Automatic assessment of the operation ability of operators based on computers is an essential approach for improving the effectiveness of equipment operation training and enhancing equipment safety. Present methods primarily focus on the operation results but pay less attention to the operation procedure. One reason is that there is a lack of a model that has the ability to describe all probable paths to accomplish the same task. Therefore, an operations chain model is put forward for the first time to describe the standard operation procedure and relationships among operations based on the decomposition of operational tasks and the relationships among the various operations required to fulfill the task. A specific operation task corresponds to an operations chain, which will form one or multiple standard operation sequences that will allow trainees to complete the same task through different paths. The Needleman–Wunsch sequence alignment algorithm is introduced to match the trainees’ operation sequence with all standard sequences. The maximum alignment result is the score of the trainees’ operations. An example shows that the operations chain model can accurately describe the complex structure of the standard operating procedures. The Needleman–Wunsch sequence alignment algorithm can objectively evaluate the trainee’s operation capabilities. The combination of the operations chain model and sequence alignment algorithm can form a complete operation procedure assessment method that is friendlier to trainees and has more objective evaluation results. The method will help to improve the effectiveness of the competency assessment of equipment operators.

Technical operation of lifting and transport equipment is one of the key problems of ports and terminals. The functions of technical operation include maintenance and repair of lifting and transport equipment. The imperfection of the maintenance and repair system leads to downtime of lifting and transport equipment, which affects the cost of loading and unloading operations. The main requirements for technical operation are to ensure the quality and speed of loading and unloading operations with minimal operating costs. One of the indicators for assessing the quality of technical operation is the coefficient of technical readiness, which shows that the probability that the lifting and transport equipment will be in a working state at any time, except for periods in which operation is not provided. These periods include the time when the lifting and transport equipment is being maintained and repaired. Technical operation strategy is selected based on the technical readiness coefficient.

During the tractors’ operation, they interact as a control object with dynamic loads during technological operations with climatic, operational, organizational conditions on the one hand, and technical operation on the other, i.e. machinery is influenced by operating conditions. A comprehensive, dimensionless indicator of the operating conditions of tractors in agricultural production is the level of their operation. The level of operation of the tractor is the state of their operation in the household, which is determined by the degree of implementation of technical maintenance activities of equipment and the percentage of attracting tractors in labor-intensive processes when used as intended. The theoretical level of operation of the tractor can vary from 0 to 1. At the same time, 1 corresponds to the operating state of the tractor, at which the resource consumption is minimal, i.e. the degree of implementation of generalized factors of technical operation meet the State Standard requirements and the tractor performs work with the lowest specific resistance; 0 - theoretical, corresponds to the operating state of the tractor, at which the resource consumption is maximum, i.e. technical operation of the tractor is not performed and the tractor performs works with maximum resistivity. We have determined the levels of operation of tractors and indicators of their reliability in the farms of the Republic of Tatarstan. As a result of joint mathematical processing, regularities of changes in these indicators were obtained depending on the level of operation of tractors.

Energy piles are often closely spaced such that the thermal response of one pile might affect the response of neighbouring piles through heat transfer in the soil. This paper examines the changes in extracted energy and ground temperature of two cast-in-place bored energy piles installed below a six-storey building, with a diameter of 0.6 m, length of 10 m and 3.5 m centre-to-centre distance. Field experiments were conducted on singular and dual piles for cooling and cyclic temperatures, continuous daily operation of the ground source heat pump (GSHP) and intermittent cyclic operations with stoppage-to-operating ratios of 2:1 and 1:2. Compared to single pile operations, greater energy was extracted from dual piles for all operating modes despite thermal interaction through the soil volume between the dual piles. The larger stoppage-to-operating ratio of the GSHP induced lower pile and ground temperature changes and higher energy extraction than continuous operation for single and dual pile operations. The larger stoppage-to-operating ratio of the GSHP reduced the thermal interaction between the dual piles by imposing lower ground temperature changes compared to continuous operation. The results demonstrate the practical significance of managing the GSPHs operating modes for optimal thermal performance of multiple closely spaced energy piles.

