Includes bibliographical references. The origins of the Torrens System of land registration are not clear. Examines the claim of Dr. Ulrich Hübbe who asserted that he collaborated with Torrens to bring about the adoption of the land law of his hometown Hamburg in the form of the Real Property Act 1858 (SA). Enligt den så kallade förnyelselagen kommer alla avtalsrättigheter som är inskrivna före den 1 juli 1968 tas bort ur fastighetsregistret om inte förnyelse av inskrivningen anmäls senast den 31 december 2018. Syftet med examensarbetet är att uppmärksamma förnyelsekravet. Arbetets mål är dels att undersöka Gävle kommuns hantering av förnyelsekravet och dels att underlätta för Gävle kommun att avgöra för vilka inskrivningar som förnyelse behöver sökas.
