Understanding how neurons regenerate following injury remains a central challenge in regenerative medicine. Adult mammals have a very limited ability to regenerate new neurons in the central nervous system (CNS). In contrast, the basal chordate Polycarpa mytiligera can regenerate its entire CNS within seven days of complete removal. Transcriptome sequencing, cellular labeling, and proliferation in vivo essays revealed that CNS regeneration is mediated by a newly formed neural progeny and the activation of neurodevelopmental pathways that are associated with enhanced stem-cell activity. The HYPROB Program, led by the Italian Aerospace Research Centre, has the aim to increase the Italian capabilities in the design and manufacture of liquid oxygen-methane rocket engines; in particular, the line, named HYPROB-BREAD, has the final goal of developing and testing a ground demonstrator of three-tons-thrust class, regeneratively cooled by liquid methane. Some intermediate breadboards have been conceived, realized and tested to deepen some technical issues: among them a specific breadboard, named MTP-B (Methane Thermal Properties Breadboard), has been designed and tested to investigat

General The final goal and overall objective of the current research has been to modify lipid hydroperoxidation in order to create desirable phenotypes in two important crops, potato and tomato, which normally are exposed to abiotic stress associated with such oxidation. The specific original objectives were: (i) the roles of lipoxygenase (LOX) and phospholipids hydroperoxide glutathione peroxidase (PHGPx) in regulating endogenous levels of lipid peroxidation in plant tissues; (ii) the effect of modified lipid peroxidation on fruit ripening, tuber quality, crop productivity and abiotic stress

Review question / Objective: What is the antimicrobial effect of human PRF in vitro studies? Condition being studied: Recently, PRF has been used as an adjuvant in treating wounds (e.g., diabetic foot) by making a protective barrier to increase local cellular activity, causing the tissue to be recovered3. This is due to PRF’s tissue regeneration potential. PRF’s involvement in wound healing may go beyond being a protective barrier. It is already possible to observe studies that point to PRF as an autologous biomaterial with great potential to act as a local antimicrobial. This phenomenon can b

The goal of this project is to enhance fungal resistance of carnation and tomato through the ectopic expression of osmotin and other pathogenesis-related (PR) proteins. The research objectives were to evaluate in vitro antifungal activity of osmotin and osmotin and other PR protein combinations against phytopathogens (including Fusarium oxysporum, Verticillium dahliae, Botrytus cinerea or Phytophthora infestans), develop protocols for efficient transformation of carnation and tomato, express PR proteins in transgenic carnation and tomato and evaluate fungal resistance of transgenic plants. The goal of Northern Colorado Plateau Network (NCPN) riparian monitoring is to determine long-term trends in hydrologic, geomorphic, and vegetative properties of wadeable streams in the context of changes in other ecological drivers, stressors, and processes. This information is intended to provide early warning of resource degradation and determine natural variability of wadeable streams. This report summarizes NCPN monitoring of Courthouse Wash in Arches National Park (NP) from 2010 to 2019. The focus of this report is to (1) present geomorphology and vegetation data from five reaches monito
