This paper aims to alleviate traffic congestion brought on by antiquated, ineffective traffic management systems that are based on a predefined countdown. Long red light delays are the result of these traditional systems, which have a predefined countdown regardless of the actual traffic on a given road. Our system makes sure that time set for the traffic lights reflects the traffic density in real time, which ensures efficient use of time. In order to do this, we first compute the traffic density, which is ascertained by combining image processing methods along with the use of ultrasonic sensors. The Raspberry Pi then processes this data and then manages the time set for the traffic light. Furthermore, the use of SQL Alchemy ensures that this processed information is stored to the cloud, where it may be utilized in events of sensor failure or system malfunction. Abstract This study was conducted to investigate the impacts of compacted and non-compacted soils induced by traffic of farm machines and equipment during the agricultural operations on some mechanization properties (e.g. Draught Force, Specific Resistance, Energy Use Efficiency and Soil resistance to cutting and shaping). The experiment was conducted during the spring agricultural season of 2022 in one of the farms that located about 30 km Northwest Mosul city - Nineveh Governorate - Iraq. Randomized Complete Block Design (RCBD) was used for data analyses with four replications (n=4). The experimental site was divided into two main blocks based on the investigated factors (1) two levels of rear tire pressure were tested (8 psi and 15 psi), (2) number of traffic (no traffic, one traffic, two traffics and three traffics). These variables were investigated under two different soil textures (clay soil, silty loam soil). Duncan’s multiple range test was utilized to compare between the means at a 5% probability level. The results showed that CTF system represented by non-trafficked soil has achieved the best values (P< 0.05) for all studied indicators, particularly when practiced under clay soil. Draught force was significantly better with non-trafficked soil compared to the one-traffic, two-traffics and three-traffics by approximately 30%, 33% and 40%, respectively. Energy Use Efficiency was also increased under non-trafficked soil (no-traffic) by approximately 30%, 45%, 48% compared to the one-traffic, two-traffics and three-traffics of farm machinery, respectively. The best values of the investigated indicators were reported when CTF has practiced (no-traffic) in the clay soil using 15 psi tire pressure.

Nowadays, traffic light system is very important to avoid car crashes and arrange traffic load. In the Sulaimani City / Iraq, there are many traffic problems such as traffic congestion or traffic jam and the amount of time provided manually to the traffic light system. This is the main difficulty that we try to solve. The traffic lights exist but still do not manage traffic congestion due to the fixed time provided for each lane regardless of their different load. Therefore, we are proposing to change the traditional traffic system to smart traffic system (adaptive system). This paper Focuses on the existing system (fixed system), then propose the adaptive one. The main crucial side effects of the existing system are: Emergency cases: congested traffics might block the way of emergencies for instance ambulance, which transports people to the hospital Wasting time of people generally and specially Delays, which lead people to not to be punctual, this means people arrive late to the work Wasting more fuels as staying more in the traffics, which affects the environment by increasing pollution.

In this paper, we have worked on the bursty synthetic traffic for Gaussian and Non-Gaussian traffic traces on the NoC architecture. This is the first study on the performance of Gaussian and Non-Gaussian application traffic on the multicore architectures. The real-time traffic having the marginal distribution are Non-Gaussian in nature, so any analytical studies or simulations will not be accurate, and does not capture the true characteristics of application traffic. Simulation is performed on synthetic generated traces for Gaussian and Non-Gaussian traffic for different traffic patterns. The performance of the two traffics is validated by simulating the parameters of packet loss-probability, average link-utilization & average end-to-end latency shows that the Non-Gaussian traffic captures the burstiness more effectively as compared to the Gaussian traffic for the desired application.

