With the Lyuli (Central Asian Romani people) children as an example, I explore the impacts of the unsettled way of life on the development of the attitude towards symmetry and asymmetry in childhood. Der Beitrag beschäftigt sich mit Christa Wolfs Roman Kindheitsmuster (1976), einem der wichtigsten Romane der DDR-Literaturgeschichte. Der Beitrag geht auch auf die Rezeption des Romans ein. Denn wer sich in der Gegenwart mit Christa Wolf beschäftigt, sollte diese Rezeptionsgeschichte zur Kenntnis nehmen. Mit dem Roman entwickelt Christa Wolf eine neue Art autobiografischen Schreibens, deren Traditionen kurz angesprochen werden.
