Infections of endoparasites in primates in natural habitats are highly prevalent and can cause disease, reduce health quality, and disrupt their life. This study investigated endoparasites prevalence value in the endangered Javan gibbon (Hylobates moloch) in Citalahab Forest, Gunung Halimun Salak National Park, Indonesia, from June to August 2022 by collected fecal samples (N = 10) and analyzed it using floatation methods. As a result, we found five genera of nematodes Trichuris trichiura (10% egg worm prevalence, Oesophagostomum spp. (50%), Trichostrongylus spp. (60%), Ancylostoma spp. (80%),

This study was carried out in four orphanage homes in Kaduna and Zaria, Nigeria to determine the prevalence of intestinal helminth infections among the subjects aged 0-16 years. Stool specimens and Scotch tape swabs were collected and processed according to standard parasitological techniques. Out of the ninety (90) specimens collected, 57 (63.3%) were positive for intestinal helminthes and 33(36.7%) were negative. The age group of 4-10 years had the highest prevalence of 43.8% while the children less than 1 year had the least prevalence of 5.27%. Infection with Ascaris lumbricoides w

Zoonotic parasites are those that can infect humans and live on other animals. Several species, including goats, horses, cattle, and pigs, were later domesticated for meat or dairy products, which contributed to the spread of these diseases. Zoonosis is the term used to describe the spread of disease from one species to another as a result of contact between these two groups. The most zoonotic protozoa found in Iraq are Giardia lamblia, Cryptosporidium parvum, Toxoplasma gondii and leishmania spp. The main zoonotic helminths are trematodes, cestodes, and nematodes. Soil-transmitted helminths, such as roundworms (Ascaris lumbricoides), whipworms (Trichuris trichiura) and hookworms (Necator americanus and Ancylostoma spp.), are gastrointestinal parasites that occur predominantly in low- to middle-income countries worldwide and disproportionally impact children. Depending on the STH species, health status of the host and infection intensity, direct impacts of these parasites include malnutrition, anaemia, diarrhoea and physical and cognitive stunting. However, major limitations include its poor sensitivity, requirement for rapid sample processing, and inability to differentiate hookworm species nor detect Strongyloides spp. infections. We assessed the prevalence and intensity of STH species in Solomon Islands by conducting a province-wide survey using quantitative PCR (qPCR) for diagnosis, which can provide much better characterisation of STH burden than microscopy.