The method and results of transport research, carried out by field research method, on the determination of the main indicators of traffic flows with significant unevenness of the movement on the arterial street in conditions of coordinated control is reviewed in the paper. Time parameters of traffic light control for which a reduction in traffic delay is achieved in direct and opposite traffic flow by the change of permissive signal depending on traffic intensity are determined using the simulation method. Change (increase) of the duration of the permissive signal provides uninterrupted movement of vehicles` group during their passage of stop-line at traffic light objects. The proposed method can be used on sections of transport networks with coordinated control, where there is significant heterogeneity of traffic flow, and it prevents the dissipation of groups that consist of vehicles with different dynamic characteristics. Such a result is being performed in the case when in the system of automated control, which combines adjacent intersections on an arterial street, fixed-time program control of traffic light signalization is operating. In this condition, there is a possibility to adjust the duration of signals of traffic light groups by correcting the width (permissive signal duration) and angle of inclination (speed of movement) of the timeline in coordination graphs. The scientific novelty of this research is that the method of traffic delay minimization in conditions of coordinated control acquired further development. The essence of the method is in the controlled change of the range of permissive signal duration in conditions of simultaneous control of the speed of movement between adjacent intersections. Practical value is the application of different programs of traffic light control on sections of arterial streets in transport districts where a significant difference of values of traffic intensity by directions is in morning and evening peak periods.

This analysis is dedicated to find out methods for setting of route networks where new aircraft can be effectively put into service. The conception of this analysis is based on the idea of so called connectivity principle for airports connected by passenger traffic with each other. For the passenger traffic analysis the author took passenger traffic data by federal districts starting from the Far East. Then consequently the data for Siberian, Ural, Wolga, Northwestern, Central, Southern and North Caucasian federal districts were analyzed. Passenger traffic to the Crimea was treated separately. Detailed specifications of passenger traffics were provided in order to determine the connections between airports both within federal districts and beyond them and with neighboring areas in western direction. Query of routes was done based on limitations for non-stop flight range and on minimum and maximum (for significant traffics) flight frequencies. The analysis approach lets us concentrate attention on those airlines which at best fit for putting into service of chosen aircraft. Also this method permits to determine the routes with currently insufficient or low traffics but where there’s a definite growth potential. When analysis data are combined with traffic data and tariffs, then it becomes possible to determine the most profitable routes for introduction of new aircraft. Traffic volume, actual figures and forecast, consolidated characteristics of chosen airlines, list of airlines for further studies of efficiency and competitiveness of introduced aircraft are determined.

Modern cities face pressing problems with transportation systems including, but not limited to, traffic congestion, safety, health, and pollution. To tackle them, public administrations have implemented roadside infrastructures such as cameras and sensors to collect data about environmental and traffic conditions. In the case of traffic sensor data not only the real-time data are essential, but also historical values need to be preserved and published. When real-time and historical data of smart cities become available, everyone can join an evidence-based debate on the city’s future evolution. The TRAFAIR (Understanding Traffic Flows to Improve Air Quality) project seeks to understand how traffic affects urban air quality. The project develops a platform to provide real-time and predicted values on air quality in several cities in Europe, encompassing tasks such as the deployment of low-cost air quality sensors, data collection and integration, modeling and prediction, the publication of open data, and the development of applications for end-users and public administrations. This paper explicitly focuses on the modeling and semantic annotation of traffic data. We present the tools and techniques used in the project and validate our strategies for data modeling and its semantic enrichment over two cities: Modena (Italy) and Zaragoza (Spain). An experimental evaluation shows that our approach to publish Linked Data is effective.

Traffic congestion and regulating traffic in traffic signals are major issues in cities. Nowadays, in most of the cities, traffic management centers installed numerous cameras all over the roads and traffic signals. Such cameras can be effectively used for the automation of traffic signals. The objective is to develop a real time system that can automatically monitor real time traffic and make the system intelligent using artificial intelligence techniques. Specifically, Deep Convolutional Neural Networks are employed to perform the task. From statistical traffic data, it determines count, type of vehicle, average speed, distance between vehicles, etc. Based on traffic, the algorithm instructs to stop vehicle or queue or move. It can also record a wrong-way driver. Using license plate recognition, security applications such as unauthorized vehicles are identified. If there is violation of traffic rules, they are recorded with registration number. It can detect ambulances and give first preference. The proposed algorithm identifies VIP vehicles and clear traffics in automated ways. Ambulances are given priority to pass the road. The entire system have been developed using a standalone-Graphical User Interface (GUI). We have implemented successfully and the proposed framework performs satisfactorily.

