Questa tesi affronta il dibattito sulle immagini religiose nel Cinquecento da una prospettiva del tutto inedita, mirando a inseguire le ragioni, ripercorrere le soluzioni e le aspettative maturate in ambienti aperti a rivedere in chiave mistica la funzione delle opere d’arte. Una sistematica revisione critica della carriera giovanile di Paolo Veronese, condotta incrociando i percorsi della ricerca archivistica con quelli dell’analisi iconografica, ha messo in luce il coinvolgimento del pittore entro canali di committenza compromessi con le istanze di riforma maturate all’interno dell’Ecclesia viterbiensis da un lato, e nelle fila dell’Osservanza francescana dall’altro. Stimolato da figure come Marino Grimani, Alvise e Giorgio Corner di Giovanni e Daniele Barbaro, Paolo mette a punto immagini propriamente mistagogiche, attraverso un’accorta manipolazione di diversi registri visivi e l’ampio dispiegamento di originali strategie iconografiche e logico-sintattiche.<br>The aim of the present work is to shed new light on the 16th century debate on sacred images by describing the arguments, the answers and the expectations of some neglected groups that suggested to reconsider the function of religious art in a mystic sense. A systematic critical review of Veronese’s early career has been conducted through a twofold analysis, archivistic and iconographical, to show that some of the painter’s patrons were deeply concerned with the main themes of the Catholic reform because of their involvement with the Ecclesia Viterbiensis on the one hand, and the Franciscan Observance on the other hand. With the help of men like Marino Grimani, Alvise and Giorgio Corner di Giovanni and Daniele Barbaro, Veronese realized some mystagogical images that reveal a wise manipulation of different visual registers and a broadened use of original iconographical and logical-syntactic devices.

Il cinema sembra concepito da Sorrentino come una vera e propria arte figurativa, a tratti contemporanea, rinascimentale e barocca che fa del grottesco e dell’iperreale la sua modalità espressiva. Attraverso la sua conoscenza e l’interesse storico-artistico, il regista riesce ad utilizzare nei suoi film una grandissima fascinazione estetica che ben si collega all’arte contemporanea. Da L’uomo in più a The Young Pope l’elaborato analizza le caratteristiche principali del cinema di Paolo Sorrentino: la minuziosa costruzione dei personaggi; il profondo uso della musica; le ricercate ambientazioni; i criptici monologhi e il contatto con le arti visive. Proponendo un approfondimento delle relazioni che vi sono tra il cinema dell’autore e la storia dell’arte: a partire dalle citazioni, i remake, e i tableau-vivant presenti nelle sue immagini, per arrivare alle più ampie considerazioni, analisi e critiche che Sorrentino utilizza come strumenti della sua narrazione.

Resumo:

Quelle fut la position de Paolo Giovo (1486-1552), évêque de Nocera et médecin pontifical, sur la question turque ? Le traitement réservé par lui à trois événements majeurs de son époque que furent la vistoire de Tunis de 1535, l'entreprise malheureuse de la Preveza de 14538 et la défaite de Rhodes de 1522 nous a permis de cerner l'historien qu'était Paolo Giovio. Ses récits très détaillés étant le résultat d'une documentation de qualité, il devenait dès lors nécessaire de reconstituer ces sources. Le milieu vénitien se révéla être particulièrement déterminant ; se posa alors la question de l'opinion de Giovio sur la question turque, opinion manifestement liée à sa conception de l'Europe qu'il envisageait comme la république chrétienne. Enfin, ses capacités et son activité dépassant manifestement son rôle d'historien, il nous fallut déterminer la nature de ses interventions et les effets de ses écrits sur ses contemporains et sur ses successeurs<br>What was the point of view of the bishop of Nocera, the papal physician Paolo Giovio (1486-1552), on the turkish question ? His way to describe three great events of his age (the victory of Tunis in 1535, the unsuccessfull campaign of Prevesa in 1538 and the fall of Rhodes in 1522) was an help to figure out what sort of historian was Paolo Giovio. Analysing his detailed stories, result of a very good information, it was necessary to piece together his sources. Discovering that the venitian circle was a very determining factor in the Giovio's information, it needed to establish the Giovo's mind on the turkish question, an opinion manifestly in connection with his idea of Europe, that he did consider as the christian republic. After all, his capacities and his activities obviously exceeding his historian part, it was usefull to define the nature of his interventions and the effects of his written works on his contemporaries and successors

