FACILITY 47 is a psychological horror novel set in Germany just after the end of World War II. The novel is written in a naturalistic style that seeks to ground paranormal genre elements in a believable world. The story follows a group of Americans, led by Michael Powell, as they seek out and become trapped within an abandoned Nazi research facility in the Harz Mountains that contains a very dangerous secret; an unknown force capable of controlling people’s actions and forcing them to destroy themselves. FACILITY 47 focuses on a character driven by greed, moral outrage at dubious American postwar policy, and a desire to create a world for himself where he is in control. In the end of the novel, Michael learns that the obsessive quest for control can have catastrophic consequences, but this discovery is made too late to save himself or his friends from the mysterious power inside the facility.

Lokalvården på Malmö Universitet har därför en central roll i arbetet på Malmö Universitets Facility Service för att skapa en studiemiljö av hög kvalitet. I dagsläget utförs lokalvården av två olika lokalvårdsaktörer, varav den ena är en extern aktör och den andra är en del av Malmö Universitets organisation.Syftet med studien är att med utgångspunkt i rapporten Utvärdering av lokalvårdsorganisationen, undersöka eventuella skillnader mellan lokalvårdasktörerna på Malmö Universitet. Utvärderingen skall ses som en kvalitetsparameter och komplement till den utvärdering av skillnader i kostnader mellan de olika lokalvårdsaktörerna som finns i nämnda rapport.Studiens insamlade information grundar sig på en enkätundersökning och intervjuer med studenter i de fyra universitetsbyggnaderna Niagara, Gädda, Orkanen och Hälsa & Samhälle på Malmö Universitet. Resultatet av studien pekar på att lokalvården på Malmö Universitet uppfattas både som viktig för studenterna och att den idag håller en hög och jämn kvalitet. Studenterna misstar dock många av byggnadens och lokalernas tekniska kvaliteter som ålder och skick för den tekniska kvalitetet som levereras i lokalvården. The evaluation is to be seen as an quality parameter and complement to the existing evaluation of the difference in cost in contracting the two cleaningoperators in the report.The collected information from the study is based on a survey and interview with students in the four university buildings Niagara, Gäddan, Orkanen and Hälsa & Samhälle at Malmö University. The result in this study shows that the cleaning at the Malmö University premises is perceived as both important to the students and to be of an high and even quality today. However the students are mistaking many of the building qualities like age and condition for the technical quality of the performed cleaning that is performed. The small differences thatcan be noted is perceived quality of the cleaning relates to the condition and character of the building rather than the quality in performance of the cleaning operator. The perceived quality of the premises and the effect on study result thereby has a stronger connection between new and airy spaces rather than to higher cost for cleaning operation.

The natures of two contiguous worlds in a dramatic symbiosis inspire a singular expression for the two. The moving, highly energetic, brought to order through regulation; not abruptly, but sensitively, through dynamic forms and moving interactions. Land joins water and forms a critical edge that through the mechanism of change is never fully determined. A moving contour presents a foil to the more orderly, precise nature of man-made construction. A building manifests itself as a bridge that unites the realms of land and water. The orderly progression of structural piles assumes power against the backdrop of an unordered field. Suspended pathways traverse the field, uniting the realms and organizing the waterfront. It is the nature of connection: the union of two made possible by a third. Beyond the connection implied of two contiguous realms, a larger order poses its question. What is the sense of belonging; the intimate connection; belonging to and of this place? Validation extends from referencing the immediate site and surrounding area. Perceived and associative images, as well as indigenous forces inform the design and help determine the forms and manner of execution. The exigencies of the site provide the framework for expression. From the Poetics of Gardens: "Sometimes the most poignant qualities of site come not from what is actually there but from what is connected to it through time and space, by our recollections and hopes." An Oceanographic Research Facility, derived from forces and forms indigenous to the coastal milieu, emerges as a platform to experience Land and Sea and by definition, unified: joined in a common sense or relationship.<br>Master of Architecture

