Multimedia applications such as Video-on-Demand (VoD), Live streaming, Internet stock quotes, Internet radio, audio/music delivery, video surveillance are of growing interest among general public. Existing systems that support these kinds of applications such as centralized server, independent server nodes, and proxy incur significant delay and serve only less number of videos. In this research, a multi-server system that utilizes a split and merge scheme is proposed to reduce the waiting time. This system helps us to achieve load balancing, while increasing the number of videos being served. Our simulation model consists of a single main multimedia server and a set of streaming servers. The performance of the proposed system for various K values is evaluated in the VoD scenario. The results show that the proposed multi-server scheme performs better in terms of initial latency and number of videos being served, compared to the other existing schemes. The bus video monitoring system is composed by WCDMA transmission system, video server system, system monitoring center and outreach system. By WCDMA wireless transmission module achieving real time video data return, while using VPDN network technology. Using of the DVS video server and by WCDMA transmission system, the monitoring videos information will be transmitted to the monitoring center rapidly and in real time. The monitoring center can remotely monitor, manage, and dispatch the bus. The results demonstrating this system has good real time transmission ability.

Intelligent video analytics systems have come to play an essential role in many fields, including public safety, transportation safety, and many other industrial areas, such as automated tools for data extraction, and analyzing huge datasets, such as multiple live video streams transmitted from a large number of cameras. A key characteristic of such systems is that it is critical to perform real-time analytics so as to provide timely actionable alerts on various tasks, activities, and conditions. Due to the computation-intensive and bandwidth-intensive nature of these operations, however, video analytics servers may not fulfill the requirements when serving a large number of cameras simultaneously. To handle these challenges, we present an edge computing-based system that minimizes the transfer of video data from the surveillance camera feeds on a cloud video analytics server. Based on a novel approach of utilizing the information from the encoded bitstream, the edge can achieve low processing complexity of object tracking in surveillance videos and filter non-motion frames from the list of data that will be forwarded to the cloud server. To demonstrate the effectiveness of our approach, we implemented a video surveillance prototype consisting of edge devices with low computational capacity and a GPU-enabled server. The evaluation results show that our method can efficiently catch the characteristics of the frame and is compatible with the edge-to-cloud platform in terms of accuracy and delay sensitivity. The average processing time of this method is approximately 39 ms/frame with high definition resolution video, which outperforms most of the state-of-the-art methods. In addition to the scenario implementation of the proposed system, the method helps the cloud server reduce 49% of the load of the GPU, 49% that of the CPU, and 55% of the network traffic while maintaining the accuracy of video analytics event detection.

Recently, many video applications like video telephony, video conferencing, Video-on-Demand (VoD), and so forth have produced heterogeneous consumers in the Internet. In such a scenario, media servers play vital role when a large number of concurrent requests are sent by heterogeneous users. Moreover, the server and distributed client systems participating in the Internet communication have to provide suitable resources to heterogeneous users to meet their requirements satisfactorily. The challenges in providing suitable resources are to analyze the user service pattern, bandwidth and buffer availability, nature of applications used, and Quality of Service (QoS) requirements for the heterogeneous users. Therefore, it is necessary to provide suitable techniques to handle these challenges. In this paper, we propose a framework for peer-to-peer- (P2P-) based VoD service in order to provide effective video streaming. It consists of four functional modules, namely, Quality Preserving Multivariate Video Model (QPMVM) for efficient server management, tracker for efficient peer management, heuristic-based content distribution, and light weight incentivized sharing mechanism. The first two of these modules are confined to a single entity of the framework while the other two are distributed across entities. Experimental results show that the proposed framework avoids overloading the server, increases the number of clients served, and does not compromise on QoS, irrespective of the fact that the expected framework is slightly reduced.

This paper proposes a remote monitoring system that consists of three clients and servers. A web server is adopted to supply a remote visiting interface for browsers from Internet. A video server is installed to capture the live streaming video, and broadcast it to video clients that are embedded in browsers. More ever, a TCP DAQ (Data Acquisition) server is designed to acquire data from sensors, and then transmit them to VI (Virtual Instrument) clients that are also embedded in browsers. To support VI clients that are designed by different languages, such as C++, Flex or HTML5, multiple protocols are integrated in the TCP DAQ server. Through identifying the type of virtual instrument client that is connected to it, the TCP DAQ server can select a protocol automatically.

Recent growth in popularity of mobile video services raises a demand for one of the most popular and convenient methods of delivering multimedia data, video streaming. However, heterogeneity of currently existing mobile devices involves an issue of separate video transcoding for each type of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablet PCs, and smart TVs. As a result additional burden comes to media servers, which pretranscode multimedia data for number of clients. Regarding even higher increase of video data in the Internet in the future, the problem of media servers overload is impending. To struggle against the problem an offloading method is introduced in this paper. By the use of SorTube offloading framework video transcoding process is shifted from the centralized media server to the local offloading server. Thus, clients can receive personally customized video stream; meanwhile the overload of centralized servers is reduced.