Resumo:

Paolo Paruta (1540-1598) può essere considerato il portavoce del pensiero politico veneziano di fine XVI. Lettore attento di Machiavelli e di Guicciardini, provò a far incontrare le novità fiorentine con le tradizioni cittadine e classiche da cui proveniva, giungendo ad una sintesi originale. La ricerca intende scandagliare il lessico utilizzato da questo scrittore, al fine da darne una più chiara caratterizzazione semantica e storica. Ad una parte introduttiva bio-bibliografica segue un profilo contenutistico generale, un lessico politico parutiano ragionato (allegate le occorrenze), delle conclusioni sintetiche.<br>Paolo Paruta (1540-1598) could be considered the mouthpiece of late XVI century Venetian political thought. Careful reader of Machiavelli and Guicciardini, he tried to mix together the new ideas from Florence and the Venetian and classical tradition he belonged to. This research would like to explore the lexicon used by Paruta, in order to reach a better historical and semantic interpretation. It is composed by: a bio-bibliographical introduction; a general summary; a selectde lexicon from Paruta's political works (with occurrences); conclusions.

The thesis is divided into three parts. Part One treats Beni's life and works from his birth in 1553 to 1604. His birth, his ancestry, his early education, his early careers, his Jesuit career and its aftermath are described from documentary evidence. His works of this period, most of which are inextricably connected with his life, are also briefly treated, Part Two narrates the events of the remainder of his life: his writing, his teaching, his publishing, his polemical writing, his relationship with his family, his last illness and death. Part Three provides a more ample critical assessment of his major writings after 1604, grouped according to subject-matter. Chapters are devoted to his criticism of Tasso, to his linguistic writings, to his theory and practice of poetry, history and rhetoric. The conclusion summarizes the pattern of his life and reassesses his importance. The Bibliography is divided into two parts. The first contains Beni's writings in three sections: (a) published works, with a note on the Opera omnia; (b) MS works; (c) a chronological reference list of his (mostly unpublished) letters. Part Two contains all other works consulted, MS and printed.

A intenção do presente trabalho é buscar caminhos para compreender o percurso intelectual percorrido pelo escritor italiano nos meios de comunicação de massa, iniciando a pesquisa por artigos publicados na década de 1960 em periódicos de menor circulação e culminando em uma análise mais longa e reflexiva sobre o momento que ficou conhecido como o do corsarismo. Tal denominação foi extraída do livro Scritti corsari, de 1975, o qual reúne uma série de textos escritos para grandes jornais italianos, como o Corriere della Sera, a fim de denunciar a dominação de um modo de vida burguês em detrimento de outras manifestações sociais e culturais na Itália após o fim da Segunda Guerra Mundial e seus consequentes avanços econômicos. Nosso objetivo é então pensar o que foi esse momento corsário na obra de Pasolini e de que maneira suas escolhas estilísticas constituíram uma forma muito particular de escrever ensaios jornalísticos<br>Abstract: Among all different literary and cinematographic activities developed by Pier Paolo Pasolini, his work in newspapers gained great importance with the general public and the critics because of the political intervention it represented. The purpose of this thesis is to search for means to comprehend the intellectual journey made by the Italian writer when he has written for big mass medias. The first step was related to writing reviews about his articles published during the 1960s in smaller journals and then a deeper and reflexive analysis of corsarismo was made. Corsarismo is a designation extracted from the book Scritti corsari (1975), which gathers many texts published in big newspapers, such as Corriere della Sera. These articles were written to denounce the domination of a certain bourgeois way of life to the detriment of other social and cultural manifestations in Italy after Second World War and its consequent economical improvements. A dissertação apresenta ainda, a análise de alguns poemas e filmes do autor. A pesquisa procura inicialmente investigar como Pasolini entende um sistema de representação semiótica e discute a noção de realidade na sua obra. Em um momento seguinte, procura-se analisar os fundamentos e implicações dos conceitos de realidade, representação e estilo na formação do cinema de poesia. A análise está baseada especialmente na articulação dos conceitos de teoria da linguagem desenvolvida nos ensaios estudados. _________________________________________________________________________________ ABSTRACT<br>This dissertation presents a research on linguistic and cinematic theories in the work of the Italian intellectual Pier Paolo Pasolini, specially in the theoretical texts compiled in the volume Heretical Empiricism. The dissertation still embraces analysis of some Pasolini´s poems and films. Initially, the research investigates how Pasolini conceives a semiotic representation system and dialogues with the notion of reality in his work. In the next moment, the research focus on the background information and implications associated with the concepts of reality, representation and style, in order to accomplish poetry cinema. The analysis is embodied with language theory concepts developed into the Heretical Empiricism texts.