La localisation de sites est une des décisions stratégiques les plus importantes pour les entreprises dans le contexte de la mondialisation d'aujourd'hui. Les travaux existant dans la littérature traitant ce type de problèmes se concentrent principalement sur la détermination de l'emplacement des sites et des flux de produits provenant les sites localisés aux clients dans le but de minimiser le coût total de construction, de production et logistiques. Cependant, il est très important de bien choisir simultanément la capacité et la localisation des sites parce que la taille des sites a une grande influence sur ces coûts sur le long terme. La détermination de la location et de capacité des sites reste encore un problème ouvert.Dans cette thèse, nous étudions trois nouvelles variantes de problèmes de location de sites à deux échelons avec la sélection de taille (TECFLP). Les deux premières parties concentrent sur les TECFLPs avec sélection séparée de taille d’usines ou de dépôts. La troisième partie étudie le TECFLP avec sélection simultanée des tailles d’usines et de dépôts. Pour ces problèmes, trois modèles de programmation linéaire mixte sont proposés. Ensuite les approches basées sur la relaxation lagrangienne selon les caractéristiques de chaque problème sont développés. Pour améliorer les meilleures solutions proposées par les approches de relaxation lagrangienne, une méthode de recherche tabou, une méthode hybride de recherche tabou et à voisinage variable, une méthode hybride du recuit simulé et de la recherche tabou sont respectivement adaptées pour ces trois problèmes. Les algorithmes développés sont testés et évalués à travers 810 instances générées aléatoirement. Les résultats numériques montrent que nos méthodes sont capables de fournir des solutions de qualité avec un temps de calcul raisonnable<br>Facility location is one of the most important strategic decisions for firms in globalization. Previous works on facility location in the literature mainly focus on determining the locations of facilities and the flows of products from facilities to customers with the goal of minimizing the sum of facility opening costs, production and logistic costs. However, it’s very important to determine at the same time the appropriate sizes for these facilities because they greatly affects these costs on the long term. Determining facility location and size is always an open problem.In this thesis, we study three new two-echelon capacitated facility location problems (TECFLP) with facility size selection. The two first parts of the wok focus on two-echelon facility location problems with plant and depot size selection, respectively. The third part concentrates on TECFLP considering simultaneously plant and depot size selection. For these problems, three corresponding mixed integer programming models are formulated and then Lagrangean relaxation approaches according to the problems’ characteristics are developed. To further improve the best solutions obtained by the Lagrangean Relaxation approaches, a tabu search, a hybrid variable neighborhood tabu search and a hybrid simulated annealing tabu search are adapted for the three problems respectively. The developed algorithms are tested and evaluated through 810 randomly generated instances. Computational results show ours algorithms can provide high quality solutions within a reasonable computation time

Department of Defense or the U.S. Government.<br>Determining the best base stationing for military units can be modeled as a capacitated facility location problem with sole sourcing
and multiple resource categories. Computational experience suggests that cross decomposition, a unification of Benders Decomposition
and Lagrangean relaxation, is superior to other contemporary methods for solving capacitated facility location problems. Recent research
extends cross decomposition to pure integer prograrnming problems with explicit application to capacitated facility location problems with
sole sourcing; however, this research offers no computational experience. This thesis implements two cross decomposition algorithms
for the capacitated facility location problem with sole sourcing and compares these decomposition algorithms with branch and bound
methods. For some problems tested, cross decomposition obtains better solutions in less time; however, cross decomposition does not
always perform better man branch and bound due to the time required to obtain the cross decomposition bound that is theoretically superior
to other decomposition bounds.

International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 26-29, 1987 / Town and Country Hotel, San Diego, California<br>The growing complexity of space science missions is causing a dramatic increase in the data rates and volumes from spaced-based experiments, and the ground operations functions associated with handling data from these missions are growing in complexity consistent with this increase. A key requirement on the systems that provide data handling support is to control operations costs carefully while providing high-quality data capture functions. One approach to meeting this particular objective that has been taken at the Goddard Space Flight Center has been to initiate the development of a Generic Data Capture Facility (GDCF) that can provide data capture support for a variety of different types of spacecraft. The GDCF is emerging through a blend of new system development and evolution of existing systems, and when complete, it will have the capability to support the two major data formatting schemes (packet and Time-Division Multiplexed (TDM)). The specific implementations are designed to support the Gamma Ray Observatory and the Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite, but the GDCF will provide the baseline system to support various new missions as they emerge.

