Streszczenie:
The development of the world financial system has led to the increasing importance of the role of professional financial institution management. Financial institutions are institutions that manage financial resources from other parties to be used for more productive activities. Advances in technology, information systems, and market openness at a wider level, for example at the global level, require financial institutions to be more careful in managing their business so as not to fall into losses that can involve many parties. This potential loss can arise from an institution's failure to manage the risks it faces, both financial risk, business risk and systemic risk. Therefore, proper risk management for a financial institution is a must.

On the turning point of European and world history, it is extremely important to unveil and effectively utilize the potential of effective high-quality education to make the future better for generations to come. Higher education quality management through accreditation has a long history of development in the United States, and time-proven standards, stimulating accredited institutions to continually improve academic quality.
The concepts, systems, principles and practices of accreditation arouse in the United States out of the need to meet the demands for quality, and evolved over decades, to form a coherent set of standards and frameworks of continuous improvement in all meaningful directions of the educational institutions’ life, striving for teaching excellence and high learning outcomes. At present, accreditation principles and processes, as exemplified by the Accreditation Council for Business Schools and Programs (ACBSP) programmatic accreditation, are implemented in the US and numerous countries of the world, to ensure high standard and continuous improvement of business education quality, to raise the competitiveness of educational institutions in response to the expectations of public (primarily, students and their families), governments, employers, universities/colleges, academics, and broader communities.
This study establishes the correlation of the quality management system via ACBSP accreditation with the continuous improvement of business education quality. This study also provides statistical evidence that the application of quality management principles at institutions of higher education with accredited business programs did result in the association with enhanced student learning outcomes.
Higher education quality management leads to higher employability of the institution’s graduates. Since the quality of education is crucial for the country’s economic growth and prosperity, the business education institutions and programs in Ukraine and other Central and Eastern European and Eurasian countries may benefit from implementing quality management through ACBSP accreditation for their undergraduate, graduate, and postgraduate (doctoral) business programs, to satisfy ever-rising expectations of candidates for top managerial and leadership positions.
The research suggests that 51% of the institutions of higher education with business programs in the United States, and 93% of the institutions of higher education worldwide could benefit from implementing accreditation principles and processes to maintain and enhance their education quality and competitiveness in the world business education market, for the sake of highest recognition of their graduates’ diploma on the global job markets and significant increase of their employability.

Wesley Carr devoted his life to the Church of England, using group relations theory to frame some of his thinking. He saw the primary task of religious institutions as containing irrationality and dependency on behalf of society. This article offers a summary of Wesley’s central ideas, with an extended illustration of his management (as Dean of Westminster) of Princess Diana’s funeral. The private and public mourning of millions around the world during and after this funeral is an example of the way religious institutions can respond to the needs of society by helping to manage the boundary transitions of life and death. The rituals of religion during such transitions can help individuals move beyond narrow subgroup identifications to discover their membership in a larger human community. For Wesley Carr, integrity meant to commit all of oneself to an institution’s primary task, negotiated with and on behalf of others, that connects to a transcendent set of ideals and beliefs.

Marketing management is a very important concept in the business world. Marketing management depends on organizational design that is tailored to market needs, especially target markets, in terms of price, distribution from suppliers to customers, and service. However, there are factors that affect the quality of an institution, namely the image of the institution (image). The views, perceptions and assessments of the public towards an institution will also affect the sustainability of the institution. Thus, the purpose of this study is to analyze theories about the role of marketing management on the existence of the image of corporate institutions. The theory used in this study is qualitative research, which is research that does not use quantitative data or statistical measuring tools. In accordance with the object of this research, this type of research is a category of library research, which is a series of studies that use literature studies. The result of his research is that marketing management has a very significant role in shaping the image of the institution. The existence of an institution's image depends on how the corporate institution packages marketing and publicizes it to the public. That marketing management also has a function to shape the company's knowledge and image for the community. Therefore, the existence of the image of the corporate institution depends on how the strategy and management of the company itself.

