Resumo:

This article examines the influence of national identity on coverage of human rights and international law. Based on a content analysis of New York Times, Washington Post, and USA Today’s coverage of torture at Abu Ghraib and the Obama administration’s expansion of drone warfare, it is argued that the news media largely protects the American identity by ignoring or marginalizing considerations of human rights and international law, despite these issues being central to the events. This research posits that the news media adheres to the Dan Rather Maxim named after long-time CBS news anchor, Dan Rather, who noted that in times of conflict the press tends to ‘follow the flag’. In other words, national identity informs and ultimately skews coverage of conflicts. This article adds to the existing scholarship on social and national identity biases in the news by giving primacy to international law and human rights frames during controversial periods. The content analysis finds that the actions of US political actors and institutions do not receive ample treatment when viewed through the lens of human rights and international humanitarian law.

Abstract The purpose of this article is to analyse British media coverage of the Brazilian dictatorship. Specifically, we examine coverage by the weekly news magazine The Economist in the period from the promulgation of Institutional Act 5 in December 1968, to 1975, the second year of the Geisel administration. We compare its coverage with that of The Times and The Guardian in order to reach an understanding of its portrayal of Brazil in terms of two themes in particular: economic performance (notably the ‘Brazilian miracle’), and political repression. We relate the latter theme to the international condemnations of torture, and the disappearance of political prisoners. Furthermore, given that The Economist mainly covers issues from an economic perspective, we examine shifts in the frequency and content of articles about Brazil, and conclude that The Economist’s portrayal of Brazil in the period under review deviated from that of much of the rest of the British Press.

Investigative journalist and human rights activist, Danny Schechter, has produced a sympathetic portrait of falun gong and its enigmatic founder, Li Hongzhi, “in the hope that it will encourage more interest and support for falun gong's right to exist and to practise its beliefs openly” (p. 1). The first part of the reader involves a report on the persecution of falun gong practitioners inside mainland China, and castigates the press for its inadequate coverage of the crackdown.

Resumo:

The application of the presumption of innocence in the press has long been a subject of attention and debate, both within the legal community and among journalists themselves. However, until now, the debate has not reached a consensus. Debates have started to arise regarding how the provisions in the Constitution (1945 Constitution) should be interpreted regarding applying the presumption of innocence in the press field. The debate continues to the level of analyzing how the legal regulations on the presumption of innocence should be applied in the field of press, and even the technical implementation in reporting. This paper utilizes normative legal research with a descriptive-analytical approach. Secondary data is sourced from legal regulations in the field of the press. Through qualitative analysis, the research yields the following results: Firstly, the presumption of innocence is incorporated into the Journalistic Code of Ethics with the hope that mass media, in their reporting, will not fall into the trap of "trial by the press," which involves reporting that tends to "judge" someone, violating the principles of a fair trial. Reporting that tends to express opinions on the guilt of a suspect not only violates the fundamental principles of the rule of law, namely judicial independence but also infringes upon an individual's human rights by diminishing their right to a legal defense.

Resumo:

The article is devoted to media coverage of human rights protection, namely the problems and prospects for the development of human rights journalism in Ukraine. Human protection, adherence to the fundamental principles enshrined in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and the Basic Law of Ukraine are the basis of freedom, justice and universal peace. Violation by the media of a wide range of media — from human integration and development in society to sensitive conflict issues, voices of people with disabilities, the elderly, vulnerable groups, etc. — shows adherence to democratic principles of statehood, humanism and freedom of speech. Advocacy or advocacy journalism is participatory journalism, and the journalist is a direct participant who seeks to protect those who find themselves in a difficult situation by changing the situation itself, resolving the conflict, andexpressing one’s own opinion. Today, with the intensification of social processes in society, socio-economic and environmental conflicts, emphasis should be placed on personal (civil, political, economic, social, cultural and environmental) rights and freedoms that ensure the right of everyone to a safe life, health, free access to information, the right to the state of the environment, the quality of food and household items, etc. For the development of human rights journalism, it would be appropriate to increase the number and quality of publications in the media, which cover the problems of all vulnerable groups (children, adolescents, people with disabilities, prisoners, women / men, gender, etc.), use correct terminology in accordance with human rights), the balance of authenticity and judgments from the facts is observed (the standard of separation of facts), the avoidance of hate speech, the materials of one’s own analysis prevail (without reprinting official press releases of the authorities). This study aims to increase the sensitivity of the media to socially vulnerable groups and the protection of human rights. One of the solutions to the problem is to highlight the problems and prospects for the development of human rights journalism in Ukraine. Strengthening the media to the standard of reliability through quality work with sources of information, the use of correct terminology and improving the performance of their own journalistic materials and is the most important in the development of human rights journalism.