Robust design techniques are often applied to the design of manufacturing processes to determine the most robust operating points for a production system. However, such efforts have traditionally been focused on treating the output of each manufacturing operation in isolation. This approach ignores the fact that the sensitivity of each operation to input variation is a function of the operating point, which can only be changed in conjunction with the operating points of all other operations in that system. As such, applying robust design to each operation within a system individually does not guarantee lowest end-of-line variation. This is contrary to commonly held beliefs. What is needed instead is a method for conducting a system-wide parameter design where the operating points of each operation are optimized as a complete set to reduce final product variation. The logistics of such an integrated parameter design scheme become difficult or impossible on processes that may occur in different geographical locations. In this paper we outline the use of mathematical models to conduct system-wide parameter design. We demonstrate this technique on a model of a sheet stretch-forming manufacturing system. Through this example, we show that selecting operating points while considering the entire system results in a greater reduction in variation than Taguchi-style robust design conducted independently on each of the operations within the system.

In this paper, we present the design of a versatile general multiplier-divider cell by using the Operational Trans-resistance Amplifier (OTRA) and MOSFETs operating in the linear region. The design and the basic operation of this block is verified. Other operations can also be realized by simply choosing the inputs of the signals at the different terminals. These operations include square root operation, scalar vector multiplier and modulation to name a few. The new cell is reconfigurable and can be programmed by DC voltages. The resulting circuits are simulated by 0.18 m CMOS process through PSPICE. These simulation results verify the versatile operation of this cell.

Abstract Aims Meningioma is the commonest primary brain tumour. Despite surgery, meningiomas can recur. Surgery is usually the first line treatment for recurrent meningioma. The aim was to determine the risk factors associated with clinical outcomes (performance status, morbidity, mortality, recurrence) following re-operation for recurrence of intracranial meningioma. Method Retrospective cohort study (1998-2018). Eligible patients had re-operation for local recurrence of a previously operated meningioma. Collected data included baseline clinical and imaging characteristic. Primary outcome measure was performance status after each re-operation. Secondary outcome measures were medical and surgical morbidity, recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS). Results Fifty-eight patients were eligible (38 female, mean age at 1st re-operation 56 years (SD=11.4)). Eleven patients (18.9%) had 2 re-operations and 3 patients (3.4%) had 3 re-operations. Median follow up was 125.5 months (IQR 73-191.5). Median time to 1st recurrence and 1st re-operation were 36.5 (IQR 24.2–79.1) and 43.8 months (IQR 22.9–102.7), respectively. Fifteen patients (25.9%) had worse performance status after 1st re-operation, compared to 6.9% (n=4) after the primary operation (Figure 1). Complication rate was 32.8% (n=19) after the primary operation compared to 46.6% (n=27) after 1st re-operation. At primary operation, there were 29 (50%) grade 1, 26 (44.8%) grade 2, and 1 (1.7%) grade 3 tumours. Median RFS after first re-operation was 68 months (95% CI 45.5-90.5) (figure 2). Median OS was 312 months (95% CI 236.9-387.1) (Figure 3). Post-operative complications were a risk factor for worsened performance status following re-operation (OR 4.91, 95% CI 1.3-18.4). Conclusion Re-operation is associated with a worse performance status and increased risk of complications. Re-operating meningiomas for radiological recurrence without symptoms increases patient morbidity. Shared-care management decision should be made with patients when considering operating for radiological recurrence only.

Sports information operations can be crucial to the success of an athletic department; however, a review of NCAA Division II website staff directories indicated that the majority of institutions operating in this division utilize a one-person sports information operation system. The one-person operation may be considered the norm, but previous research reports sports information directors (SIDs) feel overworked and under-appreciated in their positions. With the negative perspective reported by SIDs working in the industry, an analysis exploring sports information operations management in Division II could offer innovative solutions for institutions operating with a one-person SID operation. An electronic survey was distributed to all NCAA Division II SIDs and the researchers conducted a content analysis from survey responses to identify current perceptions and experiences Division II SIDs have regarding sports information operations on campus. Results indicate that Division II SIDs are expected to perform many functions with very limited resources. Recommendations for improving working conditions for Division II SIDs are discussed and innovative solutions are offered.