L'attività pittorica di Giovan Paolo Lomazzo è stata fino ad ora poco considerata dalla critica, che si è per lo più concentrata sull'importanza del personaggio come poeta, scrittore in volgare e in "facchinesco" (una versione caricaturale del dialetto lombardo, Rime ad imitazione dei grotteschi, 1587; Rabisch 1587) e come critico d'arte (trattato dell'arte della pittura, 1584; idea del tempio della pittura, 1590). In realtà Lomazzo fu uno degli artisti milanesi più importanti negli anni tra la fine del sesto decennio e il 1571, quando una malattia agli occhi gli impedì di continuare l'attività pittorica; oltre ad un gran numero di ritratti di facoltosi personaggi legati a Carlo V e ai governatori spagnoli, oggi quasi del tutto perduti (ad eccezione dei due autoritratti di Brera e del Kunsthistorisches Museum di Vienna), Giovan Paolo eseguì anche numerose opere per le più prestigiose chiese milanesi, come le Due Crocifissioni per San Giovanni in Conca (ora rispettivamente nella parrocchiale di Valmadrera e a Brera), le pale per San Barnaba e la Pietà per San Vittore all'Olmo (oggi all'Ospedale Marchesi di Inzago). Lomazzo fu attivo anche a Piacenza, Lodi e Caronno, dove decorò l'abside di s. Maria Nuova.<br>The artistic activity of Giovan Paolo Lomazzo has been very little studied. Scholars have given their preference to his written work, published as a world famous poet (in Italian and in Lombard Dialect; the Grotteschi and the Rabisch, both published in 1587) and as art theorist (above all the Trattato dell'Arte della Pittura, 1584 and the Idea del Tempio della Pittura, 1590). Lomazzo was also a very important painter, one of the most Famous in Milan between 1560 and 1571, when he was compelled to stop his activity for a sudden eyes illness, which made him almost totally blind. He executed many portraits, which are almost totally lost (except from his two autoportraits, now in Brera and at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Wien), and many religious paintings for important churches of Milan, such as two Crucifixions for S. Giovanni in Conca (now in Valmadrera, Parish Church and at Brera Gallery), the altarpiece in San Barnaba and the Pietà for San Vittore all'Olmo (now at the Hospital Church in Inzago). He worked also in Piacenza, Lodi and Caronno, near Varese.

L'attività pittorica di Giovan Paolo Lomazzo è stata fino ad ora poco considerata dalla critica, che si è per lo più concentrata sull'importanza del personaggio come poeta, scrittore in volgare e in "facchinesco" (una versione caricaturale del dialetto lombardo, Rime ad imitazione dei grotteschi, 1587; Rabisch 1587) e come critico d'arte (trattato dell'arte della pittura, 1584; idea del tempio della pittura, 1590). In realtà Lomazzo fu uno degli artisti milanesi più importanti negli anni tra la fine del sesto decennio e il 1571, quando una malattia agli occhi gli impedì di continuare l'attività pittorica; oltre ad un gran numero di ritratti di facoltosi personaggi legati a Carlo V e ai governatori spagnoli, oggi quasi del tutto perduti (ad eccezione dei due autoritratti di Brera e del Kunsthistorisches Museum di Vienna), Giovan Paolo eseguì anche numerose opere per le più prestigiose chiese milanesi, come le Due Crocifissioni per San Giovanni in Conca (ora rispettivamente nella parrocchiale di Valmadrera e a Brera), le pale per San Barnaba e la Pietà per San Vittore all'Olmo (oggi all'Ospedale Marchesi di Inzago). Lomazzo fu attivo anche a Piacenza, Lodi e Caronno, dove decorò l'abside di s. Maria Nuova.<br>The artistic activity of Giovan Paolo Lomazzo has been very little studied. Scholars have given their preference to his written work, published as a world famous poet (in Italian and in Lombard Dialect; the Grotteschi and the Rabisch, both published in 1587) and as art theorist (above all the Trattato dell'Arte della Pittura, 1584 and the Idea del Tempio della Pittura, 1590). Lomazzo was also a very important painter, one of the most Famous in Milan between 1560 and 1571, when he was compelled to stop his activity for a sudden eyes illness, which made him almost totally blind. He executed many portraits, which are almost totally lost (except from his two autoportraits, now in Brera and at the Kunsthistorisches Museum in Wien), and many religious paintings for important churches of Milan, such as two Crucifixions for S. Giovanni in Conca (now in Valmadrera, Parish Church and at Brera Gallery), the altarpiece in San Barnaba and the Pietà for San Vittore all'Olmo (now at the Hospital Church in Inzago). He worked also in Piacenza, Lodi and Caronno, near Varese.