Oleh karena itu dikembangkan teknologi Telehealth yaitu komunikasi yang membahas kondisi kesehatan seseorang. Penelitian ini merancang sistem untuk memberi kemudahan dalam mengakses solusi kesehatan yang lebih cepat dan tepat tanpa harus berpindah tempat dalam jangkauan jaringan lokal. Dengan sistem ini penanganan terhadap penyakit pasien dapat dilakukan lebih cepat karena menggunakan komunikasi client dan server yang dapat mengakses langsung data rekam medis, sebagai acuan penyembuhan pasien. Sistem ini, menghasilkan komunikasi kesehatan berbasis client server yang terintegrasi dengan data rekam medis pasien sekaligus menyediakan fitur videocall. Komunikasi dapat dilakukan bersamaan mengakses data rekam medis sehingga setiap pengguna dapat menemukan solusi yang tepat dan cepat untuk penanganan penyakit pasien. Server harus selalu terbuka untuk menghubungkan user. Server menampilkan setiap aktivitas user khususnya saat log in dan log out. Pengguna dapat memilih lawan bicara yang telah log in untuk penanganan pasien. Melalui kuisioner kinerja sistem, diperoleh 97,78% jawaban Ya, 2,22% jawaban ragu, 0% jawaban tidak. Hasil tersebut menunjukkan sistem berjalan dengan baik memanfaatkan jaringan lokal. Basis data rekam medis pasien berupa data dummy dapat diakses digunakan sebagai acuan penanganan pasien yang tepat.

Pure Peer to Peer (P2P) network requires enhancing transportation of chunk video objects to the proxy server in the mesh network. The rapid growth of video on demand user brings congestion at the proxy server and on the overall network. The situation needs efficient content delivery procedure, to the video on demand viewer from the distributed storage. In general scenario, if the proxy server does not possess the required video stream or the chunk of that said video, then the same can be smoothly and rapidly streamed to the viewer. This paper has shown that multitier mesh shaped hybrid architecture composed of P2P and mesh architecture increase the number of requests served by the dynamic environment in comparison with the static environment. Optimized storage finding path search reduces the unnecessary query forward and hence increases the size of content delivery to the desired location.

Assuming that video streaming is now responsible for the absolute majority of the Internet traffic and considering that the audience uses WebRTC-enabled web browsers and mobile devices to access and retrieve content, this work proposes the development of a peer-to-peer overlay network to assist the delivery of video streaming events that use HTTP-based protocols without the need to install additional software. Using the peer-to-peer network, the client/server model becomes hybrid, where network nodes that are watching the same event can retrieve portions of the video content directly from the server or neighboring nodes. This approach has two main objectives; decrease the client/server traffic and consequently the economic cost of delivery while improving the quality of the users' experience, given that communication between neighboring nodes can support the flow of better quality videos between the points

AbstrakPemantauan secara terus menerus akan membebani storage pada server, karena ukuran berkas video hasil rekaman akan sangat besar. Salah satu cara untuk mengatasi masalah tersebut adalah dengan membuat agar webcam hanya merekam pada saat-saat dibutuhkan saja. Contoh ‘saat yang dibutuhkan’ ini adalah saat seseorang memasuki ruangan. Karena itu dibutuhkan sebuah sistem pemantauan yang dapat melakukan deteksi gerakan pada suatu ruangan. Dalam penelitian ini, masalah tersebut coba diselesaikan dengan merancang bangun sistem pemantau ruangan berbasis Komputer mini (Raspberry Pi). Sistem pemantauan ini dibuat menggunakan program motion. Program motion menangani deteksi gerak dan streaming, selain itu sistem juga dibuat agar dapat mengirimkan notifikasi saat terjadi gerakan melalui email. Untuk alasan keamanan dan backup data, sistem juga akan mengunggah video hasil rekaman ke Google Drive. Sistem terdiri dari 1 server dan 1 klien yang saling berhubungan menggunakan jaringan WLAN. Sistem diuji kinerjanya dengan mengamati parameter frame rate video hasil rekaman. Sistem juga diuji kemampuan deteksi geraknya pada intensitas cahaya yang berbeda-beda. Dari pengujian didapatkan bahwa kondisi terbaik untuk sistem adalah pada framesize 320x240 dengan intensitas cahaya lebih dari 8 lux. One of the solution to this problem is to make system only record at necessary time. The example of the “necessary time” is when someone enter the room. Because of that, surveillance system which can detect motion in the room is needed. In this research, mentioned problem was tried to be solved by design and build a mini computer (Raspberry Pi) based room surveillance system. This surveillance system is made with Motion program. Motion program handle motion detection and streaming. Besides that, system also made so it can send notification via email, when motion is detected. For security and back up data reasons, system will also upload recorded video to Google Drive. System consists of one server and one client that are connected using WLAN network. The System performance was tested by observing recorded video frame rates as parameter. The motion detection of the system was also tested on various light intensity. Quality of experience (QoE) when accessing video streaming becomes a challenge in varieties of network bandwidth/speed. Adaptive streaming becomes an answer to gain good QoE. An architecture system of the adaptive streaming server with Dynamic Adaptive Streaming over HTTP (DASH) was proposed. The system was consists of two services e.g transcoding and streaming. Transcoding service encodes an audio file, multi-bitrates video files, and manifest.mpd files. Streaming service serves client streaming requests that appropriate to client network profiles. The system is built using the Golang programming environment and FFMPEG. Transcoding service has some execution mode (serial and concurrent) and passing mode (1 pass and 2 passes). The transcoding service test results show that concurrent execution is faster 11,5% than the serial execution and transcoding using 1 pass is faster 46,95% than 2 passes but the bitrate of output video lower than the determinate bitrate parameter. The streaming service has a good QoE. In the 5 scenarios, buffer level=0 happens 5 times, and its total duration is 64 seconds. Buffer level=0 happens when extreme changes happen in network speed from fast to too slow.