Streszczenie:
Masters in Public Administration - MPA<br>In January 1997, Robben Island Museum (RIM) opened its doors to the public as a tourist destination. This was done without any formal management structure or strategic planning, to cope not only with its mandate as the first National Museum of the new democratic South Africa, but also to meet the demand of the great interest of visitors to see this prison where the icon of the liberation struggle, Nelson Mandela was incarcerated for 27 years. This operational take-off without formal administrative management structure and strategic planning was understandable given the social and political transitional climate in the country. The effect thereof as the old adage states ‘failure to plan is planning for failure’ seems to hold true for RIM who is struggling to become a well-managed national heritage site. RIM over the years have been beset with governance and management challenges and enjoyed continual bad publicity. The study’s aim was to bring an understanding of what the major governance and managerial challenges were and to make recommendations to address those. The study was guided by a central research question namely What were the administrative and management challenges of RIM and in what ways did it impact on the operational effectiveness of RIM as a national museum and World heritage site. A number of findings emanated from the study. A key one was that clarity of roles and responsibilities of the council and the management is required. Furthermore, the vision and mission of RIM must inform the formulation of strategies to give effect thereto. This in turn must be the base for the development of an appropriate organisational structure to implement the strategies. A number of recommendation stems from the research. An important one was that appointment must be on the basis of ‘fit for purpose’. This means that staff with the right skills and capacity should be appointed as a matter of priority. In conclusion, the findings of the study could be used by other heritage organisations faced with similar organisational challenges.<br>Robben Island Museum Training and Development Staff Bursary

Streszczenie:
The challenge of rapid urbanisation and its attendant demands for infrastructure and services, confronts every local government in the developing world. The weakness of that local government compounds the enormity of the challenge. The most recent literature, on the general topic of Third World city management, does not offer a coherent set of interventions to deal with the urban or institutional aspects of city growth. This is despite some current work in multi-lateral development agencies and in academic circles. This thesis therefore seeks to develop a set of frameworks to guide future interventions in the urban management systems of developing countries. It does so by investigating the theory of institutional development and its application in the practice of urban management. It also analyses the literature on the function and form of Third World city management. The synthesis suggests three frameworks to guide the urban management process and its institutional development imperatives. These imperatives concern the integration, decentralisation and sustainability of the process. In turn, the process seeks to embrace the holistic nature of urban management. This holism includes the symbiotic relationship between the city and its governing institution. Ultimately, the intention is to present these frameworks as thinking checklists. These are designed to encourage both theorists and practitioners to discover solutions to the urban management challenge in their parts of the Third World.

This research explores the adoption of lesbian- and gay-friendly policies by companies in Italy, a national context characterized by conflicting pressures related to the deinstitutionalization of heterosexism in the workplace. We examine the logics and the processes by which 14 organizations have implemented organizational practices aimed at the inclusion of gay and lesbian employees. Relying on the notion of institutional entrepreneurship we show how the interventions of two key actors – as institutional entrepreneurs – resulted decisive in shaping two different processes of adoption. An employer association is very much the crucial point of reference for a top-down process triggered and supported by organizations’ top management; at the same time, LGBT rights departments from trade unions are the crucial point of reference of bottom-up process stemming from individual company employees. While the first institutional entrepreneur promotes institutional change targeting managers with a business case narrative, the latter promotes institutional change employing much more of a social justice narrative. Despite the potential complementarities between the two processes, we argue that both actors (and their narratives) need the demarcation from each other in order to secure their legitimacy, which makes these processes non-coordinated. This study provides the first account for the adoption of LGB(T)-friendly policies in Europe and enriches the debate on institutional entrepreneurship by exploring parallel ways to address the same institutional change process.

Streszczenie:
The thesis is focused on economic capital management of top-ranked world banks. A basic theoretical framework is summarised at the beginning. The theoretical framework is then utilised in the main - empirical part. Since economic capital is not a figure commonly reported in any available database, we have created our own database based on annual reports of top fifty world banks of the year 2008. Based on this database we provide an extensive empirical study focused on years 2007-2010. Even though one third of the banks disclose economic capital only, thanks to our approach combining both quantitative and qualitative analysis we were able to study the topic in detail. Within quantitative part the development of economic capital and its allocation is studied, the differences between regulatory and economic capital in time is measured, a relationship between quality of economic capital disclosure and rating is searched for and relationship between the value of economic capital and changes in profits during financial crisis is studied. The qualitative part consists of case studies of fourteen banks. It is focused on special and unique features of economic capital management of individual financial institutions.