Resumo:

Questo lavoro di ricerca parte da una riflessione sull’artista veneto Paolo Gioli, in particolare sulla sua opera video-artistica e le sperimentazioni di cui quest’ultima è oggetto. Tale riflessione non può non prescindere dagli stimoli che egli ha tratto in diversi anni, sia in campo artistico che cinematografico, da fiorenti realtà come New York, Roma, Milano e Venezia, fondamentali per la ricerca, pratica e teorica, sui nuovi media e sui conseguenti effetti in campo visuale e sul conseguente impatto che tali ambienti hanno avuto sullo sviluppo artistico di Gioli. Quanto e in che modo il linguaggio mediale (intendendo la sua opera non semplicemente nel suo essere tecnico e pura materialità) di Gioli ha influito sulla fruizione dei suoi lavori? L'utilizzo di un linguaggio infranto e indefinito è mera manipolazione e sperimentazione video- artistica o un tentativo più profondo di liberare l'immagine dall'essere una semplice rappresentazione, spingendosi quasi alla sua negazione? Manipolando le immagini si tenta di manipolare lo sguardo dello spettatore? Dunque che tipo di rapporto si crea tra immagine e spettatore, dal momento che Gioli stesso instaura un rapporto viscerale, un coinvolgimento anche fisico, con il processo di creazione di tali immagini? Suddetti quesiti sono il punto di partenza da cui questo lavoro trae spunto per svilupparne una ricerca più ampia e originale.

Resumo:

L'idee forte de ce travail est de vouloir faire ressortir le "comment faire" pasolinien a donner la parole a des personnes qui en sont exclus. Dans l'action de communiquer quelque chose se joue, et c'est de cette chose la que nous allons evoquer. Cette chose qui est en fait la creation, la creation langagiere. La notion de realite est donc necessaire pour comprendre cet entre-deux du langage. Le monde economique n'a pas de tradition ou les detruits des qu'elles ne lui servent plus. Le cinema de pasolini nous montre un monde economique qui veut se liberer des anciennes valeurs, tant au niveau primaire, c'est a dire des parlants, que de celui des techniques artistiques. D'ou l'interet porte par pasolini aux dialectes qui sont une forme vivace d'expressivite et de creation linguistique et surtout de reconnaissance de la subjectivite. Seulement la perte de l'expressivite dans la vie quotidienne ne peut qu'impliquer sa disparition aux niveaux des techniques. L'artiste cherchera a tourner en derision le monde economique et surtout le monde des arts, qui a sa propre tradition dont il ne peut se liberer. Ii a ses codes. Pasolini sera celui qui va donc s'attacher a renverser ces codes quilui ont ete donnes pendant son apprentissage et il le fait au nom des valeurs artistiques et donc de la tradition. Pasolini nous apprendra que pour le cinema la realite devient de plus en plus inexpressive, et dans la mesure ou le cinema exprime la realite a travers la realite, il tend lui-meme a etre de moins en moins expressif donc comme un miroir passif des enormites de la vie. La realite chezpasolini est liee a la mutation du monde, elle est la monstration d'un passage, ou mieux d'une periode de ce passage : un entre-deux en quelque sorte. Entre un monde fini et un monde a construire. Mais cet entre-deux est fait de difference et meme souvent d'instabilites. Pasolini nous montre un monde sans expressivite car lie a la tradition, lie au gardien de la loi, a la figure du pere.
