters. Soil data were analyzed using R s

The objective of this study is to analyze the influence of farmers' perceptions on the decision to adapt to climate change in the Sudano-Sahelian zone of Cameroon. Based on a random draw from 721 farm households. This research shows that 98.6% of respondents in the study area reported having observed significant changes in climatic conditions. In addition, 89% of farmers have adopted at least one strategy to deal with these changes. Heckman's model shows that pessimistic perception about future climate precedes farmers' decision to adapt to climate change. The results also show that gender, me

With the high rate of deforestation and overpopulation in recent times, there is the danger of losing these naturally adapted landraces of trees. In Chad, the species of Khaya senegalensis is commonly used by the local communities to treat several diseases such as malaria, fever and cough. However, the species is facing the greatest threat for the survival due to its exploitation as timber. The species is on the IUCN red list with endangered status locally. Thus, this study assessed the population structure and ecological indicators of vegetation in three climatic zones dominated by Khaya senegalensis in Chad as a basis for sustainable management and conservation strategies. In Niger, forest formations constitute a source and a potential reservoir of food products for the populations who use them especially during periods of low food availability. Very little research has been carried out on the woody food species of these formations which contribute enormously to the management of the food gap. This study aimed to fill this gap. It was carried out in two agro-ecological zones of Niger and has the overall objective of providing better knowledge on the ecology of the species as well as on the local perception of their conservation status in the southwest of Niger.
