We collected nine scutigeromorph centipede specimens in Colombia, which are the first records of <em>Dendrothereua linceci</em> (Wood, 1867) from the country and South America, expanding the the known distribution of the species. With these data, one more species of Scutigeromorpha centipede is added to the chilopod fauna of the region.

The house centipede Scutigera coleoptrata (Linnaeus, 1758) has a cosmopolitan range due to an-thropogenic introduction. <em>Thereuonema tuberculata</em> (Wood, 1862) is an anthropophilic centipede originating from Asia. Introduced populations were recently reported from inside buildings in the United Kingdom and the USA; however, this centipede has not been reported from outdoor habitats where it is an introduced species. We report established populations of <em>T. tuberculata</em> in two forested and lakeside habitats in Nebraska, USA, which indicates this species has a widely dispersed, established population in the continental USA.

&lt;p&gt;The order, family, genus and species of the house centipede are new to Asian Russia’s list: Scutigeromorpha, Scutigeridae, &lt;em&gt;Scutigera&lt;/em&gt; Lamark, 1801, and&lt;em&gt; &lt;/em&gt;&lt;em&gt;Scutigera coleoptrata &lt;/em&gt;(Linnaeus, 1758). All records of the species in the south of western Siberia appear to be associated with synanthropic habitats. The response of the temporal organ (organ of Tömösváry) has been studied electrophysiologically in the Japanese house centipede (Thereuonema hilgendorfi: Chilopoda). 1. Receptor cells of the temporal organ show spontaneous discharges (15–40 impulses s−1) which are depressed in a phasic-tonic manner by carbon dioxide stimuli. <em>Thereuonema tuberculata</em> (Wood, 1862), a centipede, is distributed mainly in Asia. In Japan, <em>T. tuberculata </em>is found throughout Honshu Island and southwards, although less commonly to the north on Hokkaido. Our survey additionally showed that this species occurs commonly at altitudes of 0&ndash;540 m on Hokkaido. Land-bridge islands off the Brazilian coast house subsets of the Atlantic Forest biota and can be considered as natural experiments for evolutionary studies.