In large-scale arable farming, multiple sequential operations involving multiple machines must be carried out simultaneously due to restrictions of short time windows. However, the coordination and planning of multiple sequential operations is a nontrivial task for farmers, since each operation may have its own set of operational features, e.g., operating width and turning radius. Taking the two sequential operations—hoeing cultivation and seeding—as an example, the seeder has double the width of the hoeing cultivator, and the seeder must remain idle while waiting for the hoeing cultivator to finish two rows before it can commence its seeding operation. A flow-shop working mode can coordinate multiple machines in multiple operations within a field when different operations have different implement widths. To this end, an auto-steering-based collaborative operating system for fleet management (FMCOS) was developed to realize an in-field flow-shop working mode, which is often adopted by the scaled agricultural machinery cooperatives. This paper proposes the structure and composition of the FMCOS, the method of operating strip segmenting, and a new algorithm for strip state updating between successive field operations under an optimal strategy for waiting time conditioning between sequential operations. A simulation model was developed to verify the state-updating algorithm. Then, the prototype system of FMCOS was combined with auto-steering systems on tractors, and the collaborative operating system for the server was integrated. Three field experiments of one operation, two operations, and three operations were carried out to verify the functionality and performance of FMCOS. The results of the experiment showed that the FMCOS could coordinate in-field fleet operations while improving both the job quality and the efficiency of fleet management by adopting the flow-shop working mode.

Low carbon construction is an important operation management goal because greenhouse gas (GHG) reduction has become a global concern. Major construction resources that contribute GHG, such as equipment and labour, are being targeted to achieve this goal. The GHG emissions produced by the resources vary with their operating conditions. It is commendable to provide a statistical GHG emission estimation method that models the transitory nature of resource states at micro-scale of construction operations. This paper proposes a computational method called Stochastic Carbon Emission Estimation (SCE2) that measures the variability of GHG emissions. It creates construction operation models consisting of atomic work tasks, utilizes hourly equipment fuel consumption and hourly labourer respiratory rates that change according to their operating conditions classified into five categories, and identifies an optimal resource combination by trading off eco-economic performance metrics such as the amount of GHG emissions, operation completion time, operation completion cost, and productivity. The study is of value to researchers because SCE2 fill in a gap to eco-economic operation modelling and analysis tool which considers operating conditions at micro-scale of construction operation having many stochastic work tasks. This study is also relevance to practitioners because it allows project managers to achieve eco-economic goals while honouring predefined constraints associated with time and cost.

Drilling operation is the leader of the oil exploration and development industry. The complexity of the process determines the characteristics of high investment and high risk. The particularity of the operating conditions determines the characteristics of labor intensity, gravity, and three-dimensional intersection, which all make the drilling operation process have various risks. These risks affect the efficiency and progress of operations, and even cause major accidents in serious cases, leading to casualties and property losses. Therefore, it is necessary to further improve the well control safety technology, so that the drilling work will gradually move towards scientific, safe and refined technology development direction. Through field investigation and literature reading, the risk of drilling operation is analyzed, and the causes, classification and characteristics of drilling operation risk are summarized. This paper summarizes the complexity of drilling accidents and the importance of risk control research. Since the risk control of drilling operations involves many fields, this paper only makes preliminary analysis and exploration, and further research and exploration are needed to improve the risk control of drilling operations.

Pumping regimes for water distribution systems have been established to reduce pump operation costs. Optimization of water reservoir networks has been studied extensively for operating pumps efficiently. According to research, optimization reduces pump operation costs by approximately 10–20%. However, comparing economic benefits per country would be too complex because the effects of optimization differ depending on the power cost estimation system of each country and the existing operations. This study presents an optimization algorithm to minimize the operating costs of an entire system via the application of dynamic programming. Case studies were conducted to apply the algorithm to real values in four scenarios. By setting cost minimization as an objective, an optimum water pump operation plan was derived that encompasses operating conditions, variations in water demand, and energy costs. Results showed that operating a standby pump in an existing system can increase the system's efficiency. In addition, even if hourly water consumption remains constant, each case requires its own operating method, because each case has different operational costs. By considering various conditions such as those mentioned in this study, future pump operation schedules can be optimized and stabilized to maintain economic water supply.

AbstractMathematical programming-based systems analysis is used to examine the consequences of alternative operation configuration for the agricultural operations within the Texas Department of Criminal Justice. Continuation versus elimination of the total operation as well as individual operating departments are considered. Methodology includes a firm systems operation model combined with capital budgeting and an integer programming based investment model. Results indicate the resources realize a positive return as a whole, but some enterprises are not using resources profitably. The integer investment model is found to be superior for investigating whether to continue multiple interrelated enterprises.

