Tribes of the leafhopper subfamily Typhlocybinae have traditionally been defined based on differences in forewing and hindwing venation. Except for Typhlocybini (sensu lato), the classification of tribes is relatively stable. The monophyly of Typhlocybini needs to be examined, and the relationships among genera within Typhlocybini have not been resolved. Few mitogenome sequences representative of major lineages of Typhlocybini have been available to facilitate a comprehensive phylogenetic analysis of the tribe. In this study, the complete mitogenomes of 19 species of Typhlocybini were sequence

To explore the characteristics of mitogenomes and reveal phylogenetic relationships of the tribes of Zyginellini and Typhlocybini in Typhlocybinae, mitogenomes of two species of the Zyginellini, Parazyginella tiani and Limassolla sp., were sequenced. Mitogenomes of both species contain 13 protein-coding genes (PCGs), 22 transfer RNA genes (tRNAs), two ribosomal RNA genes (rRNAs) and a large non-coding region (A + T-rich region). These characteristics are similar to other Membracoidea mitogenomes. All PCGs initiate with the standard start codon of ATN and terminate with the complete stop codon

AbstractChlorita nearctica is described from the Yukon Territory and is the first member of its genus found in the New World. A synopsis is presented to the Old World species of Chlorita Fieber, 1866 (Typhlocybinae, tribe Empoascini). A new typhlocybine tribe Forcipatini is created for Forcipata DeLong & Caldwell, 1936 and Notus Fieber, 1866. A synopsis of the genus Notus is presented, with Curta as a subgenus containing only the type species. Notus isolatus sp.nov. is described from Drummond Island, Michigan, in Lake Huron and from Quebec. A synopsis of the genus Forcipata DeLong & Ca

Among leafhoppers (Hemiptera, Cicadellidae), only Typhlocybinae are known in Mexico to inhabit avocado, an important horticultural crop. In this paper, a potential avocado pest, Dikrellamella Ruppel & DeLong, 1952, is redescribed and illustrated. Additionally, a detailed checklist and a key for all known species of Typhlocybinae associated with avocado trees in Mexico are provided.

Complete mitochondrial genome sequences facilitate species identification and analyses of phylogenetic relationships. However, the available data are limited to the diverse and widespread insect family Cicadellidae. This study analyzes and summarizes the complete mitochondrial genome structure characteristics of 11 leafhopper subfamilies and two newly sequenced Typhlocybinae species, Empoascanara wengangensis and E. gracilis. Moreover, using 13PCGs and rRNA data to analyze the nucleotide diversity, evolution rate, and the phylogenetic relationship between the subfamilies of 56 species, verifyi