The Instrumentation & Control Facility provides an environment for Murdoch University engineering students to learn scientific knowledge and technological skills so they can monitor and improve computer based engineering systems. The students will have the opportunity to explore technologies for controlling a range of industrial processes such as programmable logic controllers (PLC) and supervisory control and data acquisition (SCADA).
The purpose of this thesis project is to improve the operation of the Instrumentation & Control Facility through the following goals. The first goal was to include 2 new workstations. The second goal was to implement a more structured Master I/O Server. The third goal was to improve the online webpages which are used by the students in the facility. The fourth goal was to improve the error messages that pop-up within the Experimental Template program. The fifth goal was to implement a fieldbus where Profibus sensors were introduced through the implementation of a Profibus network. When completed, students that are using the Instrumentation & Control Facility will have the opportunity to learn more about Profibus networks and will be able to conduct experiments that utilize the Profibus sensors. All of these goals will enable students to more easily set up experiments when problem solve when these experiments do not work.
One of the upgrades to the Instrumentation & Control Facility Project is to introduce two new water tanks that use a Profibus network, which will replace the conventional 4-20mA transmitters. The major difference between these tanks and the previous tanks is the method of measuring the level of water. The new tanks use a differential pressure measurement device. These devices must first be calibrated before they are installed. The purpose of introducing the Profibus Network is to allow students to learn about the functionality of these Fieldbus networks. The knowledge gained by the students using the facility will help them become fully qualified Instrumentation & Control engineers in industry.
The thesis project is divided into 3 phases: the Design phase, the Implementation phase, the Testing and Commissioning phase. The Design phase focuses on generation of up-to-date wiring diagrams, creating questionnaires and listing items of hardware nature. Manuals for Profibus PA, Profibus DP, DP/PA coupler and other components that were used were reviewed as part of the Literature Review to gain understanding and familiarise with the components and the tasks at hand. In the Implementation phase, assembly of the components plus setting up the 2 new workstations and assembly of the components plus setting up the Profibus network were carried out. In addition, the Master I/O Server was modified to allow connection via the the INAT OPC server of the Profibus PLC to the Master I/O Server.
Extension of the work is also discussed in this thesis. This includes the development of a Profibus PLC program for the software. Also discussed is the fact that the structure of the Master I/O Server and Experimental Template require modification to more easily read and change the program.

The term Facility Management describes one part of business management with the goal of supporting the management activities through the delivery of infrastructure, technology and services. It covers the whole life cycle of a structural facility. An integration of facility management in the active processes of an enterprise or an enterprise group will be substantially supported by the introduction of an efficient, flexible and future-safe computer aided facility management system. But still no universal standards were established in this area. With high expenditure adapted single solutions are the rule, harm however the demand for a save investment independently of proprietary special solutions of individual manufacturers. An analysis of existing business standards shows that these solutions are suitable only partly for combining the existing isolated solutions in a virtual enterprise group in order to create a sustainable architectural approach for a process oriented facility management. In doing so the communication must not be reduced to pure data exchange, but only stable interface definitions and accurately specified document formats can lead to a continuous solution. In order to make these solutions for developers and end users in the phases of the design, the implementation and maintenance equally clear, a common vocabulary of concepts is necessary. The usage of the Unified Modeling Language gives thereby a promising basis. The concrete models with the contained types and their relations to each other are described over meta models. The usage of XML as means to data exchange between the individual components and for the description of the meta models guarantees a flexible and future-safe development basis. In the context of the work based on use cases the conception for a framework with core components for process oriented facility management in distributed environments is designed. The framework Simplix conceived by the author integrates meta models for the description of concrete data, workflow and access schemes. The designed modules are embedded into a component-based architecture, in order to obtain a greatest possible flexibility for the deployment in heterogeneous IT environments. The framework Simplix covers four core components. The SchemaService describes the concrete product models, the