Abstract BACKGROUND Meningioma is the commonest primary brain tumour. MATERIAL AND METHODS Retrospective cohort study (1998–2018). Eligible patients had reoperation for local recurrence of a previously operated meningioma. Collected data included baseline clinical and imaging characteristic. Primary outcome measure was performance status after each reoperation. Secondary outcome measures were medical and surgical morbidity, recurrence-free survival (RFS) and overall survival (OS). RESULTS Fifty-eight patients were eligible (37 female, mean age at 1st re-operation 56.1 years (SD=11.6)). Eleven patients (19.6%) had 2 re-operations and 3 patients (5.4%) had 3 re-operations. Median follow up was 128.5 months (IQR=73–194.5). Median time to 1st recurrence and 1st re-operation were 36.5 (IQR=24.3–81.0) and 43.8 months (IQR=20.3–103.4), respectively. Fifteen patients (26.8%) had worse performance status after 1st reoperation, compared to 5.4% (n=3) after the primary operation. Complication rate was 32.1% (n=18) after the primary operation compared to 48.2% (n=27) after 1st reoperation. At primary operation, there were 29 (51.8%) grade 1, 24 (42.9%) grade 2, and 1 (1.8%) grade 3 tumours. Median RFS after first re-operation was 36.5 months (95% CI 29.3–43.9). Median OS was 312 months (95 % CI 257.8–366.2). Increased number of post-operative complications were a risk factor for worsened performance status following reoperation (OR 2.2 [95% CI 1.1–4.6], P=0.029). CONCLUSION Re-operation is associated with a worse performance status and increased risk of complications. Re-operating meningiomas for radiological recurrence without symptoms increases patient morbidity. Shared-care management decision should be made with patients when considering operating for radiological recurrence only.

For the sake of upgrading students’ skills, this article interprets respectively the specific application of modern educational technologies from the four phases in modern industrial training: cognition, imitation, skills integration and refining. In the cognitive and directional phase, the training is aiming at inspiring learning motivation, understanding skills as well as the difficulty ,gist, points of attention and the process of operation, in case errors occur. In the imitative stage, operating process should be made clear. Students should imitate teachers’ operation so that the right visual image of standard operation will be transformed into students’ own skills. In the integrative phase, according to the general operating process, all basic operations will be integrated together through the industrial training. Finally, in the skills refining stage, the modern educational technology will be introduced to realize the consistent Human-Computer Interaction practice to improve operation and teaching effect.

The optimization of train schedule is one of the classic problems in the traffic organization mode in the field of rail transit. In order to reduce the operation cost of operators and improve the service level of passengers, it is feasible and necessary to optimize the train operation road. This paper considers the factors of minimum number of trains and total mileage of trains, and minimizes the operating cost of enterprises and maximizes the passenger service level in the context of urban rail transit operation with large and small crossing schemes. We used the weighted coefficient method to combine multiple targets into a single optimization problem and perform the model solution using Lingo software. The results provide insights into the best train operation scheme, including the number of large and small crossings, operating distances, and the number of trains required for effective urban rail transit operations.

The number of cyber attacks and cyber crimes grows every year. This is why there constantly appear new products, technologies and tools for protection against cyber threats. Security Operation Center (SOC) is one of the most up-to-date and reliable cybersecurity tools of enterprise level. There are already several SOCs in Ukraine in government and law enforcement bodies and there is strong interest to their implemen-tation shown by organizations and enterprises of practically every industry of national economy. SOC al-lows monitoring, detection and quick response to incidents which is necessary to reduce damage and fi-nancial losses caused by such incidents. Implementation of SOC requires significant expenses which can be afforded only by some organizations and enterprises. This is why creation of similar but more affordable tool is very urgent. The paper describes Security Operation System (SOS) designed for effective protection against cyber threats and cyber attacks, which collects, normalizes, correlates and analyses events in or-ganization’s IT infrastructure. Main advantage of this system is ability to receive information on events from different sources and their correlation which is important as today attacks can only be discovered on the basis of combination of events in the IT infrastructure. Another advantage of SOS is ability to add new correlation rules into analytical module which can be based on the unique experience of system exploita-tion, analysis of new attacks against organization’s IT infrastructure or borrowing such correlation rules from other organizations.