Abstract Autonomous and intelligent system show a remarkable step in urban traffic management. Autonomous Intersection Management (AIM) is an outstanding example of using an autonomous vehicle and wireless communication technology. The traffic performance of a single AIM system has been proved in many works however, traffic in the network of multiple AIMs is waiting for an implementation. Coordination of traffic between intersections in the network is an important step of managing the overall networked traffic throughput. The authors modeled the traffic network with the multi-agents concept and used the discrete consensus algorithm to coordinate between autonomous agents and implemented the rerouting algorithm in order to distribute the excessive traffics to neighbored intersections with the optimal condition. Our target is to have a balance traffic in each intersection and reaches the equilibrium where the stability has been not compromised. The results show that reaching consensus condition will bring the networked traffic to an equilibrium state where a peak traffic will not be happened. In addition, this method shows that when traffic in a network reached consensus, it will also converge to the Nash equilibrium in the finite time.

Traffic congestion has become a big problem for most people because it increases noise, air pollution, and wasting time. Current normal traffic light system is not enough to manage the traffic problematic congestions because they operate on a fixed-time length plan. In recent years, internet of things led to introducing new models of intelligent traffic light systems; by utilizing different techniques such as predictive-based model, radiofrequency identification, and ultrasonic-based model. The most essential one of these techniques is depends of image processing and microcontroller communications. In this paper, we propose an intelligent, low cost, and efficient microcontroller circuit-based system for controlling cars in traffic light. This system can manage car traffics smarter than traditional approaches, it is capable to dynamically adjust timings of traffic signal. It can rapidly respond to traffic conditions to reduce traffic congestion. For implementing this system, a server, microcontroller board, cameras, as hardware and wireless network between traffic lights as infrastructure for communication are used. The system uses machine learning technique (i.e.,Yolov3 model and OpenCV) for decision depending on existence of emergency cars and number of cars. The experiment results show higher accuracy in managing traffic lights and recognizing the emergency cars.

Traffic prediction is significant to QoS design because it assists efficient management of network resources to improve the reliability and performance of the next generation Internet. The unavoidable traffic variation caused by diverse Internet services complicates traffic prediction, particularly in a multi-hop network. To simplify the complicated statistical analysis used in traditional approaches, an adaptive traffic prediction approach featuring robustness, high accuracy and high adaptability is proposed in this paper. The proposed approach bases on a novel fuzzy clustering algorithm to generalize and unveil the hidden structure of traffic patterns. The unveiled structure represents the characteristics of the target traffic. Therefore, it can be referenced to predict traffic in a limited time period by fuzzy matching. To track the variation of target traffic, the proposed approach adopts an incremental and dynamic on-line clustering procedure so that the prediction can maintain high accuracy under traffic variation. To verify the performance of the proposed approach and investigate its properties, the periodical, Poisson and real video traffic patterns have been used to experiment. The experimental results showed an excellent performance of the developed adaptive predictor. The prediction errors, in average, are near 2.2%, 13.6% and 7.62% for periodical, Poisson and real video traffics, respectively.

Traffic flow characteristics have a significant impact on occurrence risk of road crash. The most important characteristics of the traffic flow, the impact of which is the subject of numerous studies, are the traffc flow, density, average traffic flow speed, dispersion of traffic flow speeds, as well as the contents of vehicle in traffic flow. These characteristics are in strong correlation between each other, so changes in one parameter conditional make change of other parameters. Research shows that speed-related traffic flow parameters have a significant impact on occurrence risk of road crash. Therefore, in this study an analysis of the impact of the change in the average speed of the traffic flow on the risk of an accident occurred. The research includes a section of the single carriageway from Preljina to Ljig. After the construction of the highway in the stated section of the signle carriageway, a change in the characteristics of the traffic flow occurred, with this study examining the impact of changing the average speed of the traffic flow to the occurrence risk of road crash. The connection between the speed of traffic flow and the risk of accidents has been confirmed in this study, so with the increase in average speed the risk of accidents increases.