associated processes are represented by the WorkflowService. The realization of the access rules is realized by the SecurityService. The exchange of workflow messages with the encapsulated project data is done by the ExchangeService in XML. The presented design focuses on the integration of existing business and IT standards. Eine Einbettung von Facility Management in die laufenden Prozesse eines Unternehmens oder eines Unternehmensverbundes wird durch die Einführung eines leistungsfähigen, flexiblen und zukunftssicheren Computer Aided Facility Management Systems wesentlich unterstützt. Allerdings haben sich auf diesem Gebiet noch keine durchgängigen Standards etabliert, mit hohem Aufwand angepaßte Einzellösungen sind die Regel, verletzen aber die Forderung nach Investitionssicherheit unabhängig von den proprietären Speziallösungen einzelner Hersteller. Eine Analyse vorhandener Geschäftsstandards zeigt, daß diese Ansätze nur teilweise dazu geeignet sind, die vorhandenen Insellösungen in einem virtuellen Unternehmensverbund miteinander zu kombinieren, um einen tragfähigen Architekturansatz für ein prozeßorientiertes Facility Management zu schaffen. Dabei darf die Kommunikation nicht auf den reinen Datenaustausch reduziert werden, sondern nur stabile Schnittstellendefinitionen und exakt spezifizierte Dokumentenformate können zu einer durchgehenden Lösung führen. Die konkreten Modelle mit den enthaltenen Typen und deren Beziehungen zueinander werden über Metamodelle beschrieben. Der Einsatz von XML als Mittel zum Datenaustausch zwischen den einzelnen Komponenten und zur Beschreibung der Metamodelle garantiert eine flexible und zukunftssichere Entwicklungsgrundlage. Im Rahmen der Arbeit wird auf der Basis von Anwendungsfällen die Konzeption für ein Framework mit Kernkomponenten zum prozeßorientierten Facility Management in verteilten Umgebungen entworfen. Das vom Autor konzipierte Framework Simplix integriert Metamodelle zur Beschreibung konkreter Daten-, Workflow- und Zugriffsschemata. Die dazu geplanten Module werden in eine komponentenbasierte Architektur eingebettet, um eine größtmögliche Flexibilität beim Einsatz in heterogenen IT-Umgebungen zu erzielen. Das Framework Simplix umfaßt vier Kernkomponenten. Der SchemaService beschreibt die konkreten Produktmodelle, die zugehörigen Prozesse werden über den WorkflowService abgebildet. Die Realisierung der Mechanismen zur Zugriffskontrolle werden vom SecurityService übernommen. Der Austausch von Workflow-Nachrichten mit den gekapselten Projektdaten erfolgt über den ExchangeService in XML. Der vorgestellte Ansatz setzt auf die Integration vorhandener Geschäfts- und IT-Standards. The Architecture, Engineering, Construction, and Operations (AECO) industry is constantly searching for new methods for increasing efficiency and productivity. Facility managers, as a part of the owner/operator role, work in complex and dynamic environments where critical decisions are constantly made. This decision-making process and its consequent performance can be improved by enhancing Situation Awareness (SA) of the facility managers through new digital technologies. SA, as a user-centered approach for understanding facility managers’ information requirement, together with Mobile Augmented Reality (MAR) was used for developing an Ambient Intelligent (AmI) environment for accessing building information in facilities. Augmented Reality has been considered as a viable option to reduce inefficiencies of data overload by providing facility managers with an SA-based tool for visualizing their “real-world” environment with added interactive data. Moreover, Building Information Modeling (BIM) was used as the data repository of the required building information. A pilot study was done to study the integration between SA, MAR, and BIM. InfoSPOT (Information Surveyed Point for Observation and Tracking) was developed as a low-cost solution that leverage current AR technology, showing that it is possible to take an idealized BIM model and integrate its data and 3D information in an MAR environment. A within-subjects user participation experiment and analysis was also conducted to evaluate the usability of the InfoSPOT in facility management related practices. The outcome of statistical analysis (a one-way repeated measure ANOVA) revealed that on average the mobile AR-based environment was relatively seamless and efficient for all participants in the study. Building on the InfoSPOT pilot study, an in-depth research was conducted in the area of healthcare facility management, integrating SA, MAR, and BIM to develop an AmI environment where facility mangers’ information requirement would be superimposed on their real-word view of the facility they maintain and would be interactively accessible through current mobile handheld technology. This AmI environment was compared to the traditional approach of conducting preventive and corrective maintenance using paper-based forms. The purpose of this part of the research was to investigate the hypothesis of “bringing 3D BIM models of building components in an AR environment and making it accessible through handheld mobile devices would help the facility managers to locate those components easier and faster compared to facility managers’ paper-based approach”. The result of this study shows that this innovative application of AR and integrating it with BIM to enhance the SA has the potential to improve construction practices, and in this case, facility management.

