Blind image deblurring, one of the main problems in image restoration, is a challenging, ill-posed problem. Hence, it is important to design a prior to solve it. Recently, deep image prior (DIP) has shown that convolutional neural networks (CNNs) can be a powerful prior for a single natural image. Previous DIP-based deblurring methods exploited CNNs as a prior when solving the blind deburring problem and performed remarkably well. However, these methods do not completely utilize the given multiple blurry images, and have limitations of performance for severely blurred images. This is because their architectures are strictly designed to utilize a single image. In this paper, we propose a method called DualDeblur, which uses dual blurry images to generate a single sharp image. DualDeblur jointly utilizes the complementary information of multiple blurry images to capture image statistics for a single sharp image. Additionally, we propose an adaptive L2_SSIM loss that enhances both pixel accuracy and structural properties. Extensive experiments show the superior performance of our method to previous methods in both qualitative and quantitative evaluations.

This paper presents the matrix completion problem for image denoising. Three problems based on matrix norm are performing: Spectral norm minimization problem (SNP), Nuclear norm minimization problem (NNP), and Weighted nuclear norm minimization problem (WNNP). In general, images representing by a matrix this matrix contains the information of the image, some information is irrelevant or unfavorable, so to overcome this unwanted information in the image matrix, information completion is used to comperes the matrix and remove this unwanted information. The unwanted information is handled by defining {0,1}-operator under some threshold. Applying this operator on a given matrix keeps the important information in the image and removing the unwanted information by solving the matrix completion problem that is defined by P. The quadratic programming use to solve the given three norm-based minimization problems. To improve the optimal solution a weighted exponential is used to compute the weighted vector of spectral that use to improve the threshold of optimal low rank that getting from solving the nuclear norm and spectral norm problems. The result of applying the proposed method on different types of images is given by adopting some metrics. The results showed the ability of the given methods.

The conventional use and interpretation of electron beam induced current (EBIC) images in the SEM suffer from several inherent problems. One such problem is the superposition of topographic details, e.g., scratches, dust, contact damage, on the subsurface EBIC signal. Moreover, the use of an accelerating voltage to select depth may not distinguish information from regions close in depth. This exists in depth dependent defect imaging in multi-layer heteroepitaxial structures where two or more defect layers may overlap in the EBIC image. To alleviate these problems, techniques of image processing may be employed. By digitizing and storing several images, for example in the first problem EBIC and secondary electron image and in the second problem EBIC images obtained at different accelerating voltages, it is possible to use image differencing to extract a more selective image that reveals the desired information. In principle, image differencing requires simple subtraction (or division) of the brightness of each pixel in one image from that in the second.

Resumo:
This paper investigates an image acquisition scheduling problem for a Canadian surveillance-of-space satellite named Sapphire that takes images of deep space Earth-orbiting objects. For a set of resident space objects (RSOs) that needs to be imaged within the time horizon of one day, the Sapphire image acquisition scheduling (SIAS) problem is to find a schedule that maximizes the “Figure of Merit” of all the scheduled RSO images. To address the problem, we propose an effective GRASP heuristic that alternates between a randomized greedy constructive procedure and a local search procedure. Experimental comparisons with the currently used greedy algorithm are presented to demonstrate the merit of the proposed algorithm in handling the SIAS problem.

The problem of reconstructing an image from its Radon transform profiles is outlined. This problem has medical, industrial and military applications. Using the computer assisted tomography (CAT) scan as an example, a discretization of the problem based on natural pixels is described, leading to a symmetric linear system that is in general smaller than that resulting from the conventional discretization. The linear algebraic properties of the system matrix are examined, and the convergence of the Gauss-Seidel iteration applied to the linear system is established. Next, multilevel technology is successfully incorporated through a multilevel projection method (PML) formulation of the problem. This results in a V-cycle algorithm, the convergence of which is established. Finally, the problem of spotlight computed tomography, where high quality reconstructions for only a portion of the image are required, is outlined. We establish the formalism necessary to apply fast adaptive composite (FAC) grids in this setting, and formulate the problem in a block Gauss-Seidel form. Numerical results and reconstructed images are presented which demonstrate the usefulness of these two multilevel approaches

Shao, Wei. "Identifying the shape collapse problem in large deformation image registration". Thesis, University of Iowa, 2016. https://ir.uiowa.edu/etd/2276.

