Regulation and regulatory agencies are to serve as external control mechanisms to ensure that the financial statements provide a fair view of the company’s operating performance and financial position, free of any unethical practice and suitable for all stakeholders’ needs. Despite the increasing importance of regulatory agencies in enforcing compliance with the standards and laws, it occupies a limited space in accounting research. This study, therefore, investigated the impact of regulatory agencies on creative accounting practices. The study used descriptive and survey research design to achieve its aim. It employed a multi-stage sampling technique, also questionnaires were distributed among 405 respondents consisting of preparers of accounts, users of accounts, and regulators. Out of the number distributed, the respondents returned 241 copies, and all of them were found suitable. The study used Ordinary Least Squares (OLS) to analyze the data and test the hypothesis. The empirical findings showed that the regulatory agencies jointly show a significant impact on creative accounting practices, but the level of contribution to the overall impact by each regulatory agency varies. The study concludes that Nigeria’s regulatory agencies are weak and inefficient in enforcing compliance with the relevant rules. The study recommends that the institutional capacity of the regulatory agencies should be strengthened by enforcing compliance with financial reporting rules and regulation. Most of these agencies should develop capacity in the areas of manpower, information technology infrastructures, and funding. Acknowledgment The authors acknowledge Covenant University who has solely provided the platform for this research and has also fully sponsored the research cluster search for data across the country.

School nurses often have the responsibility to ensure that students meet all immunization requirements for school entry and school attendance. In large inner-city school districts, many obstacles exist which make this task daunting and often result in lengthy absences and exclusions for students. It is critical that school nurses find creative and systematic ways to meet these challenges, which include working parents, lack of access to primary care, lack of transportation, cost of immunizations, poor compliance and follow-up, myths regarding immunizations, and the impact of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) legislation. This article describes an immunization project that removed most of those barriers for high-risk students and gave the school nurses tools to succeed in achieving higher levels of immunization compliance in inner-city schools. Since the immunization project’s conception, compliance in the district has risen from an overall level of 50–60% to 90–100%, along with better record-keeping and the prevention of exclusions.

To a large extent, the body of research that looks at individuals’ compliance with the law focuses on the dichotomy between compliance as rule-following and noncompliance as rule-breaking. However, a fascinating case of noncompliance is that where individuals selectively follow existing rules in order to circumvent the legal principle, this behaviour has been termed ‘creative compliance.’ In the current study, we investigated the psychological underpinnings of ‘creative compliance’ by assessing the attitudes of tax avoidance (significant minimisation of tax liability perceived to be legal) and tax evasion (illegal tax minimisation) of 330 owners of small businesses. We found that tax avoidance and tax evasion were perceived as qualitatively distinct by respondents and that they were predicted by different factors. While both tax avoidance and tax evasion were associated with weak personal norms to contribute to the tax system, tax avoidance was associated with a perception that the tax system is unfair, and that tax law has ‘loopholes’ that can be exploited, while tax evasion was predicted by the perception that evasion is a trivial crime. Overall, we provide insight into the under-investigated behaviour of ‘creative compliance’ and propose future research directions.

- Being fully and creatively alive depends on giving meaning to present experience in the light of the past (Winicott's "creative apperception") and at the same time rearticulating the past in the light of subsequent experience (après-coup). This freedom of psychic movement up and down a life should leave the present moment always open to the unheimlich. The same process needs also to extend into the future. A gaze forward from the present, and an imaginative gaze backward to it from the future, are the equivalent, with time's arrow reversed, of creative apperception and après-coup in relation to the past. The Author proposes the name of dynamic avant-coup, or Vorträglichkeit for this capacity to keep reconfiguring in fresh ways one's availability to the future, The present moment is created by the encounter between après-coup and avant-coup and is a point of intersection between time and timelessness. It punctuates an expanse boundaried by the primal scene and death. These two are always present, at some level, in the analytic encounter. A clinical example illustrates the presence of these themes beneath the conscious surface of the analytic work.Parole chiave: Vitalità, après-coup, compiacenza, appercezione creativa, morte, memoria, scena primaria, perturbanteKey words: Aliveness, après-coup, compliance, creative apperception, death, memory, primal scene, uncanny