Munculnya Single Board Computer seperti Raspberry Pi di pasaran yang lebih murah serta hemat daya dibandingkan PC dapat menghemat biaya pengadaan komputer dan biaya operasional. Dengan kemampuan komputasi yang dimilikinya, Raspberry Pi dapat difungsikan menjadi berbagai macam server termasuk server VVoIP, sehingga untuk membangun jaringan VVoIP tidak lagi diperlukan sebuah komputer. Dalam penelitian ini Raspberry Pi difungsikan sebagai SIP (Session Initiation Protocol) server dari aplikasi video phone menggunakan Asterisk. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui kinerja Raspberry Pi baik dalam panggilan per detik maupun panggilan bersamaan dengan resolusi CIF dan resolusi VGA. Penelitian ini juga menggunakan codec G711a dan VP8, serta untuk mengetahui kelayakan penggunaan server tersebut, dilakukan analisis QoS dari setiap panggilan dengan jumlah panggilan bersamaan tertentu. Untuk perbandingan, akan dilakukan pengujian terhadap PC yang digunakan sebagai SIP server. Berdasarkan hasil pengujian, dapat dilihat bahwa untuk jumlah panggilan per detik dan panggilan bersamaan, Raspberry Pi mampu melayani komunikasi VVoIP dengan baik dan layak diimplementasikan sebagai SIP server untuk aplikasi video phone. Namun, untuk penggunaan pada skala yang lebih besar, PC masih memiliki lebih banyak keunggulan dibanding Raspberry. Raspberry Pi yang difungsikan sebagai SIP server mampu melayani hingga 131 panggilan video dengan resolusi CIF dan 94 panggilan video dengan resolusi VGA.

In multi-view video plus depth (MVD) coding based free viewpoint video applications, a few reference viewpoints’ texture and depth videos should be compressed and transmitted at the server side. At the terminal side, the display view videos could be the decoded reference view videos or the virtual viewpoints’ videos which are synthesized by DIBR technology. The entire video quality of all display views are decided by the number of reference viewpoints and the compression distortion of each reference viewpoint’s texture and depth videos. This paper studies the impact of the reference viewpoints selection on the entire video quality of all display views. The results show that depending on the available network bandwidth, the MVD coding requires different selections of reference viewpoints to maximize the entire video quality of all display views.

Video streaming dapat digunakan untuk proses belajar mengajar di kampus. Dosen dapat mendistribusikan materi kuliah berupa file video kepada mahasiswa. Jaringan komputer kampus Unsrat yang selama ini hanya digunakan untuk akses internet dan sistem informasi terpadu kampus akan diberdayakan juga untuk membroadcast video. Untuk studi performa dibuat server komputer tempat file video yang akan dibroadcast di jaringan kampus. Komputer yang digunakan sebagai server sengaja diambil komputer lama yang sudah tidak digunakan untuk menunjukkan bahwa kebutuhan minimum sistem komputer untuk server video tidak terlalu berat. Hasil pengujian menunjukkan bahwa penggunaan bandwitdth untuk streaming relatif kecil dan tidak mengganggu performa jaringan secara keseluruhan. Kata kunci: Video streaming, kompresi H.264