Resumo:
This thesis examines and identifies the problems of shape collapse in large deformation image registration. Shape collapse occurs in image registration when a region in the moving image is transformed into a set of near zero volume in the target image space. Shape collapse may occur when the moving image has a structure that is either missing or does not sufficiently overlap the corresponding structure in the target image. We state that shape collapse is a problem in image registration because it may lead to the following consequences: (1) Incorrect pointwise correspondence between different coordinate systems; (2) Incorrect automatic image segmentation; (3) Loss of functional signal. The above three disadvantages of registration with shape collapse are illustrated in detail using several examples with both real and phantom data. Shape collapse problem is common in image registration algorithms with large degrees of freedom such as many diffeomorphic image registration algorithms. This thesis proposes a shape collapse measurement algorithm to detect the regions of shape collapse after image registration in pairwise and group-wise registrations. We further compute the shape collapse for a whole population of pairwise transformations such as occurs when registering many images to a common atlas coordinate system. Experiments are presented using the SyN diffeomorphic image registration algorithm and diffeomorphic demons algorithm. We show that shape collapse exists in both of the two large deformation registration methods. We demonstrate how changing the input parameters to the SyN registration algorithm can mitigate the collapse image registration artifacts.

The article analyzes the peculiarities of the media content shaping and transformation in the convergent dimension of cross-media, taking into account the possibilities of augmented reality. With the help of the principles of objectivity, complexity and reliability in scientific research, a number of general scientific and special methods are used: method of analysis, synthesis, generalization, method of monitoring, observation, problem-thematic, typological and discursive methods. According to the form of information presentation, such types of media content as visual, audio, verbal and combined are defined and characterized. The most important in journalism is verbal content, it is the one that carries the main information load. The dynamic development of converged media leads to the dominance of image and video content; the likelihood of increasing the secondary content of the text increases. Given the market situation, the effective information product is a combined content that combines text with images, spreadsheets with video, animation with infographics, etc. Increasing number of new media are using applications and website platforms to interact with recipients. To proceed, the peculiarities of the new content of new media with the involvement of augmented reality are determined. Examples of successful interactive communication between recipients, the leading news agencies and commercial structures are provided. The conditions for effective use of VR / AR-technologies in the media content of new media, the involvement of viewers in changing stories with augmented reality are determined. The so-called immersive effect with the use of VR / AR-technologies involves complete immersion, immersion of the interested audience in the essence of the event being relayed. This interaction can be achieved through different types of VR video interactivity. One of the most important results of using VR content is the spatio-temporal and emotional immersion of viewers in the plot. The recipient turns from an external observer into an internal one; but his constant participation requires that the user preferences are taken into account. Factors such as satisfaction, positive reinforcement, empathy, and value influence the choice of VR / AR content by viewers.

Stelmakh, Marta. HISTORICAL CONTEXT IN THE COLLECTION OF ARTICLES BY TIMOTHY SNYDER «UKRAINIAN HISTORY, RUSSIAN POLITICS, EUROPEAN FUTURE». Ivan Franko National University of Lviv, março de 2021. http://dx.doi.org/10.30970/vjo.2021.50.11098.

Resumo:
The article examines the problem of the image formation of Ukraine in the international arena in the historical journalism of Timothy Snyder. The subject of the research is the historical context in the journalistic collection «Ukrainian History, Russian Politics, European Future». It identifies the main considerations of the author on the past of Russian-Ukrainian relations and the need to develop historical consciousness in the fight against Russian manipulation. Methodology: the comparative, historical, system analysis and other methods are used in the process of scientific research. The results of the study were obtained by analysing the author’s journalistic works and by considering the main historical themes raised by Timothy Snyder. Main results: The historical context in Timothy Snyder’s journalism is often focused on the Holodomor and the events of World War II. After all, these events are connected with the beginning of the image formation of the Ukrainian people as supporters of Nazism by the Russian authorities and the devaluation of the Ukrainians’ contribution to the establishment of peace during the Second World War. It is determined that the non-reflective attitude to history, the inability to draw parallels between the events of the past and the future leads to an ineffective response to manipulation and propaganda, which can threaten world peace. Conclusions: the realization that Russian aggression against Ukraine has its own history is a necessary aspect in the elucidation of this issue. The Eurasian Union and cooperation with the European far-right are Russian propaganda tools that discredit the Ukrainian state in the world community. Publicist Timothy Snyder points out that Europe’s future interconnects with the past, so he emphasizes the need to study and rethink history, which today has become the object of propaganda and manipulation.