Streszczenie:
Justifying the relevance of the topic, the authors emphasise that education aimed at fulfilling the strategic objectives of economic development is determined, on the one hand, by the achievements of the basic sciences, and, on the other hand, by the development of production. The objective need to apply innovations in the management of educational institutions is determined by the Strategy for Sustainable Development of Ukraine until 2030, the transition of the EU countries (and in the future, Ukraine) to Industry 5.0, and the prospect of rebuilding the state in the face of a shortage of personnel. The author's concept is based on the following philosophical and methodological justifications of the regularity of innovative management of educational institutions: the need to change the theory and practice of managing an educational institution in a changing, increasingly integrated world, intensified global problems and crises; the principle of advanced development and the principle of innovation as principles of organisation and development of educational systems; the essence of mastering the technologies of future creation, advanced, innovative management, as well as the The study used a multidisciplinary approach; integrated various scientific areas; the results of theoretical research and practical activities. The authors distinguish between the concepts of innovation management in educational institutions (management of innovations in the educational process) and innovation management (management innovations). Innovation management is based on the theoretical provisions of general (system) management, management of organisations, is subject to the laws of innovation activity, at the same time it has its own specifics in the content, organisational and implementation aspects, due to sectoral characteristics (management of educational institutions). The concept of innovative management of educational institutions reveals the following: concept, subjects, objects, purpose, tasks, principles, process and tools of innovative management of educational institutions. The objects of innovative management of an educational institution are classified according to the following criteria: by type of resources (material, intangible, financial, technical, time-space, labour); by element of the management system (purpose, functions, methods, procedures, technologies, organisational structures); by management function (analysis, forecasting, design, planning, organisation, motivation, stimulation, control); by management tools (management decision, management technology, organisational structure). Along with local, modular and systemic changes, the authors distinguish permanent changes as a conscious management of transformations that become possible due to the search, development, implementation of innovative changes in management of an educational institution and monitoring of their effectiveness. On the basis of generalisation of the main stages of search and development of innovative changes; stages of the process of development and adoption of managerial decision on innovation; institutional cycle of management activity; project technology, an algorithm for permanent implementation of innovative changes in the management of an educational institution is developed. Innovative management as a type of activity is represented by a set of the following management tools: innovative management decisions, innovative management technologies, application of innovative structures and infrastructure, development of individual and group receptivity to the new; formation of an innovative environment of an educational institution.

AbstractThe digital transformation amounts to a fundamental reorganisation of the entire institutional setting. Potentials and dangers include new power asymmetries and a precarious “carving out” of specific functions of “traditional” institutions. Digital tools are particularly relevant for knowledge-based and data-intensive activities, goods and services. Based on an institutional-theoretical framework specifically suited to the comparative discussion of cooperatives, firms and markets, the potential functionality of cooperatives in a digitalised world is found to be promising in specific ways.

A conceptualization of change management framework informed that positive change is managed with considerations of type, elements and process. This framework was confirmed by recent situational analyses made at two Cambodia’s public higher education institutions where adoption of Blended Learning (the change) was found to be promising with increased students’ satisfaction, increased lecturers’ involvement and continued program expansion. Employing case study design, this study aims to reconfirm the constructs, suggesting, where possible, for readjustment to make it really works. To that end, in-depth interviews with institutional leadership and key informants and focus group discussion with involved faculties were conducted. Results from the study suggested that although the framework do explain the real management practices on the ground, it had been deformed in a way that allowed the above top management much bigger control on type and elements of change. Middle managements (the Center’s head) whose roles were supposed to have the above controls were left otherwise to manage the whole process of change. While this strategic error, on the one hand, made the above successes far from being institutionalized, it, on the other hand, confirmed the validity of the above framework. For this framework to be most practical, this study recommends that more strategic supports and policies, together with a reliable monitoring and evaluation platform, be developed while internal source of funding should also be secured.