Multiplication is a common operation in many applications and there exist various types of multiplication operations. Current high level synthesis (HLS) flows generally treat all multiplication operations equally and indistinguishable from each other leading to inefficient mapping to resources. This paper proposes algorithms for automatically identifying the different types of multiplication operations and investigates the ensemble of these different types of multiplication operations. This distinguishes it from previous works where mapping strategies for an individual type of multiplication operation have been investigated and the type of multiplication operation is assumed to be knowna priori. A new cost model, independent of device and synthesis tools, for establishing priority among different types of multiplication operations for mapping to on-chip DSP blocks is also proposed. This cost model is used by a proposed analysis and priority ordering based mapping strategy targeted at making efficient use of hard DSP blocks on FPGAs while maximizing the operating frequency of designs. Results show that the proposed methodology could result in designs which were at least 2× faster in performance than those generated by commercial HLS tool: Vivado-HLS.

The article is devoted to the problem of planning operational search operations conducted by the operational units of the internal affairs agencies, and is based on the analysis of the practical activities of the police (militia) and counterintelligence agencies of Russia, some works of domestic and foreign researchers and the Federal Law of the Russian Federation “On operational search activities”. The availability of a single plan and intention is recognized as mandatory features of operational-search operations, along with coordination of all operational-search measures and other supportive tactical methods of action envisaged by them for the purpose, time and place (objects). The content of the plan and intention, their relationship, dependence on the purpose and scale of the operation, and the assessment by the manager and the operational officer of the general and specific operational situation are considered. It was stated that there is an insufficient normative entrenchment of the issues of physical detention of suspects, ambushes and other supportive tactical methods of action. Based on the personal experience of the author, some practical recommendations are given on the use of operational combinations, operational games, the use of tactical principles, including the principle of surprise that is mandatory for arranging and conducting operations, conducting reconnaissance, applying operational masking, etc.

Objective: The objective of the study is to verify how the application of operational auditing in the rates of credit operations of a financial institution can instrumentalize management in the decision-making process. Theoretical Framework: In order to build the theoretical basis to interpret the empirical data, the authors reviewed the scientific literature that deals with operational auditing, internal controls, standards, regulations and legislation applied to auditing. Method: The methodology adopted comprises descriptive research, with a qualitative approach and a case study in a large financial institution, containing characteristics and mechanisms specific to the organization in question. Data collection through semi-structured interviews with the institution's managers, directly linked to credit operations, in addition to documentary survey and observation. Results and Discussion: The results of the research showed fluctuations between the positions of the audited financial institution, regarding the items highlighted in each criterion when defining the credit rate. It is also possible to identify high levels of irregularities in some criteria for defining the rates adopted. Implications of the Research: The research contributes to the literature through its practical propositions regarding the performance of operational audits, in which it was found that internal controls must be improved with the aim of reducing notes and irregularities found in the definition of rates for credit operations of the financial institution. Originality/Value: The research highlights the relevance of auditing in the qualification of internal controls and efficient management to combat errors or fraud, a topic that is still little explored in scientific literature.

Transport of ore and overburden in open-pit mines is often performed with large haul trucks. Battery-electric operation of haul trucks can significantly reduce the CO2 emissions and the fossil fuel dependence of open-pit mining. This simulation study investigates the feasibility and economy of operating large haul trucks battery-electrically, charging from an electric road system in the form of overhead trolley lines. The used simulation model is verified against measurements on diesel-electric haul trucks in normal operation. The simulation model is then tested with five drive cycles representing typical operations in the Aitik copper mine in northern Sweden. This simulation study shows that battery-electric operation with an electric road is feasible. It is shown that battery-electric operation is much cheaper than diesel-electric operation under reasonable assumptions. It is also much cheaper than diesel-electric operation assisted by an electric road.

