Tea is a traditional beverage and the national drink of Pakistan and is locally known as “Chai”. Tea is loved throughout the length and breadth of Pakistan and remains one of the most popular beverages. Furthermore, it contains antioxidants and biotin, which boost the immune system. Pakistan has the potential to produce high-quality tea, which would increase exports, but due to a lack of appropriate equipment and research facilities and improper management, it is difficult to produce tea on a large scale. This study was undertaken to investigate tea farming practices with the aim of increasing

Tea consumption is associated with reduced cardiovascular risk. Previous studies found that tea flavonoids work through direct effects on the vasculature, leading to dose-dependent improvements in endothelial function. Cardioprotective effects of regular tea consumption may relate to the prevention of endothelial ischaemia–reperfusion (IR) injury. Therefore, we examined the effect of black tea consumption on endothelial function and the ability of tea to prevent IR injury. In a randomized, crossover study, 20 healthy subjects underwent 7 days of tea consumption (3 cups per day) or abstinence f

There is plenty evidence that regularly drinking tea can have a lasting impact on wellness. Both green and black teas are packed with antioxidants which help to build antibodies. There is however, little information documented on the level of tea consumption. This study therefore empirically investigated the level of tea consumption as well as assess global tea consumption from 2012-2025. The study was carried out in the South

We present four postmortem cases with toxicology results that serve as case studies for the potential hazards of poppy tea ingestion. There is limited information regarding the risks of this practice due to the variability of the morphine content of the opium exuded from the plant. While internet tea recipes offer guidance, differences in poppy cultivation, washing, and infusing time are some of the reasons why the beverage may contain inconsistent and clinically si

There has been considerable public interest in reports on harmful alcohol consumption of higher educated females. This study assesses the robustness of this finding with representative German data using ten different indicators of alcohol consumption. This cross-sectional study used data of the Epidemiological Survey on Substance Abuse from 2012. 4,225 females and 3,239 males represent the German population aged 18–64. It presents ten indicators of alcohol consumption by sex and education and provides group specific means and 95 %-confidence intervals. The main results are: (1) Higher educated

The FAO defines a sustainable diet as one that has low environmental impact, is beneficial for human health, and is culturally and socially acceptable and economically attainable. One step that has been suggested to improve the sustainability of the Scottish diet is to reduce meat consumption. In a 2013 study, Macdiarmid et al.1 found that the public lacked awareness of the association between meat consumption and climate change, and there was a resistance to the idea of eating less meat. In the ten years since this study was conducted, there has been considerable development in this area. The

Given the extraordinary pace at which especially new media technologies have developed in the last five to ten years, as well as the unprecedented amount of leisure time youth spend engaging with media such as television, Facebook, or games, there has been greater recognition by scholars, educators, and policymakers of the importance of incorporating media education and media literacy in schools and curricula. Current curricular approaches have moved away from a protectionist rationale toward a concern with supporting youth to become active media users (Buckingham, 2002). This shift towards re

The electric vehicle (EV) has become increasingly popular due to its being zero-emission. However, a significant challenge faced by EV drivers is the range anxiety associated with battery usage. Addressing this concern, this project develops a more efficient battery management system (BMS) for electric vehicles based on a real-time, state-of-charge (SOC) estimation. The proposed study delivers three modules: (1) a new equivalent circuit model (ECM) for lithium-ion batteries, (2) a new SOC estimator based on the moving horizon method, and (3) an on-board FPGA implementation of the classical Cou

This paper examines the role of disaster shock in a one-sector, representative agent dynamic stochastic general equilibrium model (DSGE). First, it estimates a panel vector autoregresive (VAR) model for output, investment, trade balance, consumption, and country spread to capture the economic effects of output, country risk, and exogenous natural disaster shocks. The study determines the empirical dynamic responses of ten Caribbean countries and seven countries in Central America. Second, by taking into account rare events and trend shocks, this paper also provides a baseline framework of the
