Abstract Three types of drinking water used in Thailand, tap water, rain water and deep well water (200 m) were tested for bacteriological and coliphage content. 13.5% of the samples contained only coliphage and 13% contained both coliphage and total coliforms. The incidence of coliphage in these potable water supplies reflect the probability of human pathogenic virus also surviving in these waters. The H2S paper-strip test was found to be an equally sensitive indicator of coliform presence compared to MF and MPN total coliform procedures.

The effect of gallium on aluminum during their fusion is investigated. The corrosion rate of aluminum alloys with 1, 2 and 5 at % gallium content was experimentally determined, which was 0.001, 0.00101 and 0.00062 g/m2 · h, respectively, which is less than that of pure grade A99 aluminum – 0.0016 g/m2 · h. The rate of dissolution of these alloys in acidic and alkaline media is determined. X-ray phase analysis showed the homogeneity of the alloys under consideration. During the vegetation season, the water storage in the soil aeration zone is influenced by meteorological phenomena and by the vegetated cover. If the groundwater table is in contact with the soil profile, its contribution to water storage must be considered. This impact can be either monitored directly or the mathematical model of the soil moisture regime can be used to simulate it. We present the results of monitoring soil water content in the aeration zone of the East Slovakian Lowland. The main problem is the evaluation of the soil water storage in seasons and in years in the soil profile.
