(1) Background and Objectives: The forward head posture (FHP) is characterized by increased extensions of upper cervical vertebrae and flexion of the lower cervical vertebrae and upper thoracic regions, associated with muscle shortening. The compressive loading on the tissues in the cervical spine negatively impacts suprahyoid and infrahyoid muscles and generates increased tension of the masticatory muscles. The tongue has relations with the suprahyoid and the infrahyoid muscles. The pattern of swallowing evolves gradually from birth to the age of four. If this developmental transition does no

Dysphagia is a common complication following traumatic brain injury (TBI), and it is related to an increased risk of malnutrition, pneumonia, and poor prognosis. In this article, we present a case of TBI with persistent dysphagia treated with focal muscle vibration. A 100 Hz and 50 Hz vibratory stimuli were applied over the suprahyoid muscles and tongue (30 min twice a day; five days a week; for a total of four weeks) in addition to the conventional therapy to quickly recover swallowing and avoid the possibility of permanent deficits. ABSTRACT Imaging is an integral part of head and neck cancer staging and assessing resectability. Accurate perception of imaging information by the clinician is possible only by effective communication between radiologist and surgeon. Traditionally, the radiologist studies the head neck region with two dimensional cross-sectional imaging. The surgeon perceives the head and neck region by real-time experience at surgery as a threedimensional (3D) space. Advances in computed tomography (multidetector CT) provide multiplanar and 3D reformations as added tools to facilitate understanding the compl

The position of the tongue relative to the upper and lower jaws is regulated in part by the position of the hyoid bone, which, with the anterior and posterior suprahyoid muscles, controls the angulation and length of the floor of the mouth on which the tongue body ‘rides’. The instantaneous shape of the tongue is controlled by the ‘extrinsic muscles’ acting in concert with the ‘intrinsic’ muscles. Recent anatomical research in non-human mammals has shown that the intrinsic muscles can best be regarded as a ‘laminated segmental system’ with tightly packed layers of the ‘transverse’, ‘longitudin