For more than 140 years, religious, medical, legislative, and legal institutions have contested the issue of contraception. In this conversation, predominantly male voices have attached reproductive rights to tangential moral and political matters, revealing an ongoing, systematic attempt to regulate human bodies, especially those of women. This analysis of 1873-2013 press coverage of contraception in the New York Times, the Los Angeles Times, and the Chicago Tribune shows a division between institutional ideology and real-life experience; women’s reproductive rights are negotiable. Although journalists often reported that contraception was a factor in the everyday life of women and men, press accounts also showed religious, medical, legislative, and legal institutions debating whether it should be. Contraception originally was predominately viewed as a practice of prostitutes (despite evidence to the contrary) but became a part of everyday life. The battle has slowly evolved into one about the Affordable Care Act, religious freedom, morality, and employer rights. What did not significantly change over the 140-year period are larger cultural and ideological structures; these continue to be dominated by men, who retain power over women’s bodies.

The study," Comparative Editorial Analysis of Pakistan - India Relations with Reference to Kashmir Issue during PML N and PTI Regimes in Pakistani Press" investigated the editorial coverage of prominent Pakistani English and Urdu newspapers from February,18,2016, to February,17,2021. Focusing on the Kashmir issue, a central bone of contention between Pakistan and India, the researcher explored how newspapers framed this issue and it's relationship with foreign policy and media. The selected news papers for analysis were Daily Dawn, Express tribune (English), Daily Jang and Daily Duniya (Urdu). Utilizing theoretical frameworks of Agenda Setting and Framing, the study categorised editorials into favourable, unfavourable and neural perspectives. Employing a non random convenient sampling technique. The study analysed daily editorial coverage on Kashmir during the specified period. The findings indicated a consistent framing pattern across all newspapers, addressing topics such as the right of self determination, human rights violations, political victimisation and legislative actions in IoK. Notably, Urdu newspapers alloted more space to the Kashmir conflict compared to English newspapers aligning their narratives with respective governments and national sentiments. Overall, the study provides the insights into how media outlets in Pakistan shape public discourse on Kashmir issue within the broader context of Pakistan - India relations. This paper interrogated the Western media perception regarding Pakistani society, culture, image and media. It was the developing concern of Western electronic and print media to discuss the various issues related to Pakistan and mainly politics, international relations, society and culture were stressed upon. The present study explored the coverage of American and British press (the Telegraph, the Guardian, the New York Times & the Washington Post) regarding Pakistan. For this reason, the data got from the following newspapers the Telegraph, the Guardian, the New York Times & the Washington Post for the three specific months. The findings revealed that overall negative impression was found in American and British newspapers regarding Pakistani society, culture and media. Pakistani culture was attributed with patriarchal, male chauvinistic with blend of conservative’s tribal norms; extremism, rigidity, violent behavior and religious fanaticism. Women were shown as living in shabby conditions and they were deprived of their fundamental rights. The issues of crime against women, especially in the countryside about domestic violence, acid burning, and abused rape were highlighted. However, softer tone was depicted for pro-Western, liberals’ individuals, NGOs and other elements as compared to the right-wing groups which received more negative frames. Overall the negative issues related to natural disasters, over population, corruption, mismanagement, poor human rights, pervasiveness of conservative’s rightwing groups, and insecurity for journalists dominated the coverage.

