The study investigated the association between dietary patterns and oral cancer as part of a Latin American multicenter hospital-based case-control study, and included 210 incident cases of oral cancer and 251 controls. Dietary data were collected using a Food Frequency Questionnaire (FFQ). Factor analysis was used to define dietary patterns, which were categorized into terciles. Odds ratios (OR) with 95% confidence intervals (95%CI) were calculated using unconditional multiple logistic regression. Diet habits have been shown to affect numerous diet-related cancers, for instance, colorectal cancer, oral, nasopharyngeal, and esophageal cancers, pancreatic cancer, lung cancer, etc. This study investigates the relationship between the evolution of dietary guidelines and incidence rates for certain diet-related cancers in the United States (U.S.) and Australia over a 15-year period (2003-2017). Employing an extensive comparative analysis, the study aims to unveil potential associations or divergences between advocated dietary habits and the occurrence of distinct diet-related cancers. Background: Oral cancer remains a significant public health concern, particularly in regions with high tobacco use and limited access to preventive care. Early identification of risk factors and effective community-based interventions are essential to reduce disease burden and improve prognosis. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the impact of behavioural risk factors and dietary practices associated with oral cancer among a defined population. Materials and Methods: A community-based interventional study was conducted among adults aged 18 years and above. Baseline data on dietary practices rel

OBJECTIVE: To analyze the association between dietary patterns and oral cancer. METHODS: The study, part of a Latin American multicenter hospital-based case-control study, was conducted in São Paulo, Southeastern Brazil, between November 1998 and March 2002 and included 366 incident cases of oral cancer and 469 controls, frequency-matched with cases by sex and age. Dietary data were collected using a food frequency questionnaire. The risk associated with the intake of food groups defined a posteriori, through factor analysis (called factors), was assessed. Abstract BACKGROUND: Endometrial cancer (EC) is the most common gynecologic cancer and the fourth most common cancer among women in the U.S. The incidence of EC is increasing, particularly among racial/ethnic minority groups. Obesity is an established EC risk factor, and obesity-related inflammation and hyperinsulinemia may play an important role in EC etiology. We examined the association of five empirical dietary and lifestyle indices, which assess the inflammatory and insulinemic potentials of diet and were developed based on blood inflammatory biomarkers and insulin response, with the risk

INTRODUCTION The dietary pattern approach is useful to study the effect of the overall diet on health outcomes, through considering the network of complex interactions between foods or nutrients. The main methods traditionally used to identify dietary patterns are principal components analysis, factor analysis, principal components factor analysis and cluster analysis. Latent class analysis (LCA) is a latent variable approach, that has some advantages in comparison to the previous methods. Unlike principal component, factor and principal component factor analysis, it can be used to classif

This chapter covers cancer of the oral cavity and the oropharynx, which includes the base of the tongue, soft palate, tonsils, and back and side walls of the throat. Many important risk factors for oral and oropharyngeal cancer have been identified, and in 2007 the World Health Organization determined there was sufficient evidence to include human papilloma virus (HPV) type 16 as a cause of these cancers. Tobacco and alcohol remain important modifiable risk factors, but the increasing incidence of HPV-associated tumors is now evident. While these tumors are more amenable to treatment than HPV-