This paper presents the performance analysis of such switches with respect to packet loss ratio (PLR), latency and packet delay variation (PDV). We employed the Simula based on discrete event modelling on Simula (DEMOS), a context class for discrete event simulation to simulate a cut-through optical ethernet switch under two types of traffics: high priority (HP) traffic and low priority (LP) traffic. In this way, the paper evaluates the optical Ethernet switch performance quantitatively. The results obtained from the simulator showed that the high quality of service was reflected on HP traffic and the low quality of service in LP traffic. Hence, HP traffic can be used for transporting radio over ethernet (RoE) traffic while LP traffic can used for transporting time insensitive application. It is also found that HP traffic experiences a PDV equals to the duration of maximum sized LP traffic in Optical Ethernet switch.</span></p>

In a nineteenth century context, traffic could mean both communication and the transportation of goods and people. For instance, the German term “traffic” (Verkehr), referred to “communicating” (verkehren) and to “traffic”/“transportation” (Verkehr). Historically speaking, before the age of telegraphy, any communication over distance required the physical transport of a message or a messenger. Many authors, thus, identified the latter as a fundamental caesura in the relationship between media and mobility, uncoupling media from their previous reliance on physical movement. At the same time, telegraphy and the railway formed a paradigmatic symbiosis that enforced the ongoing duality between media and mobility: traffic depended on and sometimes boosted communication and vice versa. Hence, traffic and media were not disconnected as such, but their connections were rearranged and new ones emerged while others such as the postal services persisted.

Silesian Voivodeship is the most populated area in Poland, having a well-functioning road network and a dense rail network, which unfortunately is not sufficiently used due to low capacity due to poor technical condition (at medium speeds not exceeding 30 km/h for passenger traffic and 20 km/h for freight traffic). On the railway network in Silesia there is mixed traffic, ie. Commodity-passenger. Often freight traffic has priority over passenger traffic and a number of railway lines is greater % of occupancy. The article presents the historical regional railway, which was to be dedicated to only passenger traffics, as a movement dedicated on Silesia for such carriage. Unfortunately, for economic reasons and it seems that the political, this project has not been implemented, even though part of the design was made at 100% and part of the infrastructure at 30%.

There are much mountainous areas in China. Mountainous traffic is greatly different from the plain.Interrelation of mountain landform and the traffic there is analyzed first. Because mountainous traffics and towns are greatly influenced by the disasters there, chain reaction of disasters and its dispersing impact are in particular demonstrated. The course of a disaster could be divided into several stages. Through analyzing their characteristics, solutions in turn to treat disaster are listed. A case is given to elaborate the disaster and its impact on the traffic and town.

Streszczenie:
Internet traffic classification is a fundamental task for network services and management. There are good machine learning models to identify the class of traffic. However, finding the most discriminating features to have efficient models remains essential. In this paper, we use interpretable machine learning algorithms such as decision tree, random forest and eXtreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) to find the most discriminating features for internet traffic classification. The dataset used contains 377,526 traffics. Each traffic is described by 248 features. From these features, we propose a 12-feature model with an accuracy of up to 99.76%. We tested it on another dataset with 19626 flows and obtained 98.40% of accuracy. This shows the efficiency and stability of our model. Also, we identify a set of 14 important features for internet traffic classification, including two that are crucial: port number (server) and minimum segment size (client to server).

Streszczenie:
The impacts of advanced traveler information system’s (ATIS’s) penetration and compliance rates on network performances during hybrid traffic emergency evacuation are investigated in a degraded road network. Before traffic incident a Path-Size Logit (PSL) route choice model is integrated with constraints on the level of service (LOS) of traffic to formulate a bilevel programming model. It aims at minimizing traffic demand in road network which may locally deteriorate the LOS. The lower level is a PSL-stochastic user equilibrium model for multiple classes of users. During the ongoing incident, a multiobjective multiuser-class stochastic optimization model is established with the objectives of maximizing evacuation reliability and minimizing expected network travel time. Furthermore, computations and analyses are completed for five designated scenarios including a method proposed in previous literature. The results show that the evacuation reliability and different kinds of total expected travel time costs regularly increase with emergency traffic’s ATIS compliance rate and decrease with general traffic’s ATIS penetration rate. The research will help improve transport network performance when considering ATIS’s effect on hybrid traffic.