This article examines the relationship between Australian press coverage of, and public opinion on, the Israel–Palestine conflict using a framing perspective. The first part of the study involves analysis of almost 10,000 articles published in The Australian and the Sydney Morning Herald between 2000 and 2010. The second part of the study is based on an online survey conducted with 1021 participants nationally. The main aim of this study is to identify the extent to which the issues deemed most central to resolving the conflict have been covered by the Australian press and the extent to which Australian public opinion is either reflective of this content or represents alternate views. The study found that respondents expressed perspectives inconsistent with prevalent news frames, including a close identification with the Palestinian narrative as well as views on a resolution of the conflict reflective of a concern for human rights and universal values.

South Pacific university-based journalism school publications were innovative newspaper publishers from 1975 onwards and among early pioneers of online publishing in the mid-1990s. Several publications have become established long-term with viable economic models and have had an impact on Oceania’s regional independent publishing. All have been advocates of a free press and freedom of expression under Article 19 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. Among early trendsetters were Uni Tavur, Liklik Diwai in Papua New Guinea, and Wansolwara and Pacific Journalism Online in Fiji. Wansolwara and its online edition was also the flagbearer for independent publishing under the pressure of two coups d’état in 2000 and 2006 in Fiji. All newspapers have contended with censorship in various forms. Now Wansolwara has embarked on a publishing partnership with a leading post-coup Fiji daily newspaper. This article analyses the independent media published by communication studies educational programmes in Fiji and Papua New Guinea. It examines how a variety of niche publishing formula have boosted independent coverage and issues-based journalism on wide-ranging topics such as human rights, news media facing censorship and freedom of information.

Although the 2003 Iraq invasion was not wholly framed as a ‘humanitarian intervention’, the rhetoric of bringing liberation, democratization and human rights to the Iraqi people was widely advanced by the coalition and supporters as a legitimating reason for war. This article assesses the role played by press photography in legitimizing or challenging this crucial framing during the invasion across a range of UK national newspapers. Privileging visual content in research design, the study presents selected results from a comprehensive content and framing analysis of press photography during the invasion period (March–April 2003), specifically examining the prominence and treatment of photographs in the humanitarian-related visual coverage, along with the accompanying words used to define, support or detract from the events depicted. While finding that the rationale of humanitarianism generally played well for the coalition during this study period, this article explores the problematic nature of the narrative of liberation.

In November 1976, the German Democratic Republic (GDR) announced the expatriation of the dissident singer-songwriter Wolf Biermann, preventing his return from a concert tour in West Germany. This step attracted widespread press coverage and sparked a substantial expression of solidarity by East German intellectuals. This article proposes an alternative perspective on this well-known episode in German history by highlighting its transnational dimensions and its international contexts. Biermann’s work interacted with broader cultural currents of the period, while his political engagement with events in Chile and Spain testified to the importance of transnational solidarity for left-wing mobilizations. Moreover, the article points to two important international factors that are crucial for understanding the events of 1976: the role of Eurocommunism within left-wing debate on the one hand, and the resonance of human rights discourse during the 1970s on the other.

The aim of this research paper is to clarify the challenges Palestinian media professionals face as a result of their work. It uses the assassination of Sherine Abu Aqleh, an Al-Jazeera correspondent, as a model, and discusses the legal repercussions of the scene where she was assassinated by an Israeli sniper while covering the Jenin camp invasion on Monday, May 11, 2022, and her martyrdom. Qualitative research and semi structured interviews will be used to collect information for this scientific paper. The interview will include open and closed questions that can be analyzed by the journalists accompanied by Sherine Abu Aqleh when she was assassinated. They are Ali Smoudi, Shatha Hanaysha, and Mujahid Al-Saadi. Interviewers' consent will be obtained before recording and analyzing their answers. In addition, the researchers conducted a number of interviews with lawyers and activists from human rights institutions as well as journalists who testified at the United Nations headquarters in Geneva last month.