Commitment leads directly to cooperative behavior, vital for long-term mutually beneficial relationships. When a relationship is weak and not considered in economic transactions, causing a microfinance institution (MIF) to disregard a small business entrepreneur’s actions, economic agents (i.e., the MIF and the entrepreneur) will lose economic rents. On the other hand, when a relationship is strong, and an entrepreneur’s actions are observed, the resulting economic rents will be such that each party will be better off building a relationship than not building it. COVID-19 in 2020 gave us an extraordinary opportunity to measure the impact of commitment in the interaction of MIF and survival entrepreneurs. Based on 876,920 observations from January 2020 to June 2021 of credits given to groups of survival entrepreneur women by a Mexican MIF, this study analyzes how relaxing credit policies during COVID-19 (financial distress time) has a positive effect on commitment from entrepreneurs to the MIF. This means that building a relationship between economic agents creates and distributes value among the economic agents.

This paper analyzes MIF efforts to improve inadequate training institutions and emphasize the basic importance of updating management and worker skills in SMEs in Latin America. The paper is organized as follows: Section I analyzes the problems behind the failures of both market-based and bureaucratic approaches to provide services such as training for SMEs. A cursory look at existing evidence from the developing world and Latin America in particular shows that SMEs not only lack adequate training institutions, but also an understanding of the basic importance in updating management and worker skills. Due to massive market failures and a lack of institutional experience, innovative supply-side initiatives are critical to help SMEs break out of low-equilibrium traps. Section II then shifts attention to the six SME training projects. After a discussion of the general aims of the Program and the individual projects, the paper assesses the projects in terms of their abilities to fill their different niches. In conclusion, Section III summarizes the lessons learned thus far from these projects.

This report from the Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) of the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) compares the project development effectiveness management instruments for sovereign guaranteed operations of the IDB with those of four peer institutions: the African Development Bank (AfDB), the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the International Fund for Agricultural Development (IFAD), and the World Bank (WB). The report is structured into five chapters. After the introduction, it reviews the instruments used at the project level, then examines how project results are monitored at the corporate level. It goes on to describe the institutional governance of development effectiveness before concluding with key findings from the comparative analysis. Based on document reviews and interviews, the report highlights differences in instruments used for project design and evaluability assessments, the dimensions covered by project monitoring tools, the criteria and methods to classify project performance during implementation, the level of authority for project restructuring, the application of criteria to assess project performance at completion, and how institutions monitor performance at the corporate level. This comparative analysis part of OVEs 2025 Development Effectiveness evaluation line aims to inform efforts to enhance the IDBs approach to development effectiveness.

Streszczenie:
This report critically examines, for the first time, the capacity of Canada’s water sector with respect to meeting and helping other countries meet the water-related targets of the UN’s global sustainable development agenda. Several components of this capacity are examined, including water education and research, investment in water projects that Canada makes internally and externally, and experiences in water technology and governance. Analysis of the water education system suggests that there is a broad capability in institutions of higher learning in Canada to offer training in the diverse subject areas important in water. In most cases, however, this has not led to the establishment of specific water study programmes. Only a few universities provide integrated water education. There is a need for a comprehensive listing of water-related educational activities in universities and colleges — a useful resource for potential students and employers. A review of recent Canadian water research directions and highlights reveals strong and diverse water research capacity and placed the country among global leaders in this field. Canada appears to be within the top 10 countries in terms of water research productivity (publications) and research impact (citations). Research capacity has been traditionally strong in the restoration and protection of the lakes, prediction of changes in climate, water and cryosphere (areas where water is in solid forms such as ice and snow), prediction and management of floods and droughts. There is also a range of other strong water research directions. Canada is not among the top 10 global water aid donors in absolute dollar numbers; the forerunners are, as a rule, the countries with higher GDP per capita. Canadian investments in Africa water development were consistently higher over the years than investments in other regions of the global South. The contributions dropped significantly in recent years overall, also with a decline in aid flow to Africa. Given government support for the right business model and access to resources, there is significant capacity within the Canadian water sector to deliver water technology projects with effective sustainable outcomes for the developing world. The report recommends several potential avenues to elevate Canada’s role on the global water stage, i.e. innovative, diverse and specific approaches such as developing a national inventory of available water professional capacity, and ranking Universities on the strength of their water programmes coordinating national contributions to global sustainability processes around the largest ever university-led water research programme in the world – the 7-year Global Water Futures program targeting specific developmental or regional challenges through overseas development aid to achieve quick wins that may require only modest investments resolving such chronic internal water challenges as water supply and sanitation of First Nations, and illustrating how this can be achieved within a limited period with good will strengthening and expanding links with UN-Water and other UN organisations involved in global water policy work To improve water management at home, and to promote water Canadian competence abroad, the diverse efforts of the country’s water sector need better coordination. There is a significant role for government at all levels, but especially federally, in this process.