In this thesis, we study the dynamic facility location problem with mobile customers considering the permanent facilities. Our general aim is to locate facilities considering the movements of customers in time. The problem is studied for three objectives: P-median, P-center and MINMAX P-median. We show that dynamic facility location problem is a large instance of a static facility location problem for P-median and P-center objectives.
In the problem, we represent the movements of each customer in time with a time series. Using clustering approaches, we develop a heuristic approach for the problem with P-median objective. K-means algorithm is used as a clustering algorithm and dynamic time warping is used in order to define similarities between the customer time series. Solution method is tested on several experimental settings. We obtain results, which differ at most 2% from the optimal, in small computation times.
Generally, in the literature, MINMAX P-median is solved with a heuristic depending on scenarios planning (see Serra and Marianov, 1998). The heuristic finds an initial solution according to scenarios, later the initial solution is tried to be improved.
We provide a bounding procedure on the solution of the problem. The bounds can be used by decision maker to judge the solution quality before proceed. The bounding procedure is also analyzed in different experimental settings.

Most new mothers deliver in a hospital setting where they are discharged after approximately two days. A software system has been developed that monitors and interprets temporally changing (internal) building environments and generates related knowledge that can assist in facility management (FM) decision making. The use of the multi agent paradigm renders a system that delivers demonstrable rationality and is robust within the dynamic environment that it operates. Agent behaviour directed at working toward goals is rendered intelligent with semantic web technologies. The capture of semantics though formal expression to model the environment, adds a richness that the agents exploit to intelligently determine behaviours to satisfy goals that are flexible and adaptable. The agent goals are to generate knowledge about building space usage as well as environmental conditions by elaborating and combining near real time sensor data and information from conventional building models. Additionally further inferences are facilitated including those about wasted resources such as unnecessary lighting and heating for example. In contrast, current FM tools, lacking automatic synchronisation with the domain and rich semantic modelling, are limited to the simpler querying of manually maintained models.

International Telemetering Conference Proceedings / October 13-16, 1986 / Riviera Hotel, Las Vegas, Nevada<br>This paper presents an architectural overview of the Air Force Satellite Control Facility (AFSCF) with emphasis on the on-going development effort of the AF Satellite Control Network (AFSCN). The AFSCF originated twenty-seven years ago, and has evolved into a global satellite service network. This worldwide network is composed of twelve RTSs, located at seven geographically dispersed locations, and a Satellite Test Center (STC) at Sunnyvale, California. The AFSCF provides real-time telemetry, tracking, and commanding (TT&C) service to Department of Defense (DoD) spacecraft and launch vehicles.
To cope with the projected operational workload and to reduce life cycle costs, the AFSCF began a major effort several years ago to modernize the Network. The two programs, (Data Systems Modernization and Automated Remote Tracking Station) in this effort will bring about major changes in the Network’s current configuration and operations concept. Another program, the development of the Consolidated Space Operations Center (CSOC), also introduces major changes to the network architecture. Additionally the formation of the USAF Space Command has profound impacts on the AFSCN and its development effort.