We present and analyze a database of 1.13 million public Instagram posts during the Black Lives Matter protests of 2020, which erupted in response to George Floyd’s public murder by police on May 25. Our aim is to understand the growing role of visual media, focusing on a) the emergent opinion leaders and b) the subsequent press concerns regarding frames of legitimacy. We perform a comprehensive view of the spatial (where) and temporal (when) dynamics, the visual and textual content (what), and the user communities (who) that drove the social movement on Instagram. Results reveal the emergence of non-institutional opinion leaders such as meme groups, independent journalists, and fashion magazines, which contrasts with the institutionally reinforcing nature of Twitter. Visual analysis of 1.69 million photos show symbols of injustice are the most viral coverage, and moreover, actual protest coverage is framed positively, in contrast with combatant frames traditionally found from legacy media. Together, these factors helped facilitate the online movement through three phases, culminating with online international solidarity in #BlackOutTuesday. Through this case study, we demonstrate the precarious nature of protest journalism, and how content creators, journalists, and everyday users co-evolved with social media to shape one of America’s largest-ever human rights movements.

Abstract Sexual violence is a form of crime and a violation of human rights. Sexual violence causes psychological trauma that makes victims deeply suffer in a long term. However, the existence of news reports of sexual violence does not on the victim’s side. This article aims to find norms for legal protection in online media coverage. This argument is based on the fact that mass media coverage is not on the sexual violence victims' side.. This impartiality is indicated exposing the victim's name. Detailed news writing that makes readers visualize, and Victim Blamming occurs. Tribunnews as one of the leading online media in Indonesia is used as a research sample. The reason is that because this media often does click bait. The research method used is normative juridical. The results of the study show: First, Tribunnews coverage is not on the victim’s side. Second, protection for sexual violence victims is not found in the statutory norms. Third, protection for victims of sexual violence can be found in the Legal Products of the Press Council. Fourth, the Legal Products of the Press Council have weak applicable powers in law enforcement. Keyword : Legal Protection, Sexual Violence, Media Coverage Abstrak Kekerasan seksual merupakan salah satu bentuk kejahatan dan pelanggaran terhadap Hak Asasi Manusia. Namun, keberadaan pemberitaan kekerasan seksual tidak berpihak kepada korban. Artikel ini bertujuan mencari norma perlindungan hukum dalam pemberitaan di media online. Argumentasi ini didasari bahwa pemberitaan media massa tidak berpihak kepada korban kekerasan seksual. Ketidakberpihakan tersebut ditandai dengan adanya penulisan nama korban. Penulisan berita yang detail sehingga membuat pembaca berimajinasi, dan Victim Blamming. Tribunnews sebagai salah satu Media Online terdepan di Indonesia dijadikan sample penelitian. Hal ini dikarenakan media tersebut sering melakukan click bait. Metode penelitian yang digunakan adalah Yuridis Normatif. Hasil Penelitian menunjukan, Pertama, Pemberitaan Tribunnews tidak berpihak kepada korban. Kedua, Perlindungan terhadap korban kekerasan seksual tidak ditemukan dalam norma perundang undangan, Ketiga, Perlindungan terhadap korban kekerasan seksual bisa ditemukan dalam Produk Hukum Dewan Pers. A recent World Bank report reveals that poverty has been decreasing in all regions of the world with the exception of sub-Saharan Africa (SSA) as more than 45% of countries in the sub-region are off-track from achieving the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) extreme poverty target. Asanga, Boateng & Akamavi (2016). Hoofmann (TRT News, 2021) echoed similar view when he said that Nigeria has the largest number of people in poverty in the world, with the unemployment rate among 15-34-year-old around 35 percent in 2020; adding that: “Twitter is a digital platform that has been a crucial link in the operations of millions of small and medium-sized enterprises; it allows the kind of business that gives consumers options which leads to innovation and better products and services. It was estimated that the nation stands to lose a whopping sum of N650 million monthly if Twitter suspension remains in place. This paper thus explores the suspension of Twitter operations and reactions by Nigerians and the international community; using the content analysis and case study research designs; while agenda-setting and innovation theories served as the study theoretical foundation to examine how innovative communication will foster the pace of economic development which Nigerians genuinely crave for. Study found that all online news content analysed were foreign based newspapers/ magazines; 6 representing 66.7% of the entire stories dwelt on abuse of freedom of the press; freedom of expression and human rights issue, while economic and political headlines on the ban were two and one stories representing 22.2% and 11.1% respectively.