Non-compliance in contact lens wear poses risks for microbial infection. Understanding the scope and extent of non-compliance behaviour is vital for eye care practitioners in deciding which aspect of lens care is critical when consulting patients. A survey was done to assess the level and scope of non-compliance behaviour among 66 young contact lens wearers. Overall, more than half of the participants (52%) did not comply with lens wear and care regimens. The most non-compliant behaviour was the lens cleaning procedure (59%). Eye care practitioners need to establish creative guidelines to improve compliance among the young lens wearers. Keywords: Contact lens; Compliance; Students; Lens care. eISSN: 2398-4287© 2020. The article deals with the problem of developing the ability of third-graders to retell a work of art in the process of creating a cartoon. The authors turn to the research of Russian scientists devoted to retelling as an interpretation of a literary text, reveal the concept, meaning, classification and stages of the retelling. The possibilities of the method of creating a cartoon in the development of children’s ability to retell a work of art are determined. This is possible under specially created conditions: compliance with all stages of work on a work of art, the inclusion of third-graders in joint creative activities to create a series of illustrations for the episodes of the work, conducting a clear and understandable instruction in the computer program for creating a cartoon from a series of illustrations, compliance with the stages of creating a cartoon based on the read work. The authors developed and experimentally tested a series of classes aimed at developing the ability to retell a work of art. Quantitative data on the evaluation of their effectiveness using a specially developed diagnostic technique are presented. The effectiveness of the tested classes in the development of the ability to retell a work of art through the creation of a cartoon is empirically proven. This article will be useful for primary school teachers.

Here we report a creative activity that we used to sustain and enhance hand hygiene compliance. In May 2014 we broke the first Guinness World Record for a Hand Sanitizing Relay. A total of 277 participants performed hand hygiene before two official and approved witnesses. Following this team-directed strategy, an increase in hand hygiene compliance was identified in two clinical areas with previously poor compliance. The longer term impact of this strategy remains to be determined. More broadly, further research is urgently needed on meeting the challenge of campaign fatigue, and maintaining and enhancing compliance with hand hygiene guidelines.

Scientific progress relies on the dialectics of loosening and tightening processes. Although most gripping accomplishments in psychological science testify to the critical role of creative and innovative theorizing (loosening), the ongoing debate on the quality of psychological science is focused almost totally on a restrictive sense of tightening, revolving around statistical hypothesis testing (tightening). A discussion of the imbalance between the conspicuous neglect of theory and the overstated importance of the sacred cow of significance testing raises a skeptical question: Do we seriously believe that stricter compliance rules, exact p values, effect size calculations, new statistics, and monitoring of research practices will foster the growth of excellent science? A more effective strategy would be to start a positive debate that focuses on the best exemplars of strong theorizing and fascinating findings, replacing the focus on insufficient science and unwanted practices.

This article explores the complexity of minority creative workers in the media industry. It challenges the common notion in the literature that minority creative workers are fully submissive to the dominant power structure and examines whether such workers could still be conceived as active agents by resisting submission and marginalization even when they cannot influence their own representation in hegemonic media texts. To answer this question, it explores the performances of minority creative workers in a hegemonic cultural industry. To determine whether one can speak of subaltern agency and, if possible, examine how it manifests itself in reality, it addresses the daily performances of Palestinian creative workers during the production of the second season of the Israeli television series, Fauda. Observations conducted during production demonstrate that since in such contexts minority creative workers cannot avoid being projected in negative roles in the media text, they adopt creative subversive practices of passing and transgressive mimicry, resisting full compliance with the production, without endangering their own position. By doing so, the article contributes not only to the emerging field of creative entrepreneurship in cultural production, but also enables determination of common practices of creative subversion in the cultural industries.

Living with heart failure (HF) means living with a chronic illness characterized by periods of acute decompensation alternating with periods of relative stability. Improved medical care for patients with cardiovascular diseases, coupled with the aging of the populations in the developed world, has resulted in a steadily increasing prevalence of HF. Rehospitalization rates are high for this patient population. In 20–64% of the cases, poor compliance by patients with the prescribed HF treatment is a contributing factor to hospitalization. This article uses a review of the literature on HF non-compliance, including the prevalence, barriers, consequences, and the long-term outcomes of non-compliance with HF therapy, to illustrate remaining issues and questions. Original studies published in English or German between 1966 and June 2004 identified by combining patient compliance, non-compliance, adherence, self-care, rehospitalization, patient education, and management programs, with heart failure in the search strategy are included. Creative approaches to achieving a true partnership between providers and patients are needed if clinical outcomes are to improve.