In this study, the effects of slope and traffic intensity on soil compaction, rutting and forest floor removal was evaluated on a skid trail in the natural forest of north of Iran. Combination of two levels of slope &lt; 20% (SC1) and &gt; 20% (SC2) and three levels of traffic (one, five and nine traffics) were studied. Treatment plots, with three replications, were established on the skid trail prior to skidding. The results of this study showed that all bulk densities were considerably higher in SC2 than in SC1 and average soil bulk densities were measured from 1.07 (g∙cm&ndash;3) to 1.23 (g∙cm&ndash;3) on skid trail and 0.91 (g∙cm&ndash;3) in undisturbed areas. With the increment of traffic, soil compaction increased but there was no significant difference among the three levels of traffic frequency in SC1 whereas it was significant between one and five cycles in SC2. Greatest rut depth was measured as 12 cm at nine traffics in SC2, although increase of traffic density caused deeper rut depth at all slope treatments, but it was higher at the SC2 in comparison to SC1. Litter mass decreased considerably on the skid trail with the increasing in slope and traffic. No important difference has been detected between SC1 and SC2 in terms of Litter mass removal. These results provide clear evidence that soil disturbance on steep trail is intensified.

Streszczenie:
This paper proposes an efficient origin-estimation bandwidth (OD band) model, which provides dedicated progression bands for arterial traffic based on the real-time dynamic matrix of their estimated OD pairs. The innovations of the OD band model are as follows: First, the dynamics of through and turning-in/out traffics are analyzed based on the matrix of their estimated OD pairs, and used to generate the traffic movement sequence at continuous intersections; Second, the end-time of green interval for lag-lag phase sequence at continuous intersections is determined according to the relevant constraints, the relationship between the start/end-time of green interval and the minimum/maximum green intervals; Third, the bandwidths of the two directions of the artery ware produced, after being weighted by their traffic demands. The intuitiveness, convenience, and feasibility of the OD band model were fully demonstrated through a case study. Overall, the OD band model helps to produce bi-directional progression bands for traffic with many turning movements on the artery, and enables the through and turning-in/out traffics to proceed through continuous intersections, when the signals at those intersections are green.

Streszczenie:
Cloud computing is one of the high-demand services and prone to numerous types of attacks due to its Internet based backbone. Flooding based attack is one such type of attack over the cloud that exhausts the numerous resources and services of an individual or an enterprise by way of sending useless huge traffic. The nature of this traffic may be of slow or fast type. Flooding attacks are caused by way of sending massive volume of packets of TCP, UDP, ICMP traffic and HTTP Posts. The legitimate volume of traffic is suppressed and lost in traffic flooding traffics. Early detection of such attacks helps in minimization of the unauthorized utilization of resources on the target machine. Various inbuilt load balancing and scalability options to absorb flooding attacks are in use by cloud service providers up to ample extent still to maintain QoS at the same time by cloud service providers is a challenge. In this proposed technique. Change Point detection approach is proposed here to detect flooding DDOS attacks in cloud which are based on the continuous variant pattern of voluminous (flooding) traffic and is calculated by using various traffic data based metrics that are primary and computed in nature. Golden ration is used to compute the threshold and this threshold is further used along with the computed metric values of normal and malicious traffic for flooding attack detection. Traffic of websites is observed by using remote java script.

Streszczenie:
Motor vehicle crashes (MVCs) have a huge cost to society in terms of death, injury and property damage. The cost of fatal MVCs alone is estimated at US $44 billion per year. Among many confounding factors, traffic citations as an element that may reduce MVC frequency are not well understood, and most research carried out to date has evaluated the effects of the total number of citations on the number of MVCs. However, certain types of citations may be more likely to reduce the number of MVCs, whereas other types are not very effective. This research was set out to examine the impact of different types of traffic citations on MVCs on two hazardous main US highways in Wyoming US-30 and US-26. A negative binomial modeling technique was implemented by exploiting 4 years of crash and citations data to identify the causal impacts of traffic citations on crash frequency by incorporating traffic and geometric features. The modeling results showed that higher numbers of speeding and seat belt citations reduce the number of crashes significantly. These findings are the results of law enforcement efforts along the highways. Traffic count and the number of horizontal curves were found to significantly increase the number of MVCs.
