This thesis analyzes the Brutalist Campus and its context within the collegiate environment of the 1950s-1970s. It first defines the significance of the nation-wide phenomenon by examining its social and physical characteristics. As ruínas da arquitetura brutalista paulista e o aspecto simbólico de sua imagem são o tema desta pesquisa. Ela se desenvolve a partir de dois ensaios complementares: um fotográfico e outro textual. O primeiro, realizado nos últimos três anos, enfoca prédios modernistas paulistas em diferentes estados de conservação: arruinação após algum período de utilização, interrupção e abandono antes mesmo do término das obras e - no caso específico do prédio da FAU-USP -, o processo de restauração. Deux populations de tortues d’Hermann (Testudo hermanni, une espèce à maturité tardive ~10 ans) ont été étudiées sur le continent et sur une île dans la région du lac Prespa en Macédoine. Avant la maturité, la croissance des tortues est lente, puis accélère, entrainant une augmentation des taux de survie annuelle (de 0.30 à 0.70) et des variations de taille. My research arises from a critique of the tendency within terrorism debates to equate the terrorist act with the production of spectacular images. Chapter 1 uses the work of Luce Irigaray to critique this trend in terrorism discourses, arguing that such a characterisation relies on a repression of the very materiality that terrorist action exploits. Moreover, placing the concept of terror in an Irigarayan framework reveals that the concept of terrorism is bound up with concepts of masculinity.