Current trends in the world economy determined the innovative vector of its development on fundamentally new bases: information and intellectual technologies, knowledge, and creativity. In modern conditions, enterprises and countries can increase their level of competitiveness through implementation policies supporting the creative activity of employees. The purposes of the article are to investigate the essence of creativity, the theoretical foundation of employee’s creative activity, its relation to art and methodological bases of employee’s creative activity evaluation taking into consideration the level of world economic development. Methodology. The theoretical and methodological frameworks of the study are research results of scientists in the field of employees’ creative activity investigation and own research proposals. In order to achieve the goal of the article, the following methods are used: generalization – in the critical analysis of scientific approaches to establishing the definition of employee’s creative activity; comparison – in the process of comparing creative activity and art; index method – to propose the methodology of employee’s creative activity assessment; systematization – to identify elements of the relative index of creative potential; cause and effect method – for obtaining final conclusions. Results. The creative activity of employees is an external manifestation of intellectual and cognitive abilities of a person, aimed at the changes in tangible, intangible or managerial objects, which are expressed in the generation of new ideas and their implementation in a practical result. It also manifests in the creation and application of innovations for the purpose of obtaining an economic or social effect. It is closely related to high intelligence, art, self-evaluation and motivation of the employee. The study also determines two main indexes of evaluation of the creative activity of employee – index of creative activity and relative index of creative activity. The relative index of creative activity includes such elements as choice rationality of the sphere of creative energy manifestation, biosocial indicator of creative energy, index of employee’s health, index of socio-psychological state of an employee, professional experience of employee, level of employee’s intelligence, and index of compliance the workplace with the standards. Practical implication. The proposed methodology of employee’s creative activity assessment can be applied at enterprises in order to evaluate its current level and to improve the efficiency of the remuneration system. It is also clarified that increasing the creative activity of employees will raise the efficiency of the system of enterprise’s creative management as a whole. Value/originality. The investigation underlines the peculiarities of employee’s creative activity from the psychological and economic points of view and describes the methodology of employee’s creative activity assessment, as well as evaluation efficiency of the system of an enterprise’s creative management. Further researches should be aimed at the improvement of motivation mechanism for employee’s creative activity encouraging as a tool for increasing competitiveness of enterprises.

It has been publicized that pregnant women exhibit an increase in clinical signs and symptoms during the pregnancy period. Nurses have an essential role to help pregnant women in handling their self-care as independently as possible. Health education is a foundation of nursing interventions in prenatal care. The compliance of pregnant women to health instructions will facilitate the nursing management in being systemic, holistic and creative for experiencing a positive pregnancy outcome. But, despite all the best intentions and efforts on the part of the healthcare professionals, these products might not be achievable if the women are non-compliant. Therefore, the aim of this study is to determine the factors that affect health education compliance among pregnant women. A descriptive research design was undertaken. By convenient sampling, 238 pregnant women were selected at out-patients units in El Shatiby University Hospital, Alexandria, Egypt. A Health Education Compliance Questionnaire (HECQ) was developed and used to collect the necessary data of the study. Based on the analysis of the subjects’ responses, the results revealed that there were promoting and inhibiting factors regarding health education compliance as perceived by pregnant women. First, in relation to themselves, the enhancing factors were physical and psychological conditions, self-cooperation, and relationship with the health staff, whereas, the inhibiting factors were concentration and understanding, acceptance, and trust. Second, as regards social and economic factors, the promoting factors were friends and relatives, family relationships, and marital age, while the hindering factors were monthly income, family size and transportation. Moreover, study subjects ranked the satisfactory topics that they received and adhered pregnancy follow up took the first position and dangerous signs were the next. In conclusion, compliance to health education among pregnant women is a major health concern affecting almost all women in El Shatiby University Hospital. There are a lot of factors that may promote or inhibit health education compliance among these women. The major recommendation is that nurses as health educators must facilitate the educational process for pregnant women, family and society. Efforts and collaboration between all nursing disciplines in the field of health education should be established. As this may be crucial to improve health education compliance within pregnancy or other maternal condition. Future studies need to investigate on how to minimize the inhibiting factors and support the promoting ones.

147 Background: Few would argue that proper hand hygiene (HH) is vital for preventing nosocomial infection, yet compliance rates remain low and capturing its data is difficult. Methods: A homegrown "design" methodology called Solution Session which combines creative problem solving, GE WorkOut and an accountability maturity model was used to define problems, formulate ideas to increase HH compliance. From the session five subteams (addressing Compliance, Patient Education, Staff Education, Process and Automation) were enlisted to develop a holistic set of solutions to address HH compliance. Infection Control paid special attention to developing custom observation plans for each unit. One of the solutions, a homegrown web-based observation collection system, was created to collect and report compliance by individual and department level. The system of solutions were piloted on a unit that was already doing well (with a baseline compliance of 92%) and two struggling high acuity units (with baseline compliance at 54% and 50%). Results: The pilot unit that was doing well to begin with has averaged HH compliance rate 99% for over a 15 month period (n=105/month). The two struggling units have averaged 84% and 80% respectively (n= 60/month and n=24/month) over the same period. The operating room is the next candidate in line to employ this system. Conclusions: 1) Solutions are best designed by those affected. 2) People respond to data.Weekly reportsdisplay number of observations taken, compliance down to the department and individual level: powerful tools to start the self correction process. 3) Compliance is a marathon, not a sprint.