Auckland: Little Island Press in association with the Pacific Media Centre. 2014, 362 pp. ISBN 978-1877484-25-4Most journalists work to earn a decent living. Some join the profession to rub shoulders with the rich and famous, benefitting from close proximity to the powers that be. David Robie, the doyen of journalism in the South Pacific region, has pursued a different type of journalism, as this book attests. An exceptional individual, apart from being an award-winning journalist, a prolific author and a committed journalism educator, Robie has set new standards of journalism practice and politics in a part of the globe which receives scant coverage in the international media. During the early 1990s, as associate editor of the London-based and now defunct Gemini News Service, a ‘Third World-oriented’ news features service, this reviewer had the privilege to work with Robie, who regularly contributed thoughtful, well-researched but never preachy articles and commentaries from the South Pacific region, which were circulated among the agency’s more than 100 newspapers around the world.

Resumo:

Russia’s Invasion of Ukraine in the Polish Opinion Dailies Rzeczpospolita and Gazeta Wyborcza The aim of the article was to reconstruct the image of the initial stage of the full-scale Russian invasion of Ukraine, and the time immediately preceding it, in the Polish opinion dailies Gazeta Wyborcza and Rzeczpospolita. It was verified which of the interpretive frame, as defined by Holli Semetko and Patti Valkenburg, was the dominant one, which tópoi (natural vs. cultural) dominated in the research sample and how the number and exposure of press texts were changing, alongside the intensity of press coverage regarding the Russia’s war in Ukraine. The content analysis method, the framing analysis concept, the priming concept and the locus communis concept were used in the research. The frame of conflict and the frame of human affairs were the dominant frames in Polish opinion dailies. Rzeczpospolita also noted a high degree of saturation of publications with the economic consequences frame. Cultural tópoi prevailed over natural ones. The most numerously represented natural tópoi were: the right to freedom and security, human dignity, the right to life, while the cultural tópoi were: the politics of superpowers, the economic consequences of war, migration and refugees. The greatest interest of Polish dailies in Russia’s war in Ukraine took place just after February 24, 2022, whilst the “freshness effect” decreased only slightly with the passage of time. The article increases the cognitive value in the area of research on the image of Russia’s invasion of Ukraine in the Polish opinion press.

Abstract: In a world where information holds the power to change reality, mass media and journalists play a crucial role in uncovering the truth and upending the power system. Among them, women journalists stand out not only for their journalistic prowess but also for their courage in the face of challenging circumstances. Women journalists bring diverse perspectives to the newsroom, which ensures more comprehensive coverage of a news story that helps highlight issues that are often overlooked or underrepresented such as gender-based violence, human rights abuses, and social inequalities. Despite their significant contributions they have to face gender discrimination in the workplace, unequal pay, limited opportunities, and even have to sacrifice their life to reveal the truth. The primary objective of this research paper is to examine the tragic incidents such as murder or harassment of women journalists and discuss the case study. Based on existing secondary data a qualitative analysis will be conducted on this paper. The findings of this exploratory study will highlight the critical role journalists play in exposing corruption, violence or injustice. In order to maintain press freedom and protect individuals who challenge power systems, this study will shed light on the need for their security as well as the protection of journalists, especially women.

