OBJECTIVE: To evaluate the association between sleep quality (SQ) and quality of life (QoL) in firefighters adjusted by clinical and demographics variables. METHODS: We carried out a cross-sectional study. Participants were selected by random sampling from 51 stations from Metropolitan area in Lima, Peru. Pittsburgh Sleep Quality Index and SF-12 were used to asses SQ (severe, moderate and low deterioration) and QoL (physical and mental impairment), respectively. We perform crude and adjusted – by statistical criteria - Poisson family generalized linear models with robust standard errors for estimating prevalence ratios and their CI95% [PR(CI95%]. RESULTS: From 514 participants, 6.0%, 31.5% and 38.7% had severe, moderate and low deterioration (SQ). Regarding QoL 33.7% had physical component impairment (PCI) and 45.3% had mental component impairment (MCI). In Adjusted model, PCI was associated with low [PR (95% CI): 1.84 (1.15-2.95) (p=0.006)], moderate [PR (95% CI) 2.56 (1.63-4.02) (p<0.001)] and severe deterioration [PR (95% CI): 3.32 (1.93-5.67) (p<0.001)] of SQ. Also, MCI was associated only with moderate [PR (95% CI): 1.62 (1.21-2.18) (p=0.001)] and severe [PR (95% CI) 1.79 (1.24-2.59) (p=0.002)] SQ deterioration.CONCLUSION: In this series, there was association between SQ and QoL in firefighters independent of clinical and demographics variables, which is observed both physical and mental levels. The exploration of sleep quality is relevant in this occupational group.

The present investigation was born from an inspiration when identifying a social problem that unfortunately no institution or the State itself has taken charge of, and it is based on the difficulties that a person who has overcome cancer has to return to his social, work and family life in an effective way, due to the physical and psychological sequels typical of the disease and treatment. The technological and preventive advances against cancer assure that the survival rate will increase year after year, so a great part of the population will have to face the identified problem, which directly affects their quality of life. With the application of agile methodologies and support of scientific research, it has been possible to empathize with cancer patients who have overcome the disease, with the intention of knowing their main fears, frustrations and needs. After the testing of prototypes, a proposal has been arrived at that intends to create value, first, by generating job opportunities in people who have overcome cancer and are currently specialists in one of the categories proposed in the solution, and therefore, are able to contribute with their knowledge, creating audiovisual content, second, this content will be disseminated through courses using a digital platform to reach the greatest number of people who have gone through cancer treatment and who have difficulties in resuming their past lives and well-being. The opportunity to undertake this business model is clear, since in the Peruvian market there are no companies that provide similar services, and it is a disruptive innovation since it seeks to build a collaborative community of value, through the participation of various actors who share the purpose. As for the financial part, the rate of return is 70%, higher than the 6.5% that the partners have defined as their opportunity cost, which guarantees the profitability of the project. Finally, with the implementation of this proposal, it is expected to generate sustainable impact on three Social Development Objectives (ODS): (a) quality education, (b) decent work and (c) end of poverty.

