Head–neck cancers as a group have the 7th highest rate of incidence worldwide. The most often diagnosed disease of the head and neck is squamous cell carcinoma (90% of cases). Another specific group of tumors is brain tumors. These can be divided into primary tumors and secondary tumors associated with metastasis. Research shows that treating head and neck cancers continues to be problematic and challenging, and researchers are actively seeking new treatments that would improve survival rates and reduce side effects. They are broadly classified into capillary and cavernous hemangioma. Introduction: Soft tissue tumors (STTs) are a diverse group of neoplasms. It varies from the most common benign tumors to some self-limited lesions and rare malignant soft tissue tumors. Because of the overlap in their clinical and radiological characteristics, histopathology is crucial in determining their diagnosis. Objectives: To study the relative frequencies of types of soft tissue tumors (benign, intermediate and malignant) as well as their histological pattern in relation to age, gender and site of distribution. Methodology: This was a retrospective study conducted over a pe

Hemangiomas of muscles are rare congenital benign vascular tumors usually seen on the trunk and extremities, but can also appear on the head and neck regions. In a young adult with soft tissue attenuation mass in the skeletal muscle, hemangioma should be considered in the differential diagnosis. Ultrasound and computed tomography are the useful imaging modalities for the diagnosing of hemangioma and complete surgical excision is the treatment of choice. We report a case of 24 year old woman with an intramuscular hemangioma involving the posterior neck muscles who presented to our department wi

Abstract Intravascular papillary endothelial hyperplasia (IPEH), otherwise known as Masson’s tumor, is a benign lesion of the skin with no known malignant transformations reported. It is considered a non-neoplastic lesion, as it is reactive to some vascular insult, usually a thrombus in a vein leading to vascular endothelial cell proliferation. Masson’s tumor typically presents as a slow-growing, indolent lesion commonly affecting the head, neck and arms with a female predominance. It comprises ~2% of all malignant and non-malignant vascular tumors of the skin and subcutaneous tissue. We are p

Masseter hemangiomas are rare benign vascular tumors that arise from the proliferation of endothelial cells within the masseter muscle. While hemangiomas account for a significant proportion of vascular anomalies, intramuscular hemangiomas are exceedingly uncommon, particularly in the masseter region, which represents the most frequent site in the head and neck. Intense stretching of muscle fibers and associated nerves is believed to be a predisposing factor. This study aims to discuss the clinical presentation, diagnostic challenges, and management of masseter hemangiomas. We report a case of

Hemangiopericytomas are rare soft-tissue neoplastic lesions that can arise in any part of the body. They are mesenchymal tumors that account for 3 to 5% of all soft-tissue sarcomas and 1% of all vascular tumors. They originate in extravascular cells (pericytes). Some 15 to 30% of all hemangiopericytomas occur in the head and neck; of these, approximately 5% occur in the sinonasal area. We describe our brief retrospective review of 7 histologically proven cases of sinonasal hemangiopericytoma, and we discuss the imaging characteristics and clinical and pathologic findings in these patients.