Abstract The promotion of technological prowess in children at an early age is integral to their creative development and future success. This research studied the relationship between media management administration, innovation, and early childhood creative technology in schools under the Office of the Basic Education Commission in Thailand to validate and confirm the linear relationship between flexibility, motivation, imagination, use of new approaches to problem solving, and vision. Questionnaires from respondents showed that the consistency was between 0.60-1.00, with a reliability of 0.890. Data were analyzed using mean standard deviation, and linear structural analysis and compliance with empirical data was checked based on the harmony index which was then compared to applicable criteria. The major findings show that the composition is in line with the empirical data and demonstrated linear structural relationships between the components of media management administration, innovation and early childhood creative technology.

A package tool was created to help solve these problems. The package tool allows users to select criteria and view exception reports. Implementing this tool resulted in a dramatic increase in meeting customer requested shipping dates and decreased the amount of time spent developing order packages. Use of the tool also resulted in greater compliance with the business rules. Payback occurred in 3.69 months. This experience proves that creative thinking can result in BRP that pays.

Many companies in Russia, however, are “forced” to find “creative solutions” to avoid this quota. This attitude is caused not by the unwillingness of companies to support disabled people, but rather by their moral and technical unreadiness to do so. Using one example of a company providing freight services, the case illustrates this. The company is faced with additional challenges: it is a 100 percent subsidiary, dependant on its parent company in many respects – especially in financial matters.Expected learning outcomesStudents:learn some informal practices (legislative norms and networks) in the Russian business context;,discuss how organizations are faced with informal practices and establish problem solving techniques;andreceive some additional information on the business environment in Russia.Supplementary materialsTeaching notes.

ABSTRACTThis article introduces a special volume of Advances in Archaeological Practice dedicated to the interpretation and presentation of archaeology. It provides an overview of several essays that came out of a session at the European Association of Archaeology Conference in 2017, which focused upon how interpretation can be implemented within daily practices of (cultural resource management) archaeology in a way that provides heritage value. We bring the arguments together into a call for a creative, interpretive archaeology that does not take compliance or academic publications as its end goal but will speak to a far wider range of audiences through the development and presentation of stories and narratives that truly engage and inspire people. We argue that this can be achieved by implementing “emotion design” methods that dynamically differentiate between information, message, emotion, and media, by working closely together with creatives, interpretive experts, communities, and partners and, ultimately, by integrating interpretation firmly at the core of planning processes, archaeological workflows, and our daily practices.

Purpose – This paper aims to contribute to our understanding of the impact of regulation on management control practices. It explores the processes by which the institutionalised properties of certain management controls are adapted to organisational contexts and underpin organisational routines. The authors are interested in the voluntary adoption of management controls with highly developed institutional logics, how organisations respond initially to the institutional logics of new management controls and by what means those logics become a workable basis for institutionalising controls in the organisation. Design/methodology/approach – The paper explores some of the ways in which the institutional logics of management control come to have organisational effects, studying a seemingly simple organisational response to institutional processes: compliance. The argument is illustrated with examples from university accreditation as a management control institution that combines cultural and administrative controls. The paper is based on participant observation in three universities. Findings – The authors find that compliance requires considerable organisational meaning-making and that organisational work of compliance separates into adaptation and execution. Moreover, the process of compliance produces distinctions between experts of the accreditation logic, users of the accreditation logic, agnostics and sceptics. Rather than passive acquiescence, compliance with regulated management control is a creative process of arranging and translating general prescriptions for use in a specific context. Originality/value – This is the first study of university accreditation as a management control institution. It adds to a still emerging literature on the effects of institutional logics, and in particular regulatory logics, on organisational management control.