Abstract What explains the election of the 45th President of the United States? Many commentators have said that Trump is a fascist. This builds on grave concerns, since Citizens United, that democracy is being corrupted. This article suggests the long term cause, and the shape of ideology is more complex. In 1971, an extraordinary memorandum of Lewis Powell for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce urged that ‘[b]usiness interests’ should ‘press vigorously in all political arenas for support’. Richard Nixon appointed Powell to the Supreme Court, and a few years later, despite powerful dissent, a majority in Buckley v. Valeo held that candidates may spend unlimited funds on their own political campaigns, a decision of which Donald Trump, and others, have taken full advantage. Citizens United compounded the problems, but Buckley v. Valeo was the ‘Trump for President’ case. This provided a platform from which Trump could propel himself into extensive media coverage. The 2016 election was inseparable from the social ideal pursued by a majority of the Supreme Court since 1976. No modern judiciary had engaged in a more sustained assault on democracy and human rights. Properly understood, ‘fascism’ is a contrasting, hybrid political ideology. It mixes liberalism’s dislike of state intervention, social conservatism’s embrace of welfare provision for insiders (not ‘outsiders’), and collectivism’s view that associations are key actors in a class conflict. Although out of control, Trump is closely linked to neo-conservative politics. It is too hostile to insider welfare to be called ‘fascist’. Its political ideology is weaker. If we had to give it a name, the social ideal of Donald Trump is ‘fascism-lite’.

An upsurge of fascist and anti-fascist activity in Australia in the early part of the twentieth century has received sustained historical attention. Yet scholarly historical coverage of the latter part of the century has been minimal. This article demonstrates the ongoing existence of both a far-right movement and a concomitant anti-fascist opposition by focusing on Melbourne in the 1990s. It draws from interviews with anti-fascist activists and from campaign paraphernalia and press reports. It introduces the group National Action (NA), identifies its political tactics and shows how it rebranded fascist traditions from Europe and the USA by drawing on iconic figures and symbols of the Australian labour movement, anti-immigrant racist tropes and on white Australian nationalism. Anti-fascist groups were loose collections of left activists and organisations animated by memories of the racist horrors of World War II. This article shows that, over time, loosely affiliated ant-fascist groups were influenced by various overseas currents of thought about political practice. These included notions of a United or Popular Front, direct and indirect action, “no platforming” and “squaddism” respectively. The analysis draws on contemporary trends in international anti-fascism studies.

The adoption of brands as an identity marker for hate groups has been extensively noted for decades. The use of specific brands, often covertly, allows hate groups to have identity markers without the social stigma ascribed to historical hate symbols. With high-profile events such as the ‘Unite the Right’ march in Charlottesville, hate groups have utilized media coverage to increase their visibility and, by extension, the brands that they have co-opted. Such unwanted associations for organizations are defined by this research as a hatejack, whereby an extremist group publicly presents linkage to a brand, typically to claim legitimacy by the association. The covert, hide-and-seek nature of the hatejack also allows extremist groups to identify with each other without public or legal scrutiny. The dangers of a hatejack have been exacerbated by two-way symmetrical models of public relations that focus on online and social media. Popular press books such as Brand Hijack seem to suggest that organizations would do well to cede ownership of their identity and allow the construction of brands by external publics. This emphasis, however, has allowed for hate groups to more readily adopt brands and publicly proclaim a connection to the organization that does not exist. This research examines cases of hatejacks in which brands become unwitting instruments of extremist groups and seeks to identify emerging and consistent themes across cases that merit further investigation by researchers and actions by practitioners.

Health care insurance schemes, whether private or public, are notoriously unaccommodating to individuals with disabilities. While most nonelderly nondisabled persons in the U.S. are insured through private sources, coverage sources for nonelderly persons with disabilities have traditionally been a mix of private and public coverage. For all age groups, the employment-to-population ratio is much lower for persons with a disability than for those with no disability. Moreover, employed persons with a disability were more likely to be self-employed than those with no disability. As a group, therefore, nonelderly people with disabilities have not been as well positioned as others to obtain private health care insurance because in the U.S., acquiring such coverage usually is employer based.

Children rights are highlighted by various authors, columnist and media persons from time to time. The purpose of this study is to identify the imperative issues of children in South Asia especially Pakistan and India. This research article aims to provide information to the advisers and policy makers to shift particular difficulties of children rights to the forefront of public conscience. For this purpose, two dailies, The Nation from Pakistan and The Hindu from India were selected to find out the value given to children rights. The study shows that the coverage of children rights of education, health, safety and development rights were hardly covered in Pakistan and India print media and it is rarely prominent to identify the important issues related to children rights. This survey also examines that there are significant difference in the coverage of India and Pakistan newspapers which reports to the children issues.