With these changes, brought about in response to changing DoD space support requirements, the AFSCF network has grown through expansion and modernization of its tracking, data processing, and communication capabilities. This paper discusses the past, the present, and the impending changes to the AFSCN as it continues to evolve in support of the DoD space programs.

At last, I do not know how, I found it, together with a large number of curious and new considerations concerning the theory of probability. Andre Marie Ampere. Facility location problems (or plant location problems) are general models that can be used when a set of clients has to be served by facilities. More precisely, we are given a set of potential facility locations and a set of clients. The optimization problem is to select a subset of the locations at which to place facilities and then to assign clients to theses facilities so as to minimize total cost. Most formulations considered in this thesis can be viewed as general models that can be applied to a wide range of context and practical situations. However, as this research has been partly initiated by the interest of the author in telecommunication network design we will introduce these models by considering problems in this particular area. In the context of telecommunication network design an application of discrete location theory is the optimization of access networks with concentrators. Typically, we have a number of terminal points that must be connected to a service point. An obvious solution is to use a dedicated link for each terminal (star network). However, it is clear that this solution can be very expensive when the number of terminals is large and when they are far from the service point. Access networks are often constructed by inserting concentrators between the terminals and the service point. Many terminals are connected to a facility which in turn is connected by a single link to the service point. The objective is to build a network that will provide the service at minimum cost. If no extra constraints are involved the mmimum cost network problem can be expressed as an uncapacitated facility location problem (UFL). If the number of terminals that can be connected to a concentrator is limited we obtain a so-called capacitated facility location problem (CFL). CFL can be extended to consider various types of concentrators with various capacities. This problem is the multi-capacitated facility location problem (MCFL). MCFL is a straightforward model for low speed packet switched data networks typical among which are networks connecting sellingpoint terminals to a database. For other networks, the problem may involve various traffic constraints. In chapter 1 we present those problems and compare solutions obtained by Lagrangian relaxation and simulated annealing algorithms. The architecture mentioned above can be extended with more than one hierarchical level of concentrator. Unfortunately, we pay for this cost saving through a decrease of reliability. Therefore, the number of levels is often limited to one or two. In chapter 2 we study an extension of UFL and CFL to two levels of concentrators. Obviously, the structure of a network changes according to the way requirements vary with time. In order to plan investments and to develop strategies, the evolution of a network has to be determined for several years ahead (typically four or five years). In this case the main questions to answer are: Where and when to establish concentrators and of what size? In chapter 3 we study this problem for the dynamic version of UFL. Now, with the network optimization problem, there naturally arises the problem of allocating the total minimum cost among customers fairly. Namely, we would like to allocate the cost in such a way that no subgroup of users would have incentive to withdraw and build their own network. The standard way to approach such a problem is by the means of cooperative game theory. In chapter 4 we study the core of location games derived from UFL and CFL, and in chapter 5 we propose methods to compute the nucleolus of these games.