“Professionalism was basically a ton of petty shit, nothing ever to do with standing up for children in the face of harmful rules, curriculum, other teachers, administrators, etc. It was basically how to comply.” As the student quoted here makes clear, a “professional” teacher must learn to comply, even when doing so does harm to children. This article serves to disrupt the narrow and striated notions of professionalism promoted in many teacher education programs—notions that beg clarity on what is really believed about teaching, children, and what really matters. In school(ed) places, accepting—even welcoming—constraints and blinders that serve to sustain the broader injustices, inequities, and ignorance that infect society is common practice and is often shrouded in the cloak of professionalism. In examining the consequences of compliance disguised as professionalism, it becomes clear that what is necessary to reimagine school places is a nomadic and radical non-compliance. Radicalizing a teacher’s professional life requires deep inquiry, skepticism, integrity, and a nomad’s willingness to challenge and disrupt. Included in this article are examples of critique in the context of reimagining school spaces as spaces of joy, generosity, and justice; of creative maladjustments in the face of mundane mandates; and of the ways in which teachers can radically and nomadically non-comply in order smooth the striations of school(ed) spaces.

Abstract Although enhancing professionalism and ensuring compliance with duty hour regulations both represent important priorities of current graduate medical education, tension in reconciling these goals has been expressed. The term tyranny of the OR has been coined to express the assumption of dichotomous thinking, that is, that we assume we must choose between seemingly competing goals. In contrast, because there is powerful creative value in adopting a bridging mindset, an alternative state called the genius of the AND has been defined to express the benefits of reconciling perceived competing goals.

This paper discusses the findings of research exploring the conduct of portfolio-based performance appraisal within medicine. Portfolios are now used throughout medical school and junior doctor training, in later specialist training, as well as to support the implementation of annual NHS appraisal of doctors as part of their employment contract. They will also play a role in the new medical governance quality assurance process known as revalidation, when it is implemented in 2010. The paper discusses how the growth of portfolio-based performance appraisal within medicine is bound up with the growth of managerial systems of surveillance and control within western health care systems. Theoretically, it draws upon a Governmentality perspective to analyse doctor's accounts of the appraisal process. This views appraisal as an information panopticon that to better enable social control seeks to construct appraisees as calculable and administrable subjects. However, the paper highlights how the doctors interviewed used the tacit dimensions of their expertise to engage in creative game-playing toward appraisal, adopting a stance of paperwork compliance toward it. Paperwork compliance leaves a paper trail that makes it appear doctors have complied with the technical requirements of performance appraisal when in fact they have not. The paper concludes that current reforms to medical governance introduced to ensure the general public is protected from medical error and malpractice, provide sociologists with an invaluable opportunity to undertake a dedicated research program into the performance management of medical work.

Objective. To increase and sustain hospital-wide compliance with hand hygiene through a long-term ongoing multidimensional improvement program emphasizing behavioral factors.Design.Quasi-experimental short study (August 2000-November 2001) and descriptive time series (April 2003-December 2006).Setting.A 450-bed teaching tertiary-care hospital.Interventions.An initial intervention bundle was introduced in pilot locations that addressed cognitive behavioral factors, which included access to alcohol sanitizer, education, and ongoing audit and feedback. The bundle was subsequently disseminated hospital-wide, along with a novel approach focused on behavior modification through positive reinforcement and annually changing incentives.Results.A total of 36,123 hand hygiene opportunities involving all categories of healthcare workers from 12 inpatient units were observed from October 2000 to October 2006. The rate of compliance with hand hygiene significantly improved after the intervention in 2 cohorts over the first year (from 40% to 64% of opportunities and from 34% to 49% of opportunities;P< .001, compared with the control group). Mean compliance rates ranged from 19% to 41% of 4174 opportunities (at baseline), increased to the highest levels of 73%–84% of 6,420 opportunities 2 years after hospital-wide dissemination, and remained improved at 59%–81% of 4,990 opportunities during year 6 of the program.Conclusion.This interventional cohort study used a behavioral change approach and is one of the earliest and largest institution-wide programs promoting alcohol sanitizer from the United States that has shown significant and sustained improvements in hand hygiene compliance. This creative campaign used ongoing frequent audit and feedback with novel use of immediate positive reinforcement at an acceptable cost to the institution.

This article suggests that the work of Donald Winnicott and Christopher Bollas is essential in helping us re-vision the current dominant Kleinian and post-Kleinian model of contemporary couple psychoanalysis. It shows how their different understanding of the nature of creativity draws upon different conceptions of the creative couple and upon a radically different understanding of the relationship between the self and the unconscious. It suggests that their thinking on creativity and the unconscious is useful in our work with couples. It goes on to focus on the clinical and technical implications of these ideas in five areas: gesture; repetition; compliance; mood and emotional atmosphere; and the use of objects.
