A variety of plant species found in nature contain agrobacterial T-DNAs in their genomes which they transmit in a series of sexual generations. Such T-DNAs are called cellular T-DNAs (cT-DNAs). cT-DNAs have been discovered in dozens of plant genera, and are suggested to be used in phylogenetic studies, since they are well-defined and unrelated to other plant sequences. Their integration into a particular chromosomal site indicates a founder event and a clear start of a new clade. cT-DNA inserts do not disseminate in the genome after insertion. Genetic colonization by agrobacteria is possible due to agrobacterial transformation, which implies interspecies transfer of genetic material (T-DNA). A transgenic tissue is formed on the whole non-transgenic plant during that process. However, it turned out that in nature there are plants containing T-DNA fragments in their genomes and they can inherit these T-DNAs sexually. Such T-DNA was called cellular, and such plants were called natural transgenic. Examples of such organisms are plants of the genus Vaccinium. Agapetus jocassee is a “Species of Concern” on the lists of the U.S.D.I. Fish and Wildlife Service because it is known from only three streams of the Lake Jocassee catchment in Oconee and Transylvania counties, South and North Carolina. To assist in solving identification problems and to contribute to knowledge of the distribution of this species, larvae and pupae of A. jocassee were collected from mountain streams in North and South Carolina, reared to adulthood and identified. The larva, pupa, and female of the species are described for the first time. Characters were found in those ontogene

The efficiency of extraction of Agapetus larvae (Glossosomatidae : Trichoptera) from quantitative benthic samples was estimated by the use of two approaches: an indirect estimate based on the probability of missing a specimen in two scans of a sample (the two-count method) and a direct estimate derived by re-picking samples. Both approaches gave similar estimates for the probability of missing a specimen of a given size and both showed that this probability increased as size decreased; losses ranged from 6% to 30%. The two-count method thus provides a reliable way to compensate for these losse

We present a genome assembly from an individual Agapetus fuscipes (the micro grey sedge; Arthropoda; Insecta; Trichoptera; Glossosomatidae). The genome sequence is 618.3 megabases in span. Most of the assembly is scaffolded into 33 chromosomal pseudomolecules, including the Z sex chromosome. The mitochondrial genome has also been assembled and is 22.35 kilobases in length.

AbstractIn this work, we present preliminary results based on an LMC Bar sample (AGAPEROS) of ⷍ 400 variable stars combined with near-Infared photometry (DENIS). About 50% of our objects are semiregular Variables (SRVs) while 20% are regular Variables with a period range from 30d up to 600d. A second period is present in ∼ 40% of the SRVs. We find a large fraction of regular variables with P < 100d which could be SRVs undergoing a phase of periodic variability. The Period-Colour relation (log P versus I – J), unstudied so far on the LMC, differs from the one found in the Galactic bulge: an