Sri Lanka has faced negative coverage of its security and human rights situation since 2009. One of the main reasons for the negative security and human rights coverage since 2009 is that the country continues to engage in traditional diplomacy which is ineffective in today’s era of rapid and extensive information dissemination through the internet and social media. The aim of this study was to analyze how Sri Lankan has used Digital Diplomacy DD to mitigate security and human rights situations and to analyze how DD could be used to enhance public and defence diplomacy in Sri Lanka. Findings from the study revealed that DD has not been adopted in Sri Lanka to mitigate the negative coverage of the security and human rights situation. Failure to adapt to combat negative coverage of the security and human rights situation in the country can be attributed to several factors. These factors include financial challenges, employee-related, and policy-related issues, and the lack of support from Government leadership for adopting DD. Findings from the study indicate that DD can be used to enhance public and defence diplomacy in Sri Lanka in several ways. These ways include using social media to counter the negative publicity of security and human rights situations by state and non-state actors, dissemination of the actual picture of the security and human rights situation in the country, facilitating low costs and effective two-way communication with all stakeholders, effectively present the Sri Lanka Government position at legislative meetings and other social activities in foreign countries, build effective support for Sri Lanka among member nations at international bodies and forums, and identify and mitigate existential threats to the country.

This study aimed to identify how Sexual and Gender Minority(SGM) are represented in the media by identifying the main issues that appear in reports on SGM in domestic media from 2001 to 2022. The data collected from BIGKinds was analyzed using the topic modeling method using R 3.4. As a result of the analysis, a total of eight themes (SGM rights and queer culture festivals, diversity and human rights issues as a political issue, the interaction between fear of COVID-19 infection and the hate of SGM, the problem of hate speech and discrimination against SGM people in our society, stories of living as an SGM, legal systems and rulings on SGM rights, changes towards an SGM-inclusive society abroad, and SGM people's lives in the entertainment and cultural industries) were identified. Implications were discussed based on the findings.

This article reflects on a participatory embroidery project in Mexico, Bordando por la paz y la Memoria: una víctima un pañuelo, by the art collective Fuentes Rojas. For over ten years this public art initiative has used needlework to engage with human rights issues. Fibre art groups in Mexico use needlework and the internet to address issues such as disappearances, femicides/feminicides and other violent killings. Building on Latin America’s heritage of activist needlework, the Mexican peace embroidery movement takes a transmedial approach to the memorialization of victims of violence in the country. They hold exhibitions and participatory sewing sessions in a variety of venues. They also disseminate information online to generate a dialogue about historical events and human rights issues. In this article, I explore the political and artistic context for the movement, as well as its aims. I argue that the embroiderers have developed a sophisticated memorialization strategy that helps disseminate information about the situation in Mexico while also countering the aversion that can arise from mass media coverage of the violence.

Objective: Human Rights Law (HRL) relates to effects investing, that strives to produce helpful social and environmental losses with financial gains. The businesses and organizational managers are exploring innovative economic resources and strategies to increase awareness of the global investment markets' ability to support Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Health coverage is essential for prospective human development due to that provides either an inherent human right or a necessary source of societal, economic progress. Widening income disparities, food insecurity, climate change, global financial crises, corruption and mismanagement of public funds, violent conflicts, rising unemployment, and various other difficulties point to a collective failure to achieve the right to development.  Method: Hence, HRL-SDGs has been designed for health coverage, including financial risk protection, access to excellent necessary healthcare services, and essential drugs and immunizations that are safe, effective, high quality, and cost-efficient. SDGs are established to be progress that satisfies their demands of the people with jeopardizing future generations' potential to achieve the identical.  Result: SDGs are promoted is a strategy for better satisfying the demands of society, the environment, and the economy. The process is performed through gradually integrating and realizing core human rights and essential economic responsibilities. Human rights and sustainable development improvement humans are interrelated and positively reinforcing ideas.  Conclusion: Human rights-based processes aim to help analyze discriminatory behaviors and imbalanced allocations of strength that establish results in development limitations.