The Energy Social Inclusion Fund (FISE by its acronyms in Spanish) has been established with the aim of promoting through its intervention the use and consumption of clean energy, replacing the fuels that contaminate and affect the health of people and the environment through of the massification of the use of natural gas in the most vulnerable sectors of the population, the expansion of the energy frontier through the use of renewable energy and the promotion of access to LPG (Liquefied Petroleum Gas). Since FISE began its activities in 2012 until the end of fiscal year 2015, the number of beneficiaries enrolled in the FISE register reached 1'356,968. According to the results found about the factors that affect the management process of the FISE to improve the quality of life of the beneficiaries of the Manchay area, district of Pachacamac, the beneficiaries do not identify that the program helped them to improve their quality of life through the massification of the use of gas cylinders. On the perception of the beneficiaries regarding the implementation of the FISE and its relationship with the reduction of energy poverty, the beneficiaries identify the FISE only as a program that distributes gas vouchers and has no other type of benefit. Likewise, about whether the selection criteria used by the FISE guarantee that the beneficiaries are in agreement with the objective of the Program, it was evident that these are in accordance with its design, but it is necessary to incorporate other aspects such as the socioeconomic evaluation which must be previously verified to receive the service in the potential users. Finally, regarding whether access to LPG contributes to the care of the environment, the beneficiaries did not relate this benefit as a form of clean energy that takes care of the environment. The research will be of diagnostic type as it seeks to know the characteristics, conditions and the context in which the FISE is developed in the area of Manchay, Pachacamac district. Taking as units of analysis: i) state institutions such as OSINERGMIN and FISE through its officials; ii) Luz del Sur as an electricity distribution company and LPG distribution companies; And iii) FISE beneficiaries. The sources of information will be the primary sources: collection of information from semi-structured interviews and questionnaires; And, secondary: bibliographical data collected from national legislation, official reports, reports, annual reports, official presentations, magazines, internet. The universe is made up of people who have participated in FISE during the year 2015 in the district of Pachacamac, Manchay area. Universe refers to the total beneficiaries of FISE 381 beneficiaries. The sample has been selected for trial and convenience and would be determined as a representative number of the universe, ie 40 beneficiaries (active, excluded and / or inactive), 03 LPG distributors and 02 FISE OSINERGMIN and 01 relation of Light of the South). The results obtained have been structured based on the general objective of the research, which consists of knowing how the components of the Energy Social Inclusion Fund are being implemented to improve the quality of life of the residents of the Manchay area, Pachacamac district. In this way, the research is expected to contribute to the improvement of FISE in terms of meeting the objectives for what was created.

The purpose of this study was to investigate the relationship between quality of life related to health (HRQOL) and perceived social support in 60 men with prostate cancer who are treated at a hospital specializing in oncology in Lima, with ages between 50 and 80 (M=67.67, SD=7.98). The instruments use are SF-36 health survey version 1 (Ware & Sherboune, 1992) and the MOS Questionnaire for Social Perceived Support in Primary Care created by Sherboune & Stewart (1991). The results evidence that physical component, mental component and the dimensions of both have scores above 50. Also, men in clinical stage II have higher scores in the dimension of body pain than men in clinical stage III. Furthermore, men who have couple have higher scores in physical component and in the dimensions of physical function, physical role and body pain than those who have not couple. As a main result, emotional/informational support is related with mental component (r=.27, p <.05), mental health dimension (r=.39, p <.01) and vitality dimension (r=.32, p <.05). Additionally, affective support is related with mental component (r=.40, p <.01) and the dimensions of social function (r=.29, p <.05), emotional role (r=.29, p <.05), mental health (r=.47, p <.001) and vitality (r=.34, p <.01). In addition, a lineal regression analysis was performed and it found that affective support has statistical effect in mental component (𝑅2=.17, F= 5.69, p <.01).

The present research entitled "Assistance in Pediatric Oncology: Plan Esperanza Case of the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases (INEN)" allows us to know the services that children and adolescents suffering from cancer have access to. The treatment of cancer in children is very different from the treatment of adults because it weakens the body's defenses against other diseases. The main type of childhood cancer is acute lymphocytic leukemia, better known as ALL. In Peru, there are 150 cases of cancer per 100,000 inhabitants, being the second leading cause of death at the national level and it is estimated that 75% of cases are diagnosed at an advanced stage and mainly in Lima. For this reason, the Plan Esperanza is an initiative of the Peruvian State to fully serve the population affected by this disease and provide them with access to cancer services in Peru according to technological development and the availability of resources. The general objective of this research is to know the assistance provided by the Plan Esperanza to children and adolescents suffering from cancer in Pediatric Oncology of the National Institute of Neoplastic Diseases between 2013 and 2015; analyzing the services offered by this program as a contribution to improve the quality of life of affected patients. With the information collected from the parents of the beneficiaries of the Plan Esperanza will be able to improve services and strengthen good practices.