Introduction The acute surgical model has been trialled in several institutions with mixed results. The aim of this study was to determine whether the acute surgical model provides better outcomes for patients with acute biliary presentation, compared with the traditional emergency surgery model of care. Methods A retrospective review was carried out of patients who were admitted for management of acute biliary presentation, before and after the establishment of an acute surgical unit (ASU). Outcomes measured were time to operation, operating time, after-hours operation (6pm – 8am), length of stay and surgical complications. Results A total of 342 patients presented with acute biliary symptoms and were managed operatively. The median time to operation was significantly reduced in the ASU group (32.4 vs 25.4 hours, p=0.047), as were the proportion of operations performed after hours (19.5% vs 2.5%, p<0.001) and the median length of stay (4 vs 3 days, p<0.001). The median operating time, rate of conversion to open cholecystectomy and wound infection rates remained similar. Conclusions Implementation of an ASU can lead to objective differences in outcomes for patients who present with acute cholecystitis. In our study, the ASU significantly reduced time to operation, the number of operations performed after hours and length of stay.

Excluding the Sejong Fire Department Headquarters, visitations to 119 emergency operations centers in 17 cities and provinces across the country were conducted as of 2022 to assess the improvements in personnel arrangements, scope of work, and status of education and training after the placement of situation rooms. On-site visitations were conducted to 119 emergency operation centers in Seoul and 119 emergency operation centers in Busan. Interviews with security personnel participating in the study, such as emergency operation center managers and team leaders, were conducted at the 119 functional emergency operation centers. The status of the deployment, personnel matters, education and training in the operations center, and working conditions were assessed. The following improvements were suggested: The 119 emergency operation centers must be designated as heavy duty departments, provide personnel with the same or higher points as other departments, and provide training and comprehensive evaluation using common practice and simulations on the 119 Emergency Management Standard Response Manual of the National Fire Agency. In addition, working conditions, such as additional personnel points related to promotions, resolution of malicious complaints, difficulty adapting to sleep patterns, the need for psychological treatment, and lack of manpower, must be improved. The results suggest the benefits of operating 112 police emergency operation centers must be introduced.

Introduction Surgeons must ensure operative notes are legible and sufficiently detailed, outlined by 21 criteria in Good Surgical Practice guidelines (2014). Our aim was to introduce an electronic operating proforma to improve quality of operation notes. Methods Two audits were performed six months apart, after an education session and introduction of an electronic operating proforma, assessing adherence to the guidelines. Results were compared and analysed using Chi-square and Fisher’s exact tests. Results In both audits, notes for 187 operations performed over a two-week period were studied. In the first audit, six of the 21 criteria were recorded in ≥95% of operation notes, improving to nine in the second audit. In the second audit cycle, two subgroups were analysed, non-proforma (n = 30) and proforma (n = 157). In the proforma subgroup, 15 criteria were recorded in ≥95% of operation notes. Conclusion Quality of operation notes can be significantly improved by using a combination of education, electronic proformas and avoiding handwritten notes.

This paper uses the 9741 internationally-operated Chinese companies and their matched companies in Shanghai and Shenzhen A-shares as a sample to empirically examine the relationship between financial environment, distance and international operation. First of all, the study found that there is a significant positive correlation between the financial environment and the international operation of the company. In other words, the better the financial environment in which the company is located, the more likely it is that the company will conduct international operations. Second, there is also a significant positive correlation between distances and international operations, which means that the closer the geographical location of the registered place of a company and the central city of the province, the more likely it is that the enterprises within the jurisdiction are operating internationally. Furthermore, the urban distance can produce a ‘regulatory effect’ between the financial environment and the international operation of the enterprise. That is the positive correlation between the financial environment and the international operation of the enterprise depends on the ‘city distance’. Considering the influence of ‘city distance’, the positive impact of the financial environment on international operations is even more pronounced.

In situ repair and maintenance of high-value industrial equipment is critical if they are to maintain the ability to continue vital operations. Conventional single-arm continuum robots have been proven numerous times to be successful tools for use in repair operations. However, often more than one arm is needed to ensure successful operation within several scenarios; thus, the collaborative operation of multiple arms is required. Here, we present the design and operating principles of a dual-arm continuum robot system designed to perform critical tasks within industrial settings. Here, presented are the design principle of the robotic system, the optimization-based inverse kinematic calculation of the 6-DoF continuum arms, and the collaborative operation strategy. The collaborative principle and algorithms used have been evaluated by a set of experiments to demonstrate the ability of the system to perform in situ machining operations. With the developed prototype and controller, the average error between planned and real toolpaths can be within 2.5 mm.

