The seed of Uhiokirihio is majorly used in the preparation of ‘Banga’ (palm fruit) soup, meat pepper soup and other types of soup in the southern part of Nigeria. It is also commonly used in soups of nursing mothers to prevent post-partum contractions. The rich antioxidant activity of this spice has been reported. There is, however, a dearth of information on the effect of different cooking methods on its antioxidant activity. This study, therefore, evaluated the eff

Newcastle disease (ND) is an economically important disease of poultry. Vaccination had been the only way of prevention in Nigeria and indeed many countries of the world. Possible therapy is presently lacking. Drugs developed from medicinal chemistry, plant natural products constitute major sources of innovative therapeutic agents for various infectious diseases. Here we studied the in-vivo antiviral effect of <em>Tetrapleura tetraptera </em>(<em>Tt</em>) pods on ND virus in Birds. The aim of this study is to test the ability of this plant to prevent death in Birds. The study employed one (1)

Cultural laboratory methods was used to evaluate the mycoflora. Powdered plants extracts used were extracted by air drying and blending the leaves of the plants. The antifungal activity on the various fungal isolates was done at different concentrations (100, 50, 25, and 12.5mg/ml). For antifungal activity of C. citratus at 100, 50 and 25mg/ml revealed higher inhibition of Scopulariopsis sp compared to other isolates, al

Seizures are a hallmark of epilepsy and often lead to cognitive impairment. However, most antiepileptic medications have limited efficacy in this context and are associated with negative consequences with prolonged use.