It is readily apparent to everyone that there are multiple and serious concerns that face Muslim societies today. Terrorism, civil strife, poverty, illiteracy, factionalism, gender injustices and poor healthcare are just a few of the challenges to governance across the Muslim world. These are core issues for governance and public administration in any form of government. However, before we can engage with good governance within the context of Islam, we need to be clear what mean by good governance itself. A simple definition of good governance is that of an institutionalised competency of administration and institution leading to efficient resource allocation and management[1]. Another way of looking at it is as a system which is defined by the existence of efficient and accountable institutions[2]. Civil society now tends to look at good governance by way of impact measurement and how a certain set of processes result in a set of measurable and desirable outcomes.

This report examines some of the implications of price risk and volatility, and weather risks in the LAC region that are important threats to already vulnerable populations. It considers the advantages and limitations of a set of financial instruments for managing these risks; and identifies potential mechanisms for addressing concerns about the socioeconomic consequences of price and weather volatility. In reviewing the innovations that are being tested in the LAC region and around the world, what is striking is that they appear to be disparate and largely piecemeal solutions to the problems of price and natural disaster risk management - they are not integrated. A more efficient and holistic solution should draw upon the recent efforts of coordination among countries within regions. The importance of risk aggregation and pooling combined with the comparative advantage of International Financial Institutions to access capital and work in a regional context, suggests a strategy to develop a fully multicountry approach to risk management. This strategy calls for establishing a Regional Asset Management Platform (RAMP) that integrates central stakeholders and develops pricing and measurement tools for extreme weather risk management and price volatility in a more efficient fashion. Global drivers of price volatility for major commodities can be managed using international futures exchange markets to some extent. However, regional climate anomalies will also mean that individual countries can suffer price volatility that represents a basis risks when using international futures markets. Thus, combining risk transfer products for regional climate anomalies with the use of careful hedging strategies for global volatility may offer better risk management strategies for either lower than expected prices that adversely affect producers or higher than expected prices that adversely affect consumers.

While labor productivity increases after privatization, the ratio of permanent workers to temporary workers also increases. Convergence depends to some degree on the quality of the institutions, namely, the rule of law. Not only is this true for the ratio of permanent workers to temporary workers, but also for education of the workforce, and for the managers years of experience. On the other hand, the rule of law appears to be less important in the case of labor productivity and training.

The North Atlantic right whale (Eubalaena glacialis) remains one of the most endangered large whales in the world. Over the past two decades, there has been increasing interest in addressing the problems hampering the recovery of North Atlantic right whales by using innovative research techniques, new technologies, analyses of existing databases, and enhanced conservation and education strategies. This increased interest demanded better coordination and collaboration among all stakeholders to ensure that there was improved access to data, research efforts were not duplicative, and that findings were shared with all interested parties. The North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium, initially formed in 1986 by five research institutions to share data among themselves, was expanded in 1997 to address these greater needs. Currently, the Consortium membership is comprised of representatives from more than 100 entities including: research, academic, and conservation organizations; shipping and fishing industries; whale watching companies; technical experts; United States (U.S.) and Canadian Government agencies; and state authorities. North Atlantic Right Whale Consortium members agreed in 2004 that an annual “report card” on the status of right whales would be useful. This report card includes updates on the status of the cataloged population, mortalities and injury events, and a summary of management and research efforts that have occurred over the previous 12 months.