The term Facility Management describes one part of business management with the goal of supporting the management activities through the delivery of infrastructure, technology and services. It covers the whole life cycle of a structural facility. An integration of facility management in the active processes of an enterprise or an enterprise group will be substantially supported by the introduction of an efficient, flexible and future-safe computer aided facility management system. But still no universal standards were established in this area. With high expenditure adapted single solutions are the rule, harm however the demand for a save investment independently of proprietary special solutions of individual manufacturers. An analysis of existing business standards shows that these solutions are suitable only partly for combining the existing isolated solutions in a virtual enterprise group in order to create a sustainable architectural approach for a process oriented facility management. In doing so the communication must not be reduced to pure data exchange, but only stable interface definitions and accurately specified document formats can lead to a continuous solution. In order to make these solutions for developers and end users in the phases of the design, the implementation and maintenance equally clear, a common vocabulary of concepts is necessary. The usage of the Unified Modeling Language gives thereby a promising basis. The concrete models with the contained types and their relations to each other are described over meta models. The usage of XML as means to data exchange between the individual components and for the description of the meta models guarantees a flexible and future-safe development basis. In the context of the work based on use cases the conception for a framework with core components for process oriented facility management in distributed environments is designed. The framework Simplix conceived by the author integrates meta models for the description of concrete data, workflow and access schemes. The designed modules are embedded into a component-based architecture, in order to obtain a greatest possible flexibility for the deployment in heterogeneous IT environments. The framework Simplix covers four core components. The SchemaService describes the concrete product models, the associated processes are represented by the WorkflowService. This dissertation examines school renovation and student achievement. The study focuses on the relationship between a complete renovation of a school facility and its influence on student achievement before, during, and after the renovation process. This is a replication study of previous research, Mayo (2012), which focused on middle schools in the Commonwealth of Virginia that were identified as a complete renovation project during the years of 2004-2010. This study utilized the procedures and the descriptive research methodology established in the Mayo (2012) study. Which allowed for the same three demographic variables (minority, socioeconomic, and teacher quality) to be addressed. The only modification made was the selection of a new grade level (K-5) focusing on elementary schools. The research question posed in this study, Does the complete renovation process, which includes structural, plumbing, electrical, and heating and air conditioning changes of a school building, influence student achievement?
Out of 514 school construction projects listed by the Virginia Department of Education during 2004-2010, 89 were classified as renovation projects. Out of the 89, only 39 met the criteria of elementary schools servicing fifth grade students. The 39 elementary schools were then further reviewed, and 15 met the criteria of fulfilling the four components of a complete renovation; structural, plumbing, electrical, and heating/air conditioning. The findings of the 15 schools identified as being a complete renovation showed no statistical significance between the variables and were not statistically significant when comparing the fifth grade mathematics and reading student performance to each stage of the renovation process.<br>Ed. The Instrumentation and Control (IC) laboratory facility uses a Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition system to provide users with the flexibility in designing and implementation of control systems. A new panel is being built and setup due to the growing demand of the IC laboratory facility; the Labview server program must also be expanded to fulfil for this upgrade. Additionally the current Labview server program has several problems within the system and requires some improvement to help student users to use it effectively. The I/O Control board within the new panel provides the necessary connections between the server and the field, as well as controlling the power board. This I/O control board has been configured and will be prepared for the wiring into the patch panel. The patch panel which is connected to both the I/O control board and the power board provides the necessary connections and power to the instruments in the field. The power board is currently being constructed within this project and required a new and clearer wiring diagram to help with the construction of the power board. With the help of the new wiring diagram, the reduction of wiring mistakes and failures provided safety for both the constructor and future users. With the introduction of the new panel, a Profibus network has also been introduced to the IC laboratory facility. The Profibus network provides a demonstration of alternative industrial communication system. Contrast to the established system it has a faster transmission rate, less wiring and intrinsic safety.

The Photovoltaic Array Troubleshooting and Educational Facility is a specialised experimentation platform for researchers and students to develop a greater practical understanding of photovoltaic modules, arrays, shading effects and fault scenarios. The Facility was designed, constructed, tested, and delivered to Murdoch University in order to complete the requirements of an undergraduate engineering honours thesis.
Proposed learning experiments involved the investigation of series, parallel, and bypass diode connections of or within photovoltaic modules, partial shading and mismatch effects, as well as the effectiveness of over-current protection under different fault conditions in an extra low voltage array. The Facility provides for the safe measurement of voltages and currents of individual module or array sections of the interconnected array using handheld multimeters and portable IV curve tracers.
Research was conducted on background photovoltaic system theory, module construction and array design, followed by an in-depth examination of the relevant legal regulations applicable to this project. This research was followed by a basic feasibility analysis, used to determine the practicability of this project as a means to satisfy the client requirements, given the technical, operational, economic and scheduling opportunities available for application. Once feasibility was demonstrated the Facility could be designed in detail using software tools, with components specified, sourced, financed and ordered. Upon arrival of the build components the Facility was constructed using industry-standard tools and methods, and tested for module performance and student-level experiment suitability.
