Malnutrition is a persistent health problem among children in Bangladesh, especially under 2 year’s children due to the lack of proper weaning foods both diverse and balanced. Highly nutritive locally produced weaning foods were prepared using locally available food resources to ensure the availability of low-cost weaning food in Bangladesh. The developed foods were evaluated for their nutritional characteristics and microbiological quality. The food (L-1) contained the major nutrients like moisture, ash, fat, protein, fiber, carbohydrate, and energy respectively 2.96%, 3.13%, 9.45%, 15.56%, 0

ABSTRACT Weaning foods are additional food given to babies after the age of six months to 24 months old. The proportion of consumption of various weaning foods in children aged 6-23 months only reached 46.6% and in Srimulyo Village 4 mothers (80%) did not know the stages of giving weaning foods. Health education is an effort to increase mothers' knowledge about weaning foods. The objective of this research is to determine the effect of health education using videos on mothers' knowledge about weaning foods in Srimulyo Village in the work area of Bandar Negeri Suoh Public Health Center in 2023.

Vegetable foods (cereals, non-starchy vegetables, legumes) make a unique nutritional and metabolic contribution during weaning. They provide proteins that are of low biological value individually but whose value can be raised by consuming appropriate combinations: minimal amounts of lipids, mostly essential polyunsaturated fats; complex carbohydrates; and soluble fibre, which are fermented by colonic flora to short-chain fatty acids that have beneficial effects. Insoluble fibre, minerals, trace elements and vitamins are also nutritionally important components of vegetable foods. Vegetable food

The high incidence of diarrhoeal morbidity a the onset of weaning is due in part to consumption of contaminated food. This paper discusses the possible role of fermentation as a household food preparation technology in the improvement of the microbial quality of weaning foods as well as in providing adequate nutrients for infant growth and development. It discusses the extent to which fermented foods provide adequate nutrients; the degree to which fermentation can reduce the levels of aflatoxins, hydrocyanic acid, and other toxins in foods; whether fermentation reduces contamination of weaning

Weaning practices and the problems of weaning foods in West Africa are reviewed. The low nutrient density and high bulk of the weaning foods, early introduction of solid foods, and unhygienic practices predispose infants to malnutrition, growth retardation, infection, and high mortality. Multi-approach strategies, involving the development of improved recipes and processing, nutrition education, access to safe water, good sanitation, economic empowerment of women, reduction in workload, and promotion of breastfeeding, are recommended solutions to the problems.

Post-weaning is the most crucial period in pig management. Associated with weaning are marked changes to the histology and biochemistry of the gut which cause decreased digestive and absorptive capacity and contribute to post-weaning diarrhoea. In last years, the interest in developing management and feeding strategies to stimulate gut development and health in newly-weaned pigs was increasing. In order to increase general health in post-weaning piglets and be alternative to in-feeding antibiotic, three trials were created in this thesis to determine the utilizations of some functional foods

During the first months of life, breast milk is the main nutritional and immunological source, favoring the physical and cognitive development of the newborn (NB) (BRASIL, 2015). Early weaning consists of the interruption and insertion of other foods into the child's diet before 6 months. Even though it is beneficial, exclusive breastfeeding (EBF) is still a distant reality in many families. Given this, weaning can generate consequences for the baby, one of them being food allergies, which are immune-mediated reactions, generating inflammatory clinical responses, triggered by the intake of cer