An application of the min-max goal programming methodology to a system of multipurpose reservoirs for optimal monthly operation has been presented in this paper. The goal programming approach possesses significant advantages because of the fact that it may be based on physical operating criteria. The system goals and constraints are expressed deterministically. A constraint must be strictly satisfied, while for a goal it is desired to achieve the solution, which is as close as possible to the specified target. The min-max goal programming model is developed and applied to the Mahanadi Reservoir Project (MRP) Complex comprising of six multipurpose reservoirs in the state of Madhya Pradesh, India. The MRP Complex operations resulting from the use of the min-max goal programming model are compared to the operations resulting from three other reported optimization models with the same data set for the same operation period. The set of operations resulting from various models are comparable in their effectiveness, and in most aspects the min-max goal programming model operations are better.Key words: optimization, reservoir operation, goal programming, min-max goal programming.

In October 2013, the Italian Coast Guard began an innovative Search and Rescue mission, known as the Mare Nostrum operation, intending to rescue migrants in distress at sea and bring to justice human traffickers and migrant smugglers. In November 2014, after only a year of activity in which all the costs were financed by Italy, Mare Nostrum was officially ended and replaced by the Frontex-led Operation Triton. This paper examines the EU’s decision to implement the European Triton operation, the main objectives of this new European mission, and for a better understanding, points out the differences between these two naval operations led by Italy in the Mediterranean Sea. Launched in the Central Mediterranean, the main focus of the Triton operation was the border management control and to a lesser extent the humanitarian scope. Being a response to continuous Italy’s calls for aid and the expanded Mediterranean migration crisis, Triton functioned in the same line as two other similar European operations: in Spain, the Hera operation, or in Greece, the Poseidon operation (since 2006). Each operation had a member state, as the sole host state which commanded the entire operation. In February 2018, the Warsaw-based Frontex launched a new operation in the Central Mediterranean, the Themis Operation, to assist Italy in the Schengen border control activity, replacing the Triton operation and removing the much-criticized obligation to bring rescued migrants only to Italy.

Molodtsov’s soft set theory has been used in various disciplines both theoretically and practically. It is an effective mathematical tool for dealing with uncertainty. Since its debut, numerous types of soft set operations have been presented and applied. In this study, we analyze the fundamental algebraic features of a novel soft set operation which we call complementary soft binary piecewise union operation. Additionally, by examining the distribution of complementary soft binary piecewise union operation over all other soft set operations’ type, it aims to contribute to the literature on soft sets by revealing relationships between this new soft set operation and other types of soft set operations. Moreover, we prove that the set of all the soft sets with a fixed parameter set together with the complementary soft binary piecewise union operation and the soft binary piecewise intersection operation is a zero-symmetric near-semiring.

Abstract When the operating status of electrical equipment in a substation or the operating mode of the power system changes, a series of electrical equipment tripping operations need to be carried out. For traditional substations, personnel need to visually verify the opening and closing status of isolation switches during tripping operations and electrical equipment inspections. This manual operation mode has disadvantages such as low automation level, high labor intensity, and long operation time. The method of indirectly detecting the opening and closing status of isolation switches by installing auxiliary switches on the operating mechanism of control isolation switches also has the drawback of low accuracy. Currently, most inspection robots deployed in substations are used to detect the infrared temperature of electrical equipment and determine if there is an overheating defect, but they cannot automatically identify the opening and closing status of isolation switches and other electrical equipment.

In order to study the characteristics of a bidirectional shaft tubular pump with S-type symmetric airfoil blades, a prototype model was designed, manufactured, and tested. The energy characteristics, cavitation characteristics, and runaway characteristics of the pump were obtained under forward and reverse operating conditions for five different blade angles. Based on the basic equations of the pump and the inlet and outlet velocity triangles, combined with model tests and numerical simulations, the hydraulic performance of the pump was extensively analyzed and evaluated. In addition, semi-empirical equations for reverse efficiency and runaway characteristics were proposed. The dynamic pressure-drop coefficients were introduced to compare the cavitation performance under different flow rates in forward and reverse operations. The results reveal that the efficiency of the pump in reverse operation is greater than that of forward operation only under a very small flow rate. While the cavitation performance of the bidirectional pump in the two operating modes is almost the same, the runaway speed and backflow rate in forward operation are considerably greater than those of reverse operation. The results provide an important reference for the safe and stable operation of bidirectional shaft tubular pumps.