The Photovoltaic Array Troubleshooting and Educational Facility project was a complete success. Many new experiments are now available to students, particularly dealing with photovoltaic fault scenarios. Almost all existing d.c. photovoltaic experiments from the Murdoch University Renewable Energy Engineering major can now be conducted in greater detail, on a full array of modules, while exposing students to industry standard components and techniques. The Facility is also available for open days and promotions, and shall be used to attract new students to the industry, the school, and generate a greater enthusiasm for solar power generation.

The digital reality is within this current moment debated and something that affects people. Upcoming years in real estate in general, it will be crucial of developments within the industry concerning digital solutions. The processes, business and approaches that have affected an industry for a very long time are changing in its foundations. Owning a property or managing an object in the coming years in an increasingly digitized world will bring new types of demands on organizations that intend to participate in the development. For a long time, digitization has existed as a concept seeming exciting and interesting. Smart devices have taken a larger part of time through telephones, televisions and likewise. Banking processes have evolved through phones and other digital tools to provide new variations of banking services. Airports have developed digital check-in services, which mean that you are actually virtually on the plane before you arrive at the airport. The development of these banking and tourism services changes the market and companies have been able to take part of the market by providing new solutions. In development and innovation, there is a term used repeatedly, the idea of a “disruptive innovation”. More explicitly, a new innovation that destroys the previously functioning market. As a concrete example, the previously well-functioning camera - today largely exchanged for the digital camera. Or the previously mentioned development of banks and flight processes. It has previously been functioning markets, however, these new processes and innovations have eliminated earlier working solutions by performing better. The study investigates possibilities closer if there are potential "disruptive innovations" in facility management and digital key control. The thesis has been focusing on the consequences of digital keys by using a model to analyse the impact on work in a future process. The physical key is one of the most ancient innovations that have been refined and developed over the centuries. With the new digital reality, it may be possible to find a new process that create better functions.<br>Kommande år i fastighetsförvaltning i allmänhet kommer det att vara avgörande för utvecklingen inom industrin med digitala lösningar. De processer, affärer och tillvägagångssätt som har påverkat en bransch under en mycket lång tid är på väg att förändras i grunden. Äga en fastighet eller förvalta ett objekt de närmaste åren i en alltmer digitaliserad värld kommer att medföra nya typer av krav på organisationer som avser att delta i utvecklingen och vara aktuell på marknaden. Under lång tid har digitalisering funnits som ett koncept som synes spännande och intressant. Smarta enheter har tagit en större del av tiden via telefoner, tv-apparater och liknande. Bankprocesser har utvecklats genom telefoner och andra digitala verktyg för att ge nya variationer av banktjänster. Flygplatser har utvecklat digitala incheckningstjänster, vilket innebär att du faktiskt är på planet innan du kommer till flygplatsen. Utvecklingen av dessa bank- och turismtjänster förändrar marknaden och företagen har kunnat ta del av marknaden genom att erbjuda nya lösningar. Inom utveckling och innovation finns det ett begrepp vilket används återkommande, en idé om en ”disruptive innovation”. Mer explicit, att en ny innovation förstör den tidigare fungerande marknaden, där det konkreta exemplet är den tidigare väl fungerande kameran vilken idag i stor omfattning är utbytt till den digitala kameran. Eller den tidigare nämnda utvecklingen av bank och flygprocesser. Det har tidigare varit fungerande marknader, dock har nya processer och innovationer slagit ut tidigare fungerande lösningar. I det här arbetet har möjligheterna undersökts närmre ifall det går att finna potentiella ”disruptive innovations” inom fastighetsförvaltning. Den fysiska nyckeln är en utav de mest antika innovationerna som genom årtusenden och århundranden har förfinats och utvecklats. Med den nya digitala verkligheten kan det vara möjligt att finna en ny process vilken fungerar på ett bättre sätt.