Successful advances of Soviet troops in Belarus created in the middle of July 1944 favorable conditions for large-scale operations on the southern flank of the Soviet-German front to complete the liberation of Ukraine and Moldova, driving Romania, Hungary, Bulgaria out of war, and driving the enemy from Czechoslovakia. During the Soviet offensive in Belorussia 1st Ukrainian Front began operation in the Lvov direction. The operation, which was later called the Lvov-Sandomierz, turned into a major offensive of more than 400 km and lasted from July 13 to August 29, 1944. The Soviet Supreme Command was seeking to crush Army Group "Northern Ukraine", liberate Western Ukraine and take the war to the south east Poland. Operations were carried out by 1st Ukrainian Front in close cooperation with the Soviet troops operating in the Belarusian direction. It was closely linked to the southern wing of the Soviet-German front, a series of successive and simultaneous front offensive operations, including operations by groups of fronts, united by a common concept and plan, such as Lvov-Sandomierz, Iasi-Kishenёvskaya, East Carpathian.

The strategy to compete with the airline is to improve flight image in Indonesia by improving the performance of aviation operations. This research aims to analyse and evaluate the performance of aviation operations in Indonesia from the company's perspective. The survey method was conducted through the dissemination of questionnaires to respondents with purposive sampling techniques netted 200 aviation employees in Indonesia. The data collected is processed using the Structural Equation Model - Partial Least Square. The results showed; Strategy direction proved to affect process management, process management proved no effect on operation performance, strategy direction has no effect on Operation performance, strategy direction proved to affect human resources management, human resource management proved to be no impact on Operation performance, Process management proved unable to fully mediation the relationship between strategy direction with operating performance, HR management proved not to fully mediation the relationship between strategy direction to operating performance. So it can be said the strategy direction of the company directly affects the flight operation performance. Keywords— Strategy direction; process management; human resource management; operation performance

Urban rail transit loops are essential in urban rail transit systems and transportation networks. However, precise requirements and reference standards for rail transit loop design have yet to be established. There are certain areas for improvement in planning, construction, and operation. In the planning and design of urban rail transit loops, the scale of the city and the relationship between line operations should be considered to ensure that the line conforms to the city’s operating traffic conditions and can effectively cater to peak passenger flow requirements. This article presents strategies for planning, constructing, and operating urban rail transit loops, laying the foundation for the healthy operation of urban rail transit.

The Republic of Korea Reserve Forces (ROKRF), established in 1968, continue to function through continuous changes such as improving laws and systems and optimizing organizations while complying with social and policy changes. However, the reduction of standing forces, changes in the operating environment, and the reduction of reserve forces required to carry out operations require the re-establishment of the concept of operation of regional reserve forces. In this study, we aimed to diagnose the phenomenon of regional reserve groups and derive an optimized operation plan for regional reserve groups in consideration of changes in the future security environment, operation support system, and law and order system. The operating system presented the mission of establishing local reserve forces suitable for the operating environment, organization, and organization maintenance for the future as well as maintenance and development of combat power through education and training. Finally, in the law and order system section, a plan to revise laws was proposed in consideration of the task of operating and constructing regional reserve forces and re-establishing them.

The satellite requires the support of a robust sub system. On Board Data Handling (OBDH) is the core function of the satellite subsystem and has to be error free in managing the operation of the satellite. It should withstand the harsh environmental conditions in space that has a lot of hazards caused by radiations. In view of these two conditions, the OBDH design should be able to manage the operation and overcome the hazards of radiation. In order to manage the operation Real Time Operating System (RTOS) was applied. RTOS was able to manage the task efficiently and effectively. In the aerospace domain, RTOS has become popular because of its strength in managing the operating system. Error Detection and Correction System (EDAC) system was applied to make OBDH more robust. This paper discusses the implementation of the EDAC system in tandem with the RTOS behaviour to manage the operation and increase the robustness of the system. The findings show that OBDH can be programmed successfully using RTOS to handle critical and robust operations.